  • Great song! Every bit as good as "Safety Dance", along with Living in China!" Proof that music can be entertaining without being smarmy or Pollyannish! Only discovered these two songs years after they came out on cassette!

  • they play faster live... i luv it

  • equal parts Ozzy Osbourne and Eddie Izzard, cooler than both combined!

    awesome in concert

  • @HooperWest Ummmmm.... the band is called men WITHOUT hats, 1 person has a hat

  • @SuperUTBER what's the second mark?

  • i have a crush on my best friend and i was about to yell at him for not calling me... then i listen to this song and it really made me alot happier... maybe i just stopped myself from looking like a fool... ivan saves lives with music!!!! lol

  • Men Without Hats should have been bigger than Michael Jackson. What amazingly talented people they are! Ivan is so cool!

  • it's true. they're not wearing hats. i frikin love this song.. it's so catchy and fun!

  • They were really awesome and underrated.

  • These punks rock! :-)

  • @geoffplimbley

I take it that you're the sole person who voted to "dislike" this song? I pity your bitter, jealous self.

    **dances to music**

  • @geoffplimbley are you completely retarded? How did you end up watching this video in the first place you moron?

  • @geoffplimbley ♫We didn't start the flame war; peeps were flaming long before I left my comment! We didn't start the flame war! Let the whole wide world know I'm a big dumb a**hole!♫

Seriously, though, guys, don't feed the troll. His methods are obvious:

he pre-writes a sh*tty comment that compares the video to terrible bands, like U2, then copy and pastes it onto any video he can find. It saddens me, this new low that humanity has reached...

  • @geoffplimbley Okay, guys, don't feed the troll. You see, he's only doing what he's been inbred to do:

    A) he pre-writes a comment that can be used on any video (seriously, this comment can be used on just about ANY video). He also compares the video to sh*t bands, like U2, hoping to offend people with the idiotic comparison.

    B) he then leaves the comment on every music video he can find.

So, you see, it's not really personal, it's just his lack of a life that compelled him to say that.

  • @geoffplimbley The guy's a sweaty mess because he's been singing his heart out for 15 songs.

  • There are not many songs that really inspire me with happiness and positivity but this would be one of the few that do. They all look like goofy dudes and were surely on some kind of drugs, but they really know how to work the audience..look at them going off.. so much joy and smiling faces..they had that element of synth pop that existed at the time combined with with a general positive rock feel.I have relatives in Canada-sounds like an awesome place to be -more beer drinkin and less politics

  • Thanks mon, Canada is a rightous place, beer, liquor, democrasy. for all who can afford it, Perhaps the most a-political place on the planet. APPP.

  • @totara8

I saw them on tour for Folk of the 80's (Part III) . They were great live, it's one of my best concert memories from the 80s

  • I think this song is so brilliant because it mixes the playful, light-hearted men without hats philosophy with a beautiful tone without losing the magic in either... and in this version, those two philosophies are mixed with a bit of a rockish drum line and background guitar-effects... oh my god, where is this song in the rock hall of fame!? That's a freaking joke...

  • Their music is so good!

  • 51% of Canada's coolness. Right here.

  • HAHAHAHA

  • how old is ivan doroschuk now??? can somebody tell me?

  • @AnJoAnPiJa can't seem to find his d.o.b on the net anywhere, but he started the band around 17,changed the name of it to Men Without Hats a few years out of high school,so I'd peg him in his early to mid 50's now.

  • Atomic force awesome! Ivan doroschuk is a polonium initiator!!!

If this song does not make you dance, you have no soul..

  • Men Without Hats 懐かしいね~最高!!

  • this is canadian music I can be proud of,sorry Celine Dion, you just can't compare

  • Ultimate 80's concert quad- three night of Men without Hats, Icehouse, Devo, OMD.

All __awesome__ live performers-- it's freaking transcendental, this stuff is.

  • Mon Dieu! I can't think of the last time I saw a performance with this much energy and zing. Great stuff!!

  • A tour de fource of euridition,

    a sublime performance of abstruseness

    quixotic incarnation of canadianism

    men without hats?

    art without limits!

  • Equal parts Ozzy, Izzard, Byron, Lennon, with 50 kW amplification!!!! If a band could be rated by how much fun they have on stage these guys would be the best!!!

  • Their best song. Thanks for posting.

  • This rivals Queen's live aid concert for pure unadulterated energy. Holy sheet!

  • Such a great song, I could actually cry from it's beauty! What they lack in hats they make up for with sheer brilliance and raw talent! :D

  • @smartlamppost hes doing another 2011 tour with men without hats, and he almost always waers a cowboy hat lol

  • Amazing Live presentation, pure energy!, and fuckin same to the disc song, one of the best live presentation ive seen

  • ivan is the man (sans chapeau)

What fucking energy they have! I want the energy!

If everyone's doing it all over the land... I want it too! Nuclear pile energy! MWH is freaking awesome! I want three of them!

  • here's hoping they come back to MTL for another tour. I'm 22, would like to see them live

  • Have to agree with Inertia, I'm 22 and loving their music

  • Brandon Flowers' is grating and pretentious, but hell, at least he thinks he's hot shit. They sound strained, tinny, and over-produced, like they're trying way too hard to be

'different', or 'weird', and the subject matter and overall quality of the tunes is sorely lacking...gee, I guess I just can't stand them. They are government-approved, radio-friendly BORES.

  • They fucking rock the house down.

I love 'em dearly. Screw the haters. Poor things have no ears for anything except maybe The Killers and Death Cab For Cutie and My Chemical Romance and safe,government-approved fodder like that. I bet they even dig Nickelback!

  • what's wrong with the Killers? lol they are awesome

  • Fantastic, so full of energy. Takes me back to my grand youth :o)

  • Come to chicago my friend, we wil mob you!

  • Think Ozzy Osbourne, Eddie Izzard, and Robert Smith. What a sucky world where these guys are not megastars!

  • i gotta rip and upload in hd with better audio bitrate ..this is a bit low

  • ausome!

  • Every time i have shown people music by Men without hats they have loved it. No conspiracy, the music industy just cant cover everyone.

  • This is almost as good as saftey dance

  • This is incredible!!! Why have I never heard of these guys before!?!?!

  • They are from Canada, the name Ivan Doroschuck is not 'cool' or 'hip'(lead guy), they had a typecast hit song (safety dance) that labeled them as one hit wonders...

I hate the music promotion system we had, bands like this fail to get promoted like they should.

3 albums and more coll, dancable tunes than in any six of other 80's pop bands, includind ones like duran duran.

Ivan's vocals are a little raw and dark, a little too lternative for the 80's pop crowd, but freaking awesome anyway!

  • uh, these guys didn't get promoted because most people don't like this type of sound. there is no conspiracy, dude. music that is public-friendly gets out there. music that appeals to a small number of people does not. just because you like it doesn't mean it 'would have been' liked by everyone else 'if only the conspiracy hadn't held them back, man.'

  • Yeah. no conspiracy. you are right.

Just a planet full over people who never appreciated how great these guys are.

My argument/comment was pretty sophomoric and contrite.

well too bad the rest of the world does not adore this. Their bad.

i'm so glad i found MWH, and loved their music. Hope you do too. It is pretty fun and melodic, despite the urgency, eh?

  • pssh Duran Duran has awesome songs, i love both bands

  • Most people didn't know what good music was that time. Hope this kind of music will finally rise to the top one day!

  • anyone from age 30 to 50 will pay for this kind of music! The babies do not get it, no reason to try and get them to get it.

Ivan is/was/shall be a force to contend with.

I really love his voice on top of it all!!!

  • I'm 17 and would love Men Without Hats to reform. Don't make be so quick to make assumptions about a whole generation, some 'babies' do 'get it'.

  • Oh my god, I am becomming a boorish old fart. Ivan forgive me.

I apologize good sir. How ignorant could i be to think what i wrote?

Well, i _was_ referring to the majorities. But i spoke stupidly, even the president does it sometimes.

Inertia is a coupling with gravity. I love both. They hold the secrets that encourage us.

    Apt name. Good on ya!.

  • It will. Sure, it will, or in 20 years music will be only noise.

  • Rest in Peace

    Allan McCartney (1954-1992)

    Very young for this world

  • Allan McCarthy !!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, I notice you right, for most, he baorn in 1957 and died in 1995... I surely be confuse with other young musician

  • Actually it is Lenny Pinkas. Alan was out of the band by then

  • Yes i know. But i was talking with

Kriegerdammerung about Allan's death not about Lenny on the keys :)

  • These guys and AFTER THE FIRE had the catchiest melodies one song after the other, more than any other synthesized band of the 80s I've ever heard.

  • I love watching the crowd and being like..."I had that outfit!"

  • awesome

  • hey kids, this is how its done when we were young and its still good now...

  • Can we put more New wave in this please ??!

    impossible !

    Awesome !

  • second only to the safety dance gotta love it

  • check out i like

    even better

  • one of the best new wave songs ever. i love this song! Ü

  • What DVD is is this from? I want to buy a copy of it!

  • This is the best live performance of any song I have ever heard. men without hats rule!

  • IS THIS A COVER?

  • no.

  • 1982

  • this is good music!!

  • prostě náklep..:-)

  • oh man i remember the cool days of high school.

  • yeah, great stuff

  • Clever lyrics and excellent groove. Perfect pop music.

  • actually, Men without hats is techno. But hey, whose counting?

  • This aint Techno, this is Synth-pop

  • Looks alot better without the eyeliner imo.
