He's missed the whole point of thing. It's purpose is not just to count steps. It stops the analog stick on the nunchuck working unless you are jogging on the spot. So if you are playing Zelda:Twilight Princess, for example, Link can't run about unless you do. It makes you jog up and down. Nobody cares how many steps you take.
I could use this with Silent Hill: Shattered memories to further immerse me in that game. What do you think?
