no, in America we call these people conspiracy nuts, too. :-) Just because these nuts crack the loudest, doesn't mean they are in the majority - most folks have better things to do with their lives than go around lying just for the media attention.
i do feel sorry for the census workers tho, they are just mindless sheeple trying to make a couple bucks. A lady came in my office the other day trying to get people to work for census and make "a few xtra bucks" so take it ez on them folks. just write "2 people live here" or how ever many and tape it to your door. if u dont want to fill it out. they already track us by our cell phones and know everything we say, email, etc.
Are you serious. Take the tin foil hat off and come back to reality. That's not what they do. Stop watch beck and listening to bachmann. None of that NWO fema bullshit is true.
@Mirekization your gona be in a fema concentration camp making obama t shirts. while i am in a bunker getting a bj from bachman. while u take it in the pooper from the fema storm troopers and the census workers.
This most likely had nothing to do with Obama or the right-wing and more to do with the fact that it's their harvest season. They view ALL outsiders with suspicion. While I lived in Louisville I traveled to those parts quite a few times with my Uncle to do business. "Who's your family? What's your last name? Did they raise you?" were all questions they asked before they wanted anything to do with us. Had we not had family from Hazard we probably would have been in trouble ourselves..
All I have to say is, Japanese in ww2. What makes you think they could not do the same thing to "radicals", "right-wing extremists", etc etc. Heck, they already added veterans, and conservatives to the DHS warning. One who does not question their govt, will be ruled.
The government don't need to know which of my grandparent(s) came from what country. but they ask.
Now the hospital, the doctor's name, pretty much everything on a birth certificate, but yet Obama don't have to,. F^%k the damn bastard. He show his and I'll show mine, but not untill he shows his first.
you're missing the point. the question is: does the government need to know where my grandparents are from? See? It's a simple question willy. And I hope in your "logical" mindset you'll come to the conclusion that NO, no the government doesn't need to know where my grandparents are from.
Actually, in my logical mindset, assisted by a reading of the actual (proposed) questions, I've come to the conclusion that the government does not *care* where your grandparents came from (assuming you are filling out the census), and that, had you read the actual (proposed) questions, instead of the rantings of some batshit-crazy radical right-wing loon, you'd come to the same conclusion.
OK, I'm looking at "Questions Planned for the 2010 Census and American Community Survey" (US Census Bureau web site, TinyURL mwdwsl). I believe you reference that document in a recent post - at least you seem to have shamelessly misquoted from it.
If "you" are a person filling out the census, there are no questions asking about your grandparents, much less their origin.
ok. How about an answer to this question: for what reason does the US govt. need to know any information other than counting heads in the census? For what reason do they need GPS coordinates of peoples front doors? TELL me HOW the government knowing THOSE things would help allocate funds for certain areas? And how is questioning these things somehow "racist" , "paranoid", or akin to the likes of terroists?
That's pretty much my question, why. Hell they can Google my address and get a view of the top of my house, then click another botton and see the front of my house.
i was here when the census guy came. i watched him. he NEVER asked me how many people live here. No questions at all. Just the GPS at the front door. And the friggin liberals gloss it over like it's nothing and think IM an ass for asking.
Well wildwilly, it's clear you have not had the pleasure of experiencing the census this year, so I guess you can't comment since you didn't SEE it. They went to every house. And never asked how many people lived here. You don't think that's strange? Reach deep down in your liberal mind and TRY to answer that.
taking wild guesses isn't "factual", it's just reallly stupid. If you can't answer the question i've posed, then don't give me some "oh it's just this, or it's just that" without even considering what is being said.
Here, I'll give you an easy one:
Who is Lockheed Martin? and why are they involved with the census? Or are you the type of person who will hide under a bed when their house is on fire? Humor me and look it up.
Oh, stop being an ass. Everybody's throwing guesses around, I just tossed mine in the pot. Unlike several people here, I have not misrepresented my WAGs as anything but.
You then asked me to explain what *you* experienced, and I declined to do so until *I* experienced it.
But first, try googling Census and GPS. Interestingly, we were first aware of this plan in 2006. Guess it was OK back then, when "one of us" was in office.
OK, looked up Lockheed Martin and census. They won a bid (in 2005, under Bush and a Republican Congress) to provide a data collection system for the 2010 census. They were also involved in the 2000 census, the 2006 Canada census and the 2001 UK census.
I must confess I'm failing to detect the threat here - unless you're suggesting Lockheed Martin is involved in a conspiracy to nationalize our health care system.
You guys are still thinking that we crazy loons are just coming up with nutty stuff because we are racist against obama or some dumb shit stuff like that. NO. Bush was a douchebag too. Lockheed Martin is the US largest defense contractor and weapons manufacturer. What is a defense contractor doing with a contract gathering data on people?Don't you think that's a little strange? In and of itself, does questioning things make me insane? NO.
Lockheed Martin is a vary large, multifaceted company. They do lots of things besides defense contracting. One is general areospace. Another is IT systems.
You're fine. Keep questioning. Let us know when you find something of substance.
Well, in my mind, that would have to be providing the Cassini spacecraft (currently taking beautiful pictures of Saturn's rings) with its three radioisotope thermoelectric generators, which provide electrical power, as well as the largest planetary spacecraft propulsion system ever built, containing both bipropellant and monopropellant propulsion systems, with more than 3,100 kg of liquid propellants.
OR did you mean the SR-71 Blackbird (which was, technically, just Lockheed)?
Paveway II Dual Mode Laser-Guided Bomb? they make bombs and missiles. Do you want to have this discussion or not? If we're going to chat, then don't intentionally leave stuff out. Lockheed Martin is the largest US defense contractor. Whatever they make, it has to do with defense.Again, WHY do they hold the contract for the census? If you don't find that odd, then I really give up.Just admit that it's odd and then we can agree on something.
While they are clearly mostly defense, they are also clearly not *solely* defense. They do commercial satellites including geosynchronous telecoms, space exploration including Hubble, Spitzer, several Mars probes & Shuttle.
According to their web site, they also have a $10B information systems business. I assume part of that covers the US 2010 census. And I further assume they got that contract because they put in the best bid. Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to prove otherwise.
My job is not to prove anything from someone's assumptions. My job is to question things that don't make sense. Telecommunications, Weapons, Aerospace, and Census just don't sit well with me. If you're okay with it, then that is your opinion. I think it stinks. Have you ever read any of Bush's presidential directives and executive orders? Last I checked they were still in place. THAT is why THIS is so disturbing.
We, you only have to prove things to the extent that you want more people to follow you down the rabbit hole.
It's the signing statements that bother me. I just started reading "Daybreak: Undoing the Imperial Presidency and Forming a More Perfect Union". That (and passing health care reform with a meaningful public option) is keeping me up at night.
BTW, I'm starting to like you, as I am enjoying our banter. Thank you for actually looking something up. My hopes are that you, and people like you will also start questioning things and stop assuming everyone who questions things are right wing extremists. That's leftist propoganda. After the Bush era propaganda, I think it's safe to say we're all sick of it and we all really DO want change. I want some friggin truth here and I really gotta dig for it.
"My hopes are that you, and people like you will also start questioning things and stop assuming everyone who questions things are right wing extremists. That's leftist propoganda [sic]."
You really do hate liberals, don't you? Why do you automatically assume that the only people can legitimately question authority of government come from the right?
And you still haven't answered my question. What's so sinister and dangerous about government using GPS to catalogue addresses?
Nice sleight of hands, MrStandForMisInformation! I see how you pretended to continue quoting from the "Questions Planned for the 2010 Census and American Community Survey" (US Census Bureau web site, TinyURL mwdwsl), while attempting to throw in little subliminal bits. Ham-handed, but 2 points for the attempt.
Oh, and to all your other challenges, we can evidently add xenophobia!
You are on the defense because you know the gop has gone overboard again.
I used to be a republican but saw what reagan was doing and became an Independent. The republican party has gone too far right into fascism which by definition is right wing.
At least the Democrats don't use the fear tactics that the gop does, and the idea of more stale tactics that didn't work for decades we are too smart for that.
Your problem is you don't seem to research on your own, you let the gop think for you.
Actually I think the republican party is crying "Wolf" just once too often here. Do they think the census is going to be used to round-up republicans... hmmmmmmm , not a bad idea.
They've had blood on their hands all along. Just ask the countless people of color, gays, Muslims, Jews, women's health care providers, civil rights activists, etc., etc., etc. who have suffered and died thanks to backward, self-serving, hate-mongering swine like Beck and Bachmann.
What GOP leadership REALLY fears is a more accurate census that reflects the mass exodus of Americans from the Republican party. The resulting redistricting could be the final death blow to a party already in crisis.
LOL ACORN will show Mickey Mouse as a living being. They will also count dead people. Just like the had voters the were dead vote for Obama.
The questions is not needed. All they need is a head count that's it.
Hell I'll pull an Obama and lie my ass off. Everyone should lie their ass off. Tell them there are 10x the amount of people living there. And that everyone own 10 guns each with thousands of rounds of ammo each.
Crooks like Tom DeLay wrote the book on gerrymandering. Like the liar who thinks no one tells the truth, Rethugs can't conceive of winning an election WITHOUT cheating.
The GOP hates ACORN 'cause they're incredibly effective at registering voters and getting them to the polls.
For decades now, GOP strategy has focused on voter suppression. Why?
Because if everyone eligible voted in the US, Repubs would win very few elections. Don't look now, MrSTANDFORAMERICA, it's already happening...
damn boy where have you been? Acorn wasn't incredibly effective at registering voters, unless you're saying Elvis and Buddy Holly as well as Mickey Mouse and Skoobie Doo. Cartoon characters and dead celebrities. As well as just running through phone book registering voters.
Now that are caught setting up whore house's and crack house's.
Then have a black man run on the Dem ticket. And all the millions of blacks that have voted Rep all their lives turn to Obama.
Paul Weyrich, a principal architect of today's GOP and co-founder of the Moral Majority, on voter turnout:
"Many of our Christians have...'goo-goo' syndrome - good government. They want everybody to vote. I don't want everybody to vote...As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down."
How does it feel to become increasingly irrelevant, MrSTANDFORAMERICA? No wonder the GOP is absolutely panicked by a more accurate census!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
LOl poor kid, you do know that the GOP didn't run campaign promises based on lies. Obama has lied on every campaign promises. Except for one campaign promises, to turn the United States of America to another communist nation. Now that one he is working very hard on. he spends 24/7 on doing just that. And being you back him you are just as much a communist.
Obama fails to make liberal reforms he promised, so that somehow makes him a communist? Your sense of logic is questionable, friend.
The GOP keeps it campaign promises? Have you been in a coma since the year 2000?
Here's a bit of charitable advice MrSTANDFORAMERICA. So long as the GOP continues to rely bizarre, outrageous accusations to smear opponents and fear-mongering to inspire its base, membership will continue to decline. Nobody, except maybe the tin foil hat crowd, is buying it anymore!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Here's a bit of charitable advice WoodyLittle. Keep pushing and supporting communism in the USA, you'll find yorself on the losing side.
This is no longer the democratic party you keep praising. I know, I've voted Demm since I was 18 nd was able to vote. This in the communist party running under the democratic party ticket. There are plenty othet conutries that is communist, pick one and move to it.
or be will to lay your life on the line to bring communism to the USA.
I defy you to show me where in this thread I've praised the Democratic Party. PROTIP: quit making stuff up and you'll be a lot more credible.
This clip demonstrates GOP antagonism toward an accurate census count and the vile depths to which they will sink to prevent it from happening. THAT'S the topic at hand.
As for the "New Red Scare," it's a ridiculous and outmoded conservative tactic. You may dream of a return to the McCarthy Era, MrSTANDFORAMERICA. Most other Americans, not so much...
The ONLY thing I've said about Obama is he's FAILED to make the reforms liberals who elected him expect! That's not praise, it's criticism!
Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, is it?
Why don't you address the REAL point I've been making all along? When more people go to the polls, the GOP loses elections. Hence, their pernicious/anti-democratic strategy of suppressing/disenfranchising voters!
Nice attempt at misdirection, MrStandForObfuscation!
Please point to one bit of hard evidence where ACORN actually caused voter fraud (i.e., casting an illegal vote).
When you can't do that, please return to the subject of the possible causal link between the batshit crazy right stirring up census hatred and the murder of a census worker.
"Christopher Edwards, 33, the former Las Vegas field director for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, pleaded guilty to two gross misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to commit the crime of compensation for registration of voters"
"As part of a plea agreement, Edwards will testify against the other two defendants in the case — ACORN and its former regional director, Amy Busefink" This is one of many across the nation. Serach and you'll find.
No evidence that they got dead people to cast ballots, per your claim? Thought so.
No evidence that ACORN, for all its faults, did anything that affected the outcome of the last election other than get previously disenfranchised to exercise their right? Thought so.
Good luck getting a straight answer from MrSTANDFORAMERICA. If you present him with facts he can't refute, he resorts to name-calling.
So far, he's labeled me a "kid", hellbent on a communist takeover of the US who believes Obama is a god. I given him no reason to make these blind assumptions and none of them are anywhere near the truth!
Like the GOP mouthpieces who tell him what to think he relies on crazy accusations to make a point. That's his story and he's sticking to it!
LOL after some looking I come to find that this same voter fraud has taken p[lace in Obama's home country of Kenya.
Kenya : When 1.2 Million Dead People Were Registered to Vote in Kenya!
"The International Federation for Human Rights and its member organisation, the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) welcome the report that was released today by the Independent Review Commission (IREC) concluding that the results of the 2007 December presidential elections were « irretrievably polluted".
I thought so too. I called Homeland Security in DC, my local police, the FBI, and the census bureau. Homeland security told me it was for a satellite database that they needed to count people. Every time i said why do you need GPS coordinates to count people, and why didn't the worker ask how many people lived here.I kept getting a round about answer which never answered anything. The FBI didn't know it was happening and told me "yeah, that's weird."
Note, though I said it's fine and relevant, I don't attach any particular importance to the subject. It may be as innocuous as proof-of-workmanship - "I was here when I asked these questions" (like a night watchman punching the clock) - or an attempt to refine a map database (my Navman GPS tells me my front door is five houses up the street; I keep turning in the wrong driveway).
I think I already answered your question, whynotflip. GPS is the NEW STANDARD for navigation and locating unfamiliar addresses. Rather than looking at phone books or paper maps, people rely on onboard devices or MapQuest to reach destinations. It's not only the feds using it, it's everyone else.
ANYONE with your street address can get a photo view of your home and the corresponding GPS coordinates. It's readily available public information and nothing to get your panties in a wad about.
no i dont think you did answer my question Little Wood. Look at it again and again and again until it sinks into your thick skull. If neighbors on both sides of me are numbered 100 and 96, then my house would be 98 correct? Then why the FUCK does some federal worker need to GPS ALL THE FUCKING HOUSES. YOU don't NEED to get out of your car to use a GPS device dumbass and you don't NEED it for EVERY address. Clearly you don't UNDERSTAND the question. STFU.
You made several posts addressed to no one in particular, DEMANDING that someone, anyone answer your inane question about GPS coordinates and addresses. Etiquette, counts, dear.
When I finally take pity and give you a reply, you lash out like the foul-mouthed, little ingrate that you are.
Like many of your braindead brethren on the Right, you seem to believe profanity is a substitute for civil discourse...Piss off, you barely literate child!
perhaps it was your snotty, condescending, provoking attitude? I KNOW what a GPS is you idiot. But I don't get out of my friggin car and walk over to the front door to confirm I'm at the right address. Did I really have to explain that to you? I have to spell out every detail and you're calling me barely literate? PSSST, I'm not a republican.
I never SAID you were a Republican, whynotflip. Like MrSTANDFORAMERICA before you, you're putting words in my mouth and making things up.
I'm getting the distinct impression you don't read my replies at all. All you want is the chance to rant about how sinister it is that the feds are using modern technology to update census data.
If you know WHY the feds matching street addresses to GPS coordinates is SUCH a scary, disturbing development, fess up. Otherwise it's just pointless speculation.
I called a few people and asked this question:"why does the federal census need the GPS coordinates of my front door?"The Federal Census told me they're counting people (not an answer to my question). The police said they didn't know why.Homeland Security said it was for a satellite database. And the FBI had no idea it was even going on.Yes I called all of those people.Because I question this, that makes me crazy and paranoid? You libs are the new neocons.
Right wingers- Census takers are ordinary people who are trying to make some extra money. There's no conspiracy, no round ups, no government takeover. If anything, its another crazy excuse for you to shit on the working class in the name of blind patriotism.
Umm, the govt wanted ACORN to help with the census. You are telling me we should not be worried with their track record? The conservatives in this country have every right to be concerned over the way this govt is going, as well as the census.
ACORN is not going to help round up people into internment camps Why weren't conservatives up in arms about the possible intrusions of privacy posed by the USA Patriot act?
I'm not saying that the Democrats were in the right about the Patriot Act. I'm asking why right wingers weren't up in arms against an invasive piece of legislation rather than the "evil" purpose of the census, which is based ojn speculation.
who says right wingers weren't up in arms? It was the Democrats who pushed it through, so my guess is the Conservative Americans were PISSED about it. Remember, during that time dissent and questioning policy was also considered terroristic. This administration is no different.
Uh, the conservatives CERTAINLY were not pissed about the Patriot Act. As a matter of fact, it was THEY who were calling liberals unpatriotic because many of them did not support the Iraq War. Conservatives seem to have no problem paying taxes when they go to private security contrators, energy companies and others who are "rebuliding" Iraq.
Right. So it doesn't matter who is president or if it's democrats or republicans. Whoever "disagreed" with King George or Obama, they are labeled. Unpatriotic, terrorists, racists, and crazy.
Let it be known that I am no longer a Republican, for the record. I was disgusted then, and am disgusted now.
I don't know if you have ever listened to any Liberal media whynotflip, but it appears you are projecting.
It was not the "Liberal media" who spoke out against the census it was michelle bachman nut case from MN who may find that herself out of a job if her area isn't counted by the Census. It was also faux snooze who loves to stir up trouble with pure lies.
I suggest next time before you open your mouth or post you find out what are the facts. It would be a chance.
ya, i have listened to liberal media. i didn't say the liberal media spoke out against it did i? so i guess that's YOU who is projecting. NONE of you liberals have answered this question. WHY do they need GPS coordinates of peoples front doors? I suggest before you open YOUR mouth you should have YOUR facts straight. Chew on this one.FACT:Lockheed Martin has the contract for the census.Get back to me on that smartass.
There is something really really fishy about this Sparkman case. First off, this guy gives me a very pedophile vibe, he moves for boy scouts and adopts a son, never married and he looks like a pedo.
If his body was decomposed, how could anyone make sense of "fed" written in felt tip pen?
It wouldn't shock me in the least that this guy was offed by the "Feds" and this is being used as an "operation mockingbird" with the whore press to stifle dissent about our obvious Fascist government.
It's so typical that the neo cons want to avoid the subject and post something completely unrelated. They just can't seem to deal with the truth.
The conservative media love to take advantage of these people's paranoia and go all out to cause trouble. It's a shame Mr. Sparkman's family can't sue these people for this.
I'm tellin you, they really gotta stop with this "pitchfork" shit. They think they're going to rise up and take over and we'll all be Red White and Blue Conservatives...They want the freedom to do what they please, and the freedom to persecute those who practice freedoms they themselves dont agree with.
Go ahead...rise up...i promise you, there will be resistance, im not for big gov't but im not for this hatred/paranoia/propaganda under the guise of "Patriotism" either.
You think the people in Eastern Kentucky all sit around and watch Fox News. Glen Beck and Bachman? LOL
Venture out into the fields of marijuana where the left wing crazies live, that's right LEFT wing fanatics who are trying to tear down the government and are against law and order, and you will get hung with FED scribbled across your chest.
Sometimes the libs can pin the tail on the donkey, but not this time.
What are you even talking about....eastern kentucky, marijuana....idk where to even start. FoxNews is advocating a violent uprising, through mixed messages and propaganda. But somehow its the left wing extremists that are getting the message? lol how Conservative of you, blame the other guy.
Tell me again how i'll get hung and have my dead body mutilated...
i promise you, rise up with violence, and you will be met in kind.
It's not about giving information. It's about the fact that we are, by law, only required to report how many people live in our home. Yet they are over stepping the law for reasons unknown.
I would rather live in a country full of paranoid people rather than a nation of people that let themselves be treated like doormats.
Question Authority!
Dissent is the greatest for of patriotism. - T. Jefferson
(yea, the guy that wrote the constitution, the thing our government has been ignoring)
You really believe the entire government run media that people would kill a census taker because....what? because they don't like Obama? You really are easily brainwashed all you people, you think exactly what the government media wants you to think,
there is only a correlation which THEY make, for all we know this guy was killed by some angry kids who got molested by him, or he could've been killed by pot growers, or by the 'feds' themselves! Why do you automatically think what they tell you?
This country has been taking census since the late 1700's. I do genealogy and have looked at quite a few census records and each one is a little different in what questions they ask, including "do you have a phone?" "own a car?". In some cases, as in a boarding house, the owner would answer some of the questions if the person wasn't there to question.
and what's up with the gps thing? wtf do they need coordinates of my front door for? the census guy that came to my house didn't even ask how many people lived here.
Dear liberal hypocrites.During the Bush administration you protested the war by saying it was solely for oil profit and corporate interest. You protested the expansion of government, the loss of habeus corpus, out of control spending, and liberty loss via the patriot act.I am a moderate and supported those causes with you.Now that there's a democrat in office thou dost protest no more?YOU have lost your common sense.
The census only needs to count heads for public spending.PERIOD.
The only thing the Constitution authorizes is a count (enumeration) of people who live in the state. This is to happen every ten years.
There is no constitutional authorization to ask questions about age, race, sex, sexual orientation, income, or any other demographic or personal question.
Knowledge is power, and the fed govt has too much power. Power also corrupts. Do you want the next GOP Prez. to have this data?
Refuse to answer all but the questions about how many live at your house.
It's almost funny how quickly the "left" and "liberals" turned from "freedom loving" "anti PATRIOT Act" defenders of the Constitution against Bush to the craven Obama-apologists they are now.
Now, there's no point in hiding your racist, anti-White, anti-Christian agenda, and you openly proclaim your hatred for the majority of Americans.
You even use queer lingo like "teabagging" to describe your enemies - self hatred in the simplest terms.
I'm well aware of the sexual slang term "teabagging" - it's the dumb as dirt conservatives who chose the moniker.
BTW, "teabagging" can be a straight sexual practice,. but not a lesbian one, so your contention it's a "queer" practice reflects your tenuous grasp on reality.
Where the Bachman when George Bush was sweeping up EVERYONE'S private information? Spying on Americans in America and overseas? Where the fuck was she then?
Does Michelle Bachmann realize that there have been other census' since the one used to round up Japanese Americans? And nothing happened? Shame on whatever state it was for re-electing her.
Michelle Bachmann is a nutjob. Census Bureau does door to door vists to egt information for population status and other things. I am pretty sure if you do not want list your phone number you do not have to. Just another hype story and it has gotten ridiculous! Hey MICHELLE! Psst! The Patriot Act already invaded our business deeper then what the Census Bureau already did!
You're not saying that Bachman??? Then why mention it? There is no reason to mention something if you do not want people to make comparisons! The chickenhawks at Faux Noise must be in hog heaven right now! Rubbing their hands gleefully at the prospect of a civil war where their party can swoop in and grab absolute power!
Did you notice that even Glenn Beck wasn't buying Bachmann's census nonsense? He started shakin his head and put his hand up. Or he could just be agreeing with her one of those weird ways of his.
I'm not a fan of Glenn Beck myself but I want the reality of that discussion in full. It shouldn't have been cut off after he shook his head. I myself will try and find the whole conversation. I personally think he was agreeing with her but unlike others (right, center or left) I do my best not to let my personal bias interfere. I'm not perfect. I will admit when I'm wrong. Good question though whoo689.
michelle bachman and glenn beck are trying to get people killed. this is NOT a simple disagreement of ideas, it's not that they don't know what they're doing. they know what they're doing because it's been shown again and again and again that hateful right-wing rhetoric sets off the crazies, and they go out killing.
Nice, throw the constitution in the dirt. real patriot.

MrSTANDFORAMERICA 2 years ago
Another nice try at misdirection. Never knew a census worker to ask for a birth certificate.
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
you're missing the point. the question is: does the government need to know where my grandparents are from? See? It's a simple question willy. And I hope in your "logical" mindset you'll come to the conclusion that NO, no the government doesn't need to know where my grandparents are from.
whynotflip 2 years ago
Actually, in my logical mindset, assisted by a reading of the actual (proposed) questions, I've come to the conclusion that the government does not *care* where your grandparents came from (assuming you are filling out the census), and that, had you read the actual (proposed) questions, instead of the rantings of some batshit-crazy radical right-wing loon, you'd come to the same conclusion.
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
i see you have grown up enough to look at the 2010 census questions.
Damn boy we can't all teach you anything if you don't even try for yourself once and awhile.
I was coping and pasteing the 2010 census.
but of cousre you haven't even known of a census worker to ask for the same imformation that's on a birth certificate.
1: because you haven't looked
2: your not old enough, your parents filled out the last census taken.
MrSTANDFORAMERICA 2 years ago
Wasn't arguing the first part.
Was arguing the second, where you went off on a tangent about birth certificates and got dangerously close to one of your fugue states.
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
OK, I'm looking at "Questions Planned for the 2010 Census and American Community Survey" (US Census Bureau web site, TinyURL mwdwsl). I believe you reference that document in a recent post - at least you seem to have shamelessly misquoted from it.
If "you" are a person filling out the census, there are no questions asking about your grandparents, much less their origin.
You.
Are.

ok. How about an answer to this question: for what reason does the US govt. need to know any information other than counting heads in the census? For what reason do they need GPS coordinates of peoples front doors? TELL me HOW the government knowing THOSE things would help allocate funds for certain areas? And how is questioning these things somehow "racist" , "paranoid", or akin to the likes of terroists?

whynotflip 2 years ago
That's pretty much my question, why. Hell they can Google my address and get a view of the top of my house, then click another botton and see the front of my house.
So why do the need a GPS of my front door?
MrSTANDFORAMERICA 2 years ago
They need a GPS of your front door because the CIA needs to know exactly where to go to switch out the batteries on the chip they put in your brain.
andrewh23 2 years ago
i was here when the census guy came. i watched him. he NEVER asked me how many people live here. No questions at all. Just the GPS at the front door. And the friggin liberals gloss it over like it's nothing and think IM an ass for asking.
whynotflip 2 years ago
We're talking about the 2010 US census, right?
The one that happens next year?
Where the questionnaires go out in March and the operative date is April 1, 2010?
Wouldn't counting now be a tad premature?
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
Did you ever consider that maybe they're not GPS'ing every front door?
That maybe it's just *your* front door?
Now *that's* something to be paranoid about...
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
Well wildwilly, it's clear you have not had the pleasure of experiencing the census this year, so I guess you can't comment since you didn't SEE it. They went to every house. And never asked how many people lived here. You don't think that's strange? Reach deep down in your liberal mind and TRY to answer that.
whynotflip 2 years ago
I'll reach deep down into my *factual* mind and get back to you when I experience it. Plenty of time to freak out after that.
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
taking wild guesses isn't "factual", it's just reallly stupid.
Humor me and look it up.
whynotflip 2 years ago
Oh, stop being an ass. Everybody's throwing guesses around, I just tossed mine in the pot. Unlike several people here, I have not misrepresented my WAGs as anything but.
You then asked me to explain what *you* experienced, and I declined to do so until *I* experienced it.
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
I'll follow up on the Lockheed thing, promise.
But first, try googling Census and GPS. Interestingly, we were first aware of this plan in 2006. Guess it was OK back then, when "one of us" was in office.
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
OK, looked up Lockheed Martin and census. They won a bid (in 2005, under Bush and a Republican Congress) to provide a data collection system for the 2010 census. They were also involved in the 2000 census, the 2006 Canada census and the 2001 UK census.
I must confess I'm failing to detect the threat here - unless you're suggesting Lockheed Martin is involved in a conspiracy to nationalize our health care system.
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
You didn't look hard enough. Who is Lockheed Martin and what are they most famous for?
whynotflip 2 years ago
You guys are still thinking that we crazy loons are just coming up with nutty stuff because we are racist against obama or some dumb shit stuff like that. NO. Bush was a douchebag too. Lockheed Martin is the US largest defense contractor and weapons manufacturer. What is a defense contractor doing with a contract gathering data on people?Don't you think that's a little strange? In and of itself, does questioning things make me insane? NO.
whynotflip 2 years ago
Lockheed Martin is a vary large, multifaceted company. They do lots of things besides defense contracting. One is general areospace. Another is IT systems.
You're fine. Keep questioning. Let us know when you find something of substance.
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
Well, in my mind, that would have to be providing the Cassini spacecraft (currently taking beautiful pictures of Saturn's rings) with its three radioisotope thermoelectric generators, which provide electrical power, as well as the largest planetary spacecraft propulsion system ever built, containing both bipropellant and monopropellant propulsion systems, with more than 3,100 kg of liquid propellants.
OR did you mean the SR-71 Blackbird (which was, technically, just Lockheed)?
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
Paveway II Dual Mode Laser-Guided Bomb? they make bombs and missiles. Do you want to have this discussion or not? If we're going to chat, then don't intentionally leave stuff out. Lockheed Martin is the largest US defense contractor. Whatever they make, it has to do with defense.Again, WHY do they hold the contract for the census? If you don't find that odd, then I really give up.Just admit that it's odd and then we can agree on something.
whynotflip 2 years ago
While they are clearly mostly defense, they are also clearly not *solely* defense. They do commercial satellites including geosynchronous telecoms, space exploration including Hubble, Spitzer, several Mars probes & Shuttle.
According to their web site, they also have a $10B information systems business. I assume part of that covers the US 2010 census. And I further assume they got that contract because they put in the best bid. Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to prove otherwise.
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
My job is not to prove anything from someone's assumptions. My job is to question things that don't make sense. Telecommunications, Weapons, Aerospace, and Census just don't sit well with me. If you're okay with it, then that is your opinion. I think it stinks. Have you ever read any of Bush's presidential directives and executive orders? Last I checked they were still in place. THAT is why THIS is so disturbing.
whynotflip 2 years ago
We, you only have to prove things to the extent that you want more people to follow you down the rabbit hole.
It's the signing statements that bother me. I just started reading "Daybreak: Undoing the Imperial Presidency and Forming a More Perfect Union". That (and passing health care reform with a meaningful public option) is keeping me up at night.
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
BTW, I'm starting to like you, as I am enjoying our banter. Thank you for actually looking something up. My hopes are that you, and people like you will also start questioning things and stop assuming everyone who questions things are right wing extremists. That's leftist propoganda. After the Bush era propaganda, I think it's safe to say we're all sick of it and we all really DO want change. I want some friggin truth here and I really gotta dig for it.

And you still haven't answered my question. What's so sinister and dangerous about government using GPS to catalogue addresses?

What GOP leadership REALLY fears is a more accurate census that reflects the mass exodus of Americans from the Republican party. The resulting redistricting could be the final death blow to a party already in crisis.

WoodyLittle 2 years ago
damn boy where have you been? Acorn wasn't incredibly effective at registering voters, unless you're saying Elvis and Buddy Holly as well as Mickey Mouse and Skoobie Doo. Cartoon characters and dead celebrities. As well as just running through phone book registering voters.
Now that are caught setting up whore house's and crack house's.
Then have a black man run on the Dem ticket. And all the millions of blacks that have voted Rep all their lives turn to Obama.

How does it feel to become increasingly irrelevant, MrSTANDFORAMERICA? No wonder the GOP is absolutely panicked by a more accurate census!

And being you back him you are just as much a communist.

Obama fails to make liberal reforms he promised, so that somehow makes him a communist? Your sense of logic is questionable, friend.
The GOP keeps it campaign promises? Have you been in a coma since the year 2000?

Ignoring reality doesn't make it go away!
WoodyLittle 2 years ago
Dead on, WoodyLittle - this is exactly why the GOP feels compelled to marginalize ACORN.
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
Nice attempt at misdirection, MrStandForObfuscation!
Please point to one bit of hard evidence where ACORN actually caused voter fraud (i.e., casting an illegal vote).
When you can't do that, please return to the subject of the possible causal link between the batshit crazy right stirring up census hatred and the murder of a census worker.

Here dipshit.

MrSTANDFORAMERICA 2 years ago

and i'm still waiting for someone to give me an explanation as to why the census needs gps coordinates of my front door.
whynotflip 2 years ago
That is a fine and relevant question.
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
I thought so too. I called Homeland Security in DC, my local police, the FBI, and the census bureau. Homeland security told me it was for a satellite database that they needed to count people. Every time i said why do you need GPS coordinates to count people, and why didn't the worker ask how many people lived here.I kept getting a round about answer which never answered anything. The FBI didn't know it was happening and told me "yeah, that's weird."
whynotflip 2 years ago
Note, though I said it's fine and relevant, I don't attach any particular importance to the subject. It may be as innocuous as proof-of-workmanship - "I was here when I asked these questions" (like a night watchman punching the clock) - or an attempt to refine a map database (my Navman GPS tells me my front door is five houses up the street; I keep turning in the wrong driveway).
wildwilly1111 2 years ago
Everybody and their cousin uses GPS to navigate nowadays. It's become the standard for finding and creating data bases of unfamiliar addresses.
If you pay taxes, the federal government already knows your street address. Not a big deal.
WoodyLittle 2 years ago
"f you pay taxes, the federal government already knows your street address."
So, again, why the GPS coordinates? you realize they actually stand in front of the front door and punch something into their computer right?
If they already know where I live, then why the GPS?
whynotflip 2 years ago
I think I already answered your question, whynotflip. GPS is the NEW STANDARD for navigation and locating unfamiliar addresses. Rather than looking at phone books or paper maps, people rely on onboard devices or MapQuest to reach destinations. It's not only the feds using it, it's everyone else.
ANYONE with your street address can get a photo view of your home and the corresponding GPS coordinates. It's readily available public information and nothing to get your panties in a wad about.
WoodyLittle 2 years ago
no i dont think you did answer my question Little Wood. STFU.

Did Glen Beck, Rush and other right wing terrorists kill Bill Sparkman? Your dam right they did.

It's not about giving information. It's about the fact that we are, by law, only required to report how many people live in our home. Yet they are over stepping the law for reasons unknown.
I would rather live in a country full of paranoid people rather than a nation of people that let themselves be treated like doormats.

Way to go Glenn Beck. You just got a Census taker killed and strung up to a tree.
Feel good about that do you?

really bad taste
quizerry 2 years ago
You really believe the entire government run media that people would kill a census taker because....what? because they don't like Obama? You really are easily brainwashed all you people, you think exactly what the government media wants you to think,
there is only a correlation which THEY make, for all we know this guy was killed by some angry kids who got molested by him, or he could've been killed by pot growers, or by the 'feds' themselves! Why do you automatically think what they tell you?
MaryOMackie 2 years ago
This country has been taking census since the late 1700's. I do genealogy and have looked at quite a few census records and each one is a little different in what questions they ask, including "do you have a phone?" "own a car?". In some cases, as in a boarding house, the owner would answer some of the questions if the person wasn't there to question.
Boomer1949 2 years ago 2
spread the word!!! in this case right wing is cool!!! right wing is in!!! census workers are fools!!! SPREAD THE WORD!!! PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION!!!
wdcsucks1 2 years ago
and what's up with the gps thing? wtf do they need coordinates of my front door for? the census guy that came to my house didn't even ask how many people lived here.
whynotflip 2 years ago
Right! They've got your address, why do they need coordinates as well?
To find you on Google Earth?
To target your house with a cruise missile? (I'm not suggesting they have any plans to do that...)
What kind of massive database are they building, and what do they plan to do with it?
Is it just government incompetence and over-regulation?
All they should need is your address. They've got that already.

Dear conservative whackjobs:
Please, by all means, don't answer the door when the census taker comes to your community!
That means more public spending allocated for those of us who live in places where common sense, rationality, and education prevail.
You can continue to live in paranoia, ignorance, and hysteria, if you prefer.
MaximusNYC 2 years ago
Dear liberal hypocrites.During the Bush administration you protested the war by saying it was solely for oil profit and corporate interest. You protested the expansion of government, the loss of habeus corpus, out of control spending, and liberty loss via the patriot act.I am a moderate and supported those causes with you.Now that there's a democrat in office thou dost protest no more?YOU have lost your common sense.
The census only needs to count heads for public spending.PERIOD.
whynotflip 2 years ago
The only thing the Constitution authorizes is a count (enumeration) of people who live in the state. This is to happen every ten years.
There is no constitutional authorization to ask questions about age, race, sex, sexual orientation, income, or any other demographic or personal question.
Knowledge is power, and the fed govt has too much power. Power also corrupts. Do you want the next GOP Prez. to have this data?
Refuse to answer all but the questions about how many live at your house.

The teabaggers just want their country back.
You know the one - where women, queers, and colored folk all knew their place.

CarryANationIII 2 years ago 4
I'm well aware of the sexual slang term "teabagging" - it's the dumb as dirt conservatives who chose the moniker.
BTW, "teabagging" can be a straight sexual practice,. but not a lesbian one, so your contention it's a "queer" practice reflects your tenuous grasp on reality.
LightningRose 2 years ago
My understanding is that at least one participant with a scrotum has to be involved before "teabagging" can happen.
Hence, it's outside of the realm of possibility for lesbians?
I blame Log Cabin Republicans for the whole teabagging movement. Jeff Gannon, anyone?

My bad, it's a fag practice.

How so?
Even if you're straight, with male genitalia, you can still be "teabagged" by a willing female.

Michelle Bachmann is a nutjob. Census Bureau does door to door vists to egt information for population status and other things. I am pretty sure if you do not want list your phone number you do not have to. Just another hype story and it has gotten ridiculous! Hey MICHELLE! Psst! The Patriot Act already invaded our business deeper then what the Census Bureau already did!
dmp079 2 years ago 6
