This video has a LOT of bad advice... You shouldn't be moving your piercing the second day. Wipe on lather and rinse with water. Don't move the bar with any kind of soap. It shouldn't get anything like that in the wound - which can take up to a year to heal. If you aren't a piercing artist, you shouldn't just go on the internet and share what you do with everyone. To everyone watching this video for advice, call your piercing artist or a local parlor. It's not that hard to find someone educated.
The drastic swelling and pain should last for around a week, but it'll be hurting for a few months. That's normal. Take some Advil and you won't even notice. :)

@AngelosMommy916 i would say not to move the bar if you are not able to, i got mine done like 3 weeks ago and i couldn't move the bar until a week and you shouldn't get an infection just because you didn't more the bar, if you clean it properly, you shouldn't have any problem
@AngelosMommy916 My piercer told me not to move the bar at all because it will irritate it. Especially, if your ear is really sore and swollen. Mine got really bad, so I started to take Ibuprofen and ice it. The swelling went down a lot and it kind of numbed it, so I didn't feel the excruciating pain. I hope that helped!
Question: they told me not to use soap, I was told to use Wound Wash ! So I bought basic Walgreens brand is d it does all of that without ruining hair, getting Bubby, and it handles the crusty problem :)

with an antibacterial soap before. avoid ANY contact with the industrial, besides at times you clean it.
use special spray for fresh piered ears, as often as you wash the pierced area with sea salt (3 t/d).
i recommend using "bepanthen plus"- a white cream with VERY strong anti-infection remedies, and it speeds up healing process and greatly relieves pain. when you clean it twist it at least 360deg.
There's no suck thing as good or bad advice for a piercing. People react differently to any piercing. Its best to just find a method that's works best for you and stick with it. That's what this person's doing
Wow there is some really bad advice in this video. Table salt is really bad..never use that on a piercing. Use NON iodized sea salt. And it's only 1/4 teaspoon in 8 oz water, not a whole tablespoon. Yikes! And moving the bar so much really is not good either.

Another good way to get rid of keloids is chamomile tea, make the tea and then lay the tea bag on the keloid, do that every night for 2 weeks and they will be gone. worked for all of mine.
Do not put methylated spirits, Tea Tree Oil, Peroxide, Betadine or Alcohol onto the wound as they are too astringent or damage the cells which form the sar tissue.

You should really clean this with sea salt and water solution. Because if you've just had your piercing done and it's gonna be gross, let's face it, I had mine done and i used boiling water with sea salt crystals and it dries it out so all you're left with is scabs which you can easily just wipe off with water and a cotton wool ball. Also, you're not supposed to clean it 3 days after you have it done anyway.
I feel so much better about this. I just got mine yesterday it was a spur of the moment decision when I was in Chicago with my dad. He said you wanna check out that piercing place next thing I knew I was in the chair.but this makes me feel so much better bout it. I just got it done yesterday and it only bleeds a little and doesn't hurt as much anymore. Now should I clean it more because I work at a fast food place? @MissInhaleExhale No, you should be moving it, that way it doesnt heal with the jewelry. Your piercer told you correctly what to do. Take some ibproufin to help with the pain

@Queenshebi2005 Its fine, i've had mine for a week now and it still bleeds loads, it just depends how quickly your body's trying to heal around it, everyones different, bleeding definitely doesn't mean infection so you should be fine :) Every piercing I've ever had has bled rather a lot, its just your body trying to fight it.

@dayanairayari wash your ear with mouthwash?!? weird. I would start with the soap because listerine has alcohol in it which can dry out the piercing. I dont even recommend listerine to people with tongue rings
@dayanairayari its how to clean it. You use the soap to clean and the salt helps it heal faster. Kinda like when you pull a tooth and u use salt to get it to stop bleeding? Same concept.

Hi. I got my industrial about 6 months ago and over time I've developed these weird bump like things on each hole. They are light bubble looking bumps. I've been soaking it in sea salt,using emu oil, the cleaning solution everything I can but its not going away. I know they're not keloids but I dont know what to do. Please help.

@iintOxiicatemeh Ive always had trouble with bactine, it makes healing take longer and the piercing really red and inflammed. I use h2ocean and it does a lot better. When it makes crusties, that means its healing so if it isnt making them, it may not be healing properly.

@residentevilbeast it's not hard to get an infection in your ear from this piercing. You can get an infection just by turning your earing. You just have to clean it at least 3 times a day.
I got mine done 2 months ago and today i just bought tea tree oilk because it was still big the area that got pierced and had these bumps around should i go see a doctor i have really sensitive skin !

I changed my bar and it has a small lightning bolt in the centre, which dosent move, and now the bar is stuck and i cant pull it out from either side :( I don't know what to do, because my ear has bumps still and keeps swelling
@Faydrums1 sorry but you may have a keloid or scarring.. wash it alot and put some mederma or neosporin on it then some tea tree oil.. hope this helps and go back to ur piercer they should help u.
so i had mine done in august of last year. and just today i found out that it takes forever to heal. and i took it out after about two months because i thought it was infected. but i just got it done again yesterday in the exact same spot, which was NOT smart to do. but i guess this time i'll not take it out.!

I got mine on Friday and the piercer told me to wash the outside with unscented antibacterial dial soap and use saline solution for the inside and move the bar up and down but it kinda hurts for me to do that so I just twist It alil but he didn't say anything about h2ocean spray or any kind of salt rinse should u get some or not?
i got my bar the Saturday after Christmas 2010....a bout a wee after i got it i was cleaning it and after wards i checked the balls on the end to make sure the weren't loose... well... some how i ended up twisting the top ball complected off and then... i pulled the piercing out....it bleeding a little but i put it back in and cleaned it... was it bad that it was bleeding....it was bleeding on the bottom...its fine now though....
That cleaning process is long, I've had mine for 2weeks now and I dont use anything on it, simple shower everyday as normal & dont even rub shampoo into it :)
But im not easily prone to infections & everyones different ; also mine does'nt hurt at all.. Soo lucky xD
When you say in your changing a industrial barbell your bumps can flare up. Can they still flare up even after you have completely got rid of them? And what can you do to pervent from getting the bumps ? x :]
also did you get it pierced with the bar? i had to get it done with 2 seperate bars or hoops it was your choice but they said they never pierce it with the bar straight away and change it into one bar after 6 months when its healed. I dunno maybe we do it different in uk
@hana48334 I think you do it differently in the UK because I got mine pierced 2 days ago and was talking to my piercer before hand and he said that the only proper and the safest way to pierce it was to pierce with one needle and insert the bar in right after the piercing. (I have a video of the actual piercing on my page if you want to see how he did it).
my piercer told me to never clean it with cotton buds or anything cotton because the particles get inside the peircing and cause irritation and infection, they also told me never to rotate it because things will get inside it but if your cleaning it and its lathered up like yours i guess its okay.

You should really clean this with sea salt and water solution. Because if you've just had your piercing done and it's gonna be gross, let's face it, I had mine done and i used boiling water with sea salt crystals and it dries it out so all you're left with is scabs which you can easily just wipe off with water and a cotton wool ball. Also, you're not supposed to clean it 3 days after you have it done anyway.

I feel so much better about this. I just got mine yesterday it was a spur of the moment decision when I was in Chicago with my dad. He said you wanna check out that piercing place next thing I knew I was in the chair.but this makes me feel so much better bout it. I just got it done yesterday and it only bleeds a little and doesn't hurt as much anymore. Now should I clean it more because I work at a fast food place? I just got my industrial done about 5 days ago and it's getting swollen & sore. Is that normal?? And I was also told by my piercer to just use H2ocean 4 times a day and move the piercing back and forth so it will go in my ear...even though it hurts to do that! Is it bad to move it around or should I continue doing it?

@MissInhaleExhale No, you should be moving it, that way it doesnt heal with the jewelry. Your piercer told you correctly what to do. Take some ibproufin to help with the pain

@Queenshebi2005 Its fine, i've had mine for a week now and it still bleeds loads, it just depends how quickly your body's trying to heal around it, everyones different, bleeding definitely doesn't mean infection so you should be fine :) Every piercing I've ever had has bled rather a lot, its just your body trying to fight it.

Hi. I got my industrial about 6 months ago and over time I've developed these weird bump like things on each hole. They are light bubble looking bumps. I've been soaking it in sea salt,using emu oil, the cleaning solution everything I can but its not going away. I know they're not keloids but I dont know what to do. Please help.

@iintOxiicatemeh Ive always had trouble with bactine, it makes healing take longer and the piercing really red and inflammed. I use h2ocean and it does a lot better. When it makes crusties, that means its healing so if it isnt making them, it may not be healing properly.

I just got my industrial about 3 days ago and i am paranoid of getting any sort of infection. For the past 2 days I've been having my mom clean it with bactine (my piercer recommended it.) and i haven't been bleeding like i was told would happen or have any kind of crusties at all!!. I'm not sure if it's normal. But anyways, since I got mine less than a week ago, should i be turning it and moving it up and down while using the bactine? I also was told to use dial hand soap (yellow one)

@residentevilbeast it's not hard to get an infection in your ear from this piercing. You can get an infection just by turning your earing. You just have to clean it at least 3 times a day.

the guy who peirced my ear just told me to wash my hands with unscented antibacterial soap before i clean, and clean it with band-aid brand antibacterial was, three times a day for 2 to 3 weeks, and to rotate it and push it up and down as i clean. do you think thats enough, or should i try the salt water stuff as well?

I got my industrial Wednesday and it is now Saturday almost.... It is red and puffy andq hurts kinda bad. Yesterday I fought myself playing with it accidentally without having it cleaned but I cleaned it as soon as I got home from school....it was a couple hours later. It really hurts to clean it with a q tip.....advice? I really cant touch it at all without it hurting...

i just got my industrial yesterday and i tryed soaping it up, letting it sit then moving it up and down like in your video but the industrial doesn't want to move . it doesn't hurt when i touch it but it hurts a bit if i move it. should i just clean it with out moving it up and down then try it again in a few days.

I got mine on Friday and the piercer told me to wash the outside with unscented antibacterial dial soap and use saline solution for the inside and move the bar up and down but it kinda hurts for me to do that so I just twist It alil but he didn't say anything about h2ocean spray or any kind of salt rinse should u get some or not?

i got my bar the Saturday after Christmas 2010....a bout a wee after i got it i was cleaning it and after wards i checked the balls on the end to make sure the weren't loose... well... some how i ended up twisting the top ball complected off and then... i pulled the piercing out....it bleeding a little but i put it back in and cleaned it... was it bad that it was bleeding....it was bleeding on the bottom...its fine now though....

That cleaning process is long, I've had mine for 2weeks now and I dont use anything on it, simple shower everyday as normal & dont even rub shampoo into it :)
But im not easily prone to infections & everyones different ; also mine does'nt hurt at all.. Soo lucky xD

also did you get it pierced with the bar? i had to get it done with 2 seperate bars or hoops it was your choice but they said they never pierce it with the bar straight away and change it into one bar after 6 months when its healed. I dunno maybe we do it different in uk

@hana48334 I think you do it differently in the UK because I got mine pierced 2 days ago and was talking to my piercer before hand and he said that the only proper and the safest way to pierce it was to pierce with one needle and insert the bar in right after the piercing. (I have a video of the actual piercing on my page if you want to see how he did it).

my piercer told me to never clean it with cotton buds or anything cotton because the particles get inside the peircing and cause irritation and infection, they also told me never to rotate it because things will get inside it but if your cleaning it and its lathered up like yours i guess its okay.
