I have it by James Herndon on a 45rpm. He recorded it on Glory Records back in the 70's. I don't think you can find it anywhere since the company has long since went out of business.
thanks for sharing a beautiful song, it is one of my favorites. Does anyone have anything else by him, particulary "Lord Have Mercy"? I am also looking for James Cleveland's "Without a Song."
Rowoches, that song is recorded on James Cleveland Live at Carnegie Hall. I believe that the original recording is on an album with the James Cleveland Singers.
You know, it would be great if either he or Eddie Williams would play piano for the Caravans on one of their reunion stops as their former pianists. That would have every Caravans fan within 200 miles flocking onto that location armed with video cameras, lol.
james herndon was a former pianist for the caravans.i believe delores washington of the carvans also sang with him.last i heard he was residing in durham, north carolina.
Thanks for the comments. However, Cassietta George was never a James Herndon Singer. The young lady in the center is not Cassietta, but it's Luella Hunt, often confused with Cassietta George. You already know Delores Washington, Barbara McCreary is the other young lady and she is the younger sister to Luella Hunt!
After a whole year, I'm just reading this comment. Thanks for the correction. As far as Cassietta George, I wasn't going by the particular picture in this presentation. I saw an album cover a while back and the lady in the photo looked JUST like Cassietta. Either way, thanks for clarifying it for me. God Bless!

That "Oh Lord, Have Mercy" is TRUUUULY a house-wrecker! I do have the song, but have to really look for it.
I don't think that I have James Cleveland's "Without A Song," but I'll still look.

Yes, Reverend Herndon does reside in Durham. He plays for a couple of churches in the area. I have played on several programs with him.

Thanks for posting. I've often wondered what happened to James Herndon. He conducted a revival at our church in NJ back in the
mid-50s when he was about 19. Always enjoy his singing and playing.

There has been a correction. Cassietta George wasn't a member of the James Herndon Singers. However, he did have different sets of Herndon Singers.
