In reply to mhlife, no, you don't have to be an American to to enjoy the jazz rendition. Me -- I am Canadian. I like this version very much and I can say honestly, there isn't much in the way of music, I dislike. JB's renditions are different, dynamic, energetic, and full of feeling. With John, what you see, is what you get.

Love Michael Crawfords version better but this is not bad at all and I have to agree(even though I'm a woman)and say I like a male voice on this better. The song can be sung by anyone, fyresparxx. In the show, yes, it's a man in the lead role. But there are some female versions done during concerts that are just fabulous. Patti and Bernadette Peters are personal favorites of mine.
