I can't help but having this big smile on my face right now. Rosario Dawson really did an amazing job as Mimi, and I totally agree with her when it comes to the play: It is wonderful seeing a play and then a movie about so many different people, getting together, and then sharing love. And what is so wonderful is that Jonathan Larson, and the cast both of the OBC and the movie managed portraying the characters in such a reliable way. You can sort of relate to the characters no matter what...

Yep, Rosario was in a squat across from ours. We rented out the front of bldg to a Vibe magazine shoot. I was hanging with Rosaro's dad, who was the one who pushed her over across the street. She was 14? yep. It was all good. We got paid and Rosario is now a benefactor to the neighborhood.

i agree that Rosario did a bad ass job on the movie. she really captured the essence of Mimi but I have to admit Lexi Lawson definitely gave Rosario a run for her money and was just as good. Her energy on stage is unmatched. But bottom line I love em both.

The fact that Rosario lived such a hard childhood made Mimi the most authentic and real character in the whole movie. Idina, for example, did a great job, but in my humble opinion she didn't express quite well the bohemian crazy artist stuff. But Rosario just felt so real as Mimi. I thought it was because she is a good movie actress, but now I see it is also because she actually lived like Mimi.
