  • Vapaad is a technique Mace Widou invented, not a Lightsaber style

  • @koulis0985

I was a dark lightsaber style that could take over the person and then become a technique as well as a lightsaber form. It is a style but it can become a technique.

  • vaapad and juyo are the same thing, but still, great video

  • @MasterYoda12321 Well technically its not a saber form, Vaapad is more than a fighting style. It is a state of mind, a path that leads through the penumbra of the dark side.

  • And my favoruite style is Soresu.

  • Anakin Skywalker use style Niman only once in fight with Count Dooku, he usually uses Djem So. Darth Vader never uses Niman.

  • @Zapomniany97 he is really young in ep2, but uses 2 sabers very good. So, he must be trained for that. There is no ep3 in that video, so we can say that he usually uses Niman.

  • Darth Terror InAnus

  • Actually, when Anakin was using two lightsabers he was using Jar'Kai not Niman.

And Vader uses Djem So not Djem So and Shien.

  • @LegoMandLego1man Jar'kai counts as a developed form in Niman, even though it is more commonly used by masters who are way beyond the use of a single form

  • @LegoMandLego1man

jar'kar is just another word for duel wielding

  • Comment removed

  • Correction: Anakin's core style was Shien/Djem-So. Niman is the reference for dual saber fighting. If you want to call Niman anyone's style it would be Ayla Sekura, the twi'lek.

  • These aren't styles of lightsabers. They're jedi combat styles.

  • Vader didn't use that lightsaber form. And I'm almost certain Qui Gon didn't use ataru or atleast he didn't look like he was using it in the movies. I can Identify a form by just looking at the person fighting

  • @DarthVulku Your right. As far as im concerned Vader really couldnt perform any style with the suit on. And Im pretty sure wookiepedia states that Qui-Gon was trained in ataru but he never actually showed it because Darth maul never let him with enough room to perform it better especially in the Naboo reactor room

  • that's a shit

  • WTF. These aren't styles of lightsabers. Here are styles of lightsabers:

    Green Style (Green Lightsaber)

    Blue Style (Blue Lightsaber)

    Yellow Style (Yellow Lightsaber)

    Purple Style (Purple Lightsaber)

    Red Style (Red Lightsaber)

Count Duku Style (A Curved handle Lightsaber)

Darth Maul Style (Double Sided Lightsaber)

  • @MysteryManJMN your stating colors, not the specific hilts that were created to incorporate a fighting form

  • @MysteryManJMN thats a color not a form idiot. beside, how come you call dual-blade lightsaber as darth maul style if there was a numerous dual-blade users before him?

  • I cannot see the reason all of this... these styles were not named before 2002.

The old trilogy and Episode I have no any contact with them, even KotOR and JK.

  • @Gaston92146 Yes they were, lol. They're in KOTOR, and i've seen styles like this before 2002 (On the internet)

  • LOser 1. anakin have shien jem so 2. vder have en fusion from soresu, makashi and ataru

  • Uh I think darth vader loses the ability to use djem so because of the suit

  • These styles are used in Kotor 2. That's how I recognized them

  • wat does this all mean combat styles

  • look, you can't just fight a jedi or a sith without any kind of style. For example: Shii-Cho is for many Enemys, Makashi is for Jedi and Soresu for many Enemys with Blasters.

  • Jedis use different styles of combat accroding to what they are best at..could you imagine yoda fighting like kenobi or vice versa.

  • you did your homework! ^^ good job! It would have been nice to have sound. but good info.

  • WMG = We're Majorly Gay

  • WMG = We like getting Majorly fucked in the ass by diseased Goats

  • lol

  • Sad that the audio was taken, i was thinking to take the intro as one sound track, by the way what is the name of the song that was in the video?

  • I love Star Wars. My favorite character is Anakin Skywalker.

  • Anakin practiced Shien/Djem So since the beginning of his Jedi career.

He used Niman (Jar'Kai) during his first duel with Dooku because he had two lightsabers, why not use them?

  • I wish someone would remake Episode 4-6 with the same software of Episode 1-3

  • I wish they would remake Episodes 1-3 in the same style they did Episodes 4-6. The actors we can keep. Just not so much CG.

  • But they always remaster them and add new scenes, also George Lucas said that he will turn all 6 films into 3d.

  • No James, he didn't.

  • Have a look all over the internet he is.

    : )

  • Technically there is no real official saber combat. Its all EU and canon. I doubt George Lucas even knows about all the stiles. :P

  • He knows them AND is able to use them.

He's the only one who can use two doublebladed sabers ^^

Oh, and he's able to do the force-fu** xDD

  • I think someone force fucked your head! :D

  • I was put at Jar'Kai witch I will practice anyone has tips for me??

  • Alot of people who practice Jar'Kai (duel wielding) study Escrima. Give it a look

  • Anakin uses djem sho, faggot.

  • when anakin was using two lightsabers he was using niman or at least the niman variant called jar'kai

  • bastante bueno y la imagenes estan bien cogidas junto con la musica

  • See... Now that could have been a good idea if you explained what each lightsaber fighting style was, and not just it's name.

And you could have easily done that instead of wasting that other two minutes of showing poorly mixed clips that barely had any time-line, let alone saber combat.

Call me a critic, but I was expecting to LEARN something... Not watch star wars clips put to a song.

  • how the fuck do u guys no bout lightsaber styles i seen all the movies and stuff it never says nuthin bout them

  • @jacobfkingtinker It is explained in sources such as the Visual Dictionaries and novels. The Episode III novel focuses more heavily on them to describe some scenes, and so does the book Shatterpoint, both written by Matthew Stover. I suggest you read them, they're very good books and explain a lot.

  • yoda fights with ataru because of his power abd size

  • You said there were seven. So why did you list nine styles? (counting the two styles that you listed for Darth Vader.)

  • Djem so and shien are the same things

  • Okay, so that makes eight, not seven.

  • vaapad is an improvement on the juyo form. they are both considered as the 7th form. and djem so and shien are not the same but are both considered as the 5th form

  • whats yodas style!

  • ataru

  • Anakin never used Niman

  • He used it while training as a youngling/or padawan and briefly in the duel with Count Dooku.

  • its Darth Tyranus, with 1 r lol

    Also, every1 used Shii-Cho.

  • no. everybody had an elementary beginning knowlege of Shii-Cho, but only some persued it completely to master it.

  • Yay!

    Skillet - rebirthing

    love that song

  • 0:38

Anakin is using Jar'Kai, not Niman :P

  • actually, Anakin uses shien.

  • He was learned in Shien and Ataru, but focused his attention on Djem-So's raw power - accurately depicting his personality.

  • whats the song?

  • rebirth by skillet.

  • anakin wasn't a master of shien and was only seen using the Jar'kai variant of Shien, before the clone wars he used Ataru and Shien, then after the Duel with Dooku and in the clone wars, he changed his style to Form V variant Djem So. As Darth Vader he mastered Form (Shien and Djem So) using a customized style of them with Soresu and Ataru spots.

  • i think many ppl get Anakin as the shien master thing wrong cuz it seems to odd a coincidence that both his aprentices use shien

  • the master doesn't choose his students lightsaber style. Anakin used djem so, the art of using ones force against them.

  • i like the form makashi becuse it balances parrying with attaking so you have a good balance there and its also the best aginst other people with lightsabers

  • not the best, as you saw in the death of Dooku, the flaw of Makashi is against advanced Form V users(which anakin is) As shown during Dooku's fatal duel with Anakin, Makashi simply did not generate the necessary kinetic energy to meet Djem So (Skywalker's preferred style) on an even footing. The sheer raw power of Form V wore down Dooku's defenses, physically exhausting him and draining his reserves of Force power.[

  • Every style can defeat another.

But yeah - Dooku got wore down by Anakin's power.

  • i like juyo

  • i think yoda also uses atru and luke uses shien also

  • Yep, Yoda does use Ataru. Luke uses Djem So rather than Shien. :)

  • Autor of this vid is SW nooooooooob

  • is this style or type of cos darth sidious uses fencing

  • u geek ! anakin is not trained in JAr KAi !

  • So what is he trained in?

  • Shien and Djem So ! duh !!!

  • how do u now this?

  • According to the Fightsaber article, Anakin was using an Ataru variant of Niman/Jar'Kai when using two sabers against Dooku. Form VI: Niman is a different form to Niman/Jar'Kai, although mastery of Niman helps in mastering Niman/Jar'Kai. :)

  • Anakin does not use NIman against Dooku during their 1st encounter w/ two lightsabers.

  • great tune ;) skillet rocks.

  • pls wat is dis cool ass song

  • Rebirthing by skillet

  • What's This song? pls tell me

  • The music sucks.

    Pretty cool video though.

  • who made this stuff up? lol

  • anakin was a shien and later on djem so practitioner he was just implementing Jar'Kai in that fight scene and i believe it was a mix of ataru and Jar' Kai but anyway nice vid though :P

  • give this person a cookie...woo

  • also, Yoda was a master of all forms, though his style usually used was Ataru to help compromise for his size.

  • If I'm right, the lightsaber forms were only created and explained in the EU or canon material. From what I heard, George has no idea about anything of these styles, and in fact, he just thinks all jedi are master swordsmen. :/

  • point taken...

i doubt even he would waste time making up styles when he could just make up more movies like he did for indie and clone wars

  • Indeed. The only people who probably figured their were ANY styles were the choreographers (Mainly Nick Gillard), but if anything, they were either, fast or hard styles Lol.

  • he doesnt usually think the stuff up, he just aproves the stuff.

  • its good

  • Hey "Phuzzydude", I hate to break this to you, but the only reason they came up with different "styles" was to explain why the lightsaber battles in the new films are so much faster and fancier than those of the old movies. It's sad when geeks just take in everything that's spoonfed to them by Lucasfilm. Bascially, the new movies suck.

  • sorry, I misclicked. that's a BAD comment. you might have a point, but even so, no need to be a bad sport about it. Just as it is in the real world, there are different forms of combat. deal.

  • Anyone else think that luke skywalker looks like marty from back to the futer?

  • me.

  • What's the song?

    It rocks!

  • rebirthing by skillet

  • nice. my favorite skillet is The Last Night. But this is good anyway, nice job.

  • me 2!!!

  • nice much bettter than mine but at the time i was limited to rots footage but still beter than mine

  • sorry for my typos lol

  • darth maul was an ataru

  • no sir darth maul used juyo. Obi-wan used to use atary but when qui-gon died he switched to sorusue or however u spell it

  • specifically, juyo with jar'kai applied to it. he also knew some sort of unarmed combat, can't remember what it's called...

  • u mean teras kasi right?

  • soresu

  • soresu

  • darth maul is juyo + teras kasi

  • teras kasi isnt one of 7 light saber styles

  • i know that. i mean darth maul merge his combat form with teras kasi.

  • teras kasi is an unarmed style, so its not one of the lightsaber forms

  • If iam corect, you can find it back in the book "Darth Maul shadowhunter"

  • The lightsaber forms are retcon nonsense. I appreciate your effort with this video, but it's still pointless, because there's no such thing as the seven forms in the Star Wars-movies - especially not vaapad. Vaapad only exists in the expanded universe, not in the movies. The way Samuel Jackson fights in the films has nothing to do what Windu's lightsaber style is described like in the books, sorry.

  • I will give you that the seven forms aren't in the films. but who cares? it's still a cool consept ans I happen to like the EU a lot, and I'm not yelling at you that your thinking and I respect that I just happen to like it a lot, so, yeah.

  • Well, one could always get out and film something like that on one's own.

Some years ago, I had this idea to make a website with a friend dedicated to the forms of lightsaber combat. We wanted to make a website where you could read all about them, and to provide lightsaber battle videos that demonstrate (our ideas of) those forms.

    We never did it, though.

  • Although I agree the styles aren't entirely accurate in the movies, except for Yoda's Ataro, Obi-wans Soresu, Tyrannus' Makashi and Anakins Djiem So (not niman as the vid says).

But I thought the forms were made canon a little while back, just after episode II came out.

  • I know they are canon. But I think there's a little difference between "original canon" and "retcon canon".

For example, the Death Star being designed by the geonosians is original canon. But the Death Star being a collaberative design of the geonosians and Bevel Lemelisk is retcon canon.

  • Fair point.

But would you agree that the lightsaber styles are more accurately depicted in episodes II and III? I think it's more aparrent who's using what form in the last two than others, wich would make sense since that's when they came up with them.

  • I think that Nick Gillard, the fight choreograph, had some kind of style in mind for each character, of course. Especially in Episode III, where he wanted the fights to be very personal and explain the characters well.

So my guess is that those EU authors or whoever came up with the seven styles in the first place talked with him about this matter and tried to adapt his ideas and explanations in a somewhat canon-like form. It's not perfectly accurate therefore, but not a bad thing either.

  • Sounds like a pretty likely scenario to me, also watching the ep.III special features where Nick talks about the 'levels' of lightsaber fighting and like you said, reflecting the characters in the way they fight.

I do think the way they're explained in the EU stuff is pretty awesome though lol

  • I'm hoping to write a book about the lightsaber forms - giving instructions on movement styles, posture, grip, etc. It may be retcon, and you may not see much like them in the movies, but I think I've got some decent ideas of how to do each form. Don't know what people think, but if nothing else, I'd like to do it for myself... Yes, I am a certified nerd. lol.

  • makashi all the way

  • likin the music to go with the clips. but which style do u prefere?

  • ataru

  • lol skillet

  • thank you very much

  • well done dude

  • Pretty cool

  • thanks
