Funny thing happened a while ago. I have embarqmail. On the news section a few hours ago, there was a pic of the house speaker and several other congressmen/senators. The caption beside it said "Bailout Passes". I just rechecked it and NOW it says "Rescue Plan passes"..... Hmmmmmm, why'd they change the wording? I think Nancy Pelosi must have called them.
You show an major lack of understanding of the issues. True the crisis wouldn't have happened if there weren't bad loans, but that's like saying murders wouldn't happen without bullets. What caused this crisis was the repakaging of these bad loans into AAA paper. Had the loans been valued properly we would not be here. This is rampant criminality in our banking system folks, and the bankers and short sellers have stolen your money. For the future of our country please educate yourselves.
I always wanted to know what it was like to live in a 3rd world country now we will have the chance to experience it without the hassle of packing clothes and taking a long plane ride to some remote shithole, my aren't we lucky

Wait, so McCain was "concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Freddie and Fannie" but he also " doesn't know much about economics" Please. He was at best playing his cards very well. Just because the video is critical of Obama shouldn't mean the republicans look good, there is a 3rd party, the american people!
This is a priceless video and it's up on my Multiply blog page right now.
Now if only you could show this to the two prosecutors in Missouri who will put in jail anyone who says anything bad about Obama with law enforcement backing them there in Kansas City, MO.
Dems threatened hearings if poor/minorities did not get their share of zero down sub-prime loans
Millions of poor borrowers lived paycheck to paycheck, had no savings record, spotty credit, and soft employment history, and/or did not qualify for the loan needed to purchase a middle class house
Decades of proven loan practices were scrapped to allow political pandering and there was plenty to go around: parties for democrats, bonuses for unfit liberal bankers, etc.
Nice job! You might want to add some pertinent URLs to the info panels of your videos so people can easily right-click over to the resources you're highlighting. Keep up the good work!

Sigh, for some no explanation is necessary. For others no explanation is possible. I was ignorant of the socialist nature of those cute-sounding institutions called 'Fannie May' and Freddie Mac'. I'm part of the problem for not being more aware of what government was up to 15-20 years ago when all of this came about. It all makes perfect sense of why housing prices have risen so dramatically over the last 20 years. Government interference into the Free Market will screw up the works EVERY TIME!
That's pretty lame, I'm sorry. The war in Iraq did put pressure on the US budget for sure. But don't confuse government spending with poor economic policies that caused this credit crunch. Anyone who knows anything about economics knows that the subprime mortgage crisis, indeed introduced by the CRA and other financial instruments encouraged by the dems, is what exacerbated the crisis. That's what happens when economic policies are based on social welfare. No economic principle behind it.
Everyone in the country should know that this mess is the result of Democrat-engineered, government-mandated affirmative action lending. Stingy bankers don't willing give mortgages to the unqualified. Get real. Let's be honest and spread the word. Your future depends on it.

Great use of facts...which is precisely why it will get slammed and ignored by bloggers et al who now where the "real news" people go to get their news.
OK, the NYSlimes is accusing a McCain adviser of receiving 5% as much as BO's advisers from Fan & Fred. And McCain received a tiny fraction of what BO received from Fred & Fan.
McCain has been calling for more oversight & more regulation of F & F for years, & BO hasn't.
the new york times is reporting that mccain's campaign manager received $2 million over 5 years from fannie and freddie explicitly to fight regulations. the $hit is hitting the fan my friends.
I hate to rain on your parade, but if you want to make a vid resembling some sort of truth, then you would have included the fact that McCain also recieved from freddy mac and fannie may. But do go on, you republican's don't ever seem to let the facts stand in your way, that's what I love about you people.
First Obama is to 'inexperienced' and hasn't passed enought legalisation and now he's that fucking master mind more powerful than the entire federal government thereby causing the Economic Crisis?
MCCAIN has always been against regulations and wanted to have our Social Security mixed up in all of this if he had his way. Thank goodness America is waking up before it's too late. It's time to flush ALL of the Rethugs (save a few good ones left)straight down the toilet. Hey...We got a great place where you can all go and be with some of your kindred spirits. A place where there are lots of rapists, pillagers, holier than thou and inbred...Alaska!
They were Government Sponsored Securities that became worthless.
A bailout is just a loan, by the way. AIG has to pay it back, but I am sure you did not know that.
...and I suppose you prefer a total economic collapse.
The Democrats caused this with the Community Reinvestment Act, it is no surprise that Housing Prices took off in 1996, the year after it was enacted. It forced banks to give subprime loans. But I am sure that you knew about that. It is what caused this mess.
Phil Gramm made strong efforts to pass this Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act in 1999, it served to reduce government regulations, separating banking, insurance and brokerage activities. So the argument is that 'this may have been pivotal in encouraging the corporate practices' that led to what we have now.
the community reinvestment act of 1995 was bipartisan. republicans had 6 years of complete control to change this but didnt. homeowners lenders and investors all stupidly thought housing prices would go up forever. but i blame the great satan barack obama. and mccain the hero knows exactly how to fix this. and the earth is flat.
It might have "FORCED" banks, if you like. Who FORCED the securitization of that debt? Who forced the brokers to break up and peddle shares in bad debt?
You're not an economist, nobody credible is making this claim that anyone was forced to make loans to bad risks. That's an absolutely false claim.
Go read the actual act itself. It absolutely says that if you take deposit accounts in a neighborhood, you have to issue an equal amount of loans in that neighborhood.
The holder of a checking account in a poor neighborhood does not automatically qualify them for a mortgage, but the CRA says that it does, de facto.
In 1994 Obama sued Citibank for this very reason and won, so the facts suggest that they were legally forced to do this.
Maybe John McCain will seal our borders so that nobody inside America can leave even if they were sure they could legally do so. But then they'll be taken on a virtual reality trip where they think they are leaving the country, and they're only looking at virtual countries and virtual people.
Maybe the world is flat and there isn't any outside countries and America is the whole world, like The Truman Show, or that episode of South Park "Canceled." /shrug who knows? Anyone know? Does it matter if you know.
OK so you can't live without money very well. But just because everything is coming to a collapse and maybe a lot of people will die doesn't mean they don't deserve it. What is wrong with death to America? Do we deserve it?
The ground produces everything we need, if you don't mind living like a human being instead of a demigod. If we could reasonably defend our water rights, we wouldn't need money.
Well, if everybody has the right to the pursuit of progress, then it also means that we should try to satisfy our wants and desires and even maybe live like demigods if we want to.
I don't think the president today or yesterday is all that powerful though because people hardly listen to Bush and they hardly listened to Clinton or Reagan or Carter, and other examples. And since Barack Obama doesn't anything to say, and since McCain has even less to say, it doesn't matter if anyone listens to them.
If you believe that Jesus is the king (Messiah / Christ) then you believe that you shouldn't have any other king. But we've given the American president powers of a king. Did he always have powers of a king? I Mean, hasn't he gotten more and more powers after various laws have been passed?
Maybe John McCain shouldn't have fought against Fannie and Mac.
Look, you guys care about who becomes president WAYYYYYY too much. It doesn't matter very much who becomes president. A president isn't even supposed to be that powerful. The Republicans have been especially enthusiastic in reducing the influence of the Constitution and increasing the power of the president so that he is like a king. You want a king? If you want a king, then u don't want to vote, b/c you can't vote for a king.
Well where did you think he came from? I mean only like 4 years ago nobody had heard of him. He just appeared on TV everybody on TV said he was great so everybody listening to TV said he was great or bad.
If any of you were informed you would vote third party. By informed I do'nt mean MSM brainwashing or watching youtube. Research how things work, voting records, the federal reserve,ect... Find out who owns these clowns. You personalize these puppets too much. Think about what a 3rd party candidate has to do just to get on the ballots. Think about why the 2 party system gets to make all the rules. Most of all THINK FOR YOURSELVES SHEEPLE! Why do you think the republicrats don't want to debate them?
Not a bad suggestion. John McCain is about as third party as you can get and still back a credible candidate. He does not mind telling Republicans to go screw. Think about that.
Great video! Yet more Obama 'friends' and 'advisors' he will throw under the bus. It's never his fault that he associates with people of this ilk, is it???
Americans better wake up and see what is happening right before our eyes. The destruction of America is in process. It is time to take back our country from the hands of the ones who are out to destroy it.
THIS should be the McCain ad running on TV about this FIASCO instead of the lame one they put out there.
If the McCain Campaign were smart, they would start listening to suggestinos from the PEOPLE. We're SMARTER than you give us credit for as evidenced by this excellent YouTube. This trumps the "professional" McCain Commercial about this subject hands down. Good work. Pass it on to EVERYONE you know - all your lists.
yes it would be brilliant for mccain to pay to air an amateur's 9-minute TV ad on an absurd premise: that obama caused the financial crisis. good call.
well you didn't say that, countingyourowncontradictions. but i agree now: 30 seconds of stupidity would be less of a waste than 9 minutes of stupidity.
Actually-- they did. Well, sorta. They threatened to label a bank 'racist' if they didn't put out those mortgages. (they got help from groups like acorn) Nobody in the banking industry wanted that.
I work for the financial industry, i don't particularly like deregulation either. The removal of the Glass STeagall act was passed by a Dem, those freedoms were a total accessory to this mess and is now a hairy issue with this bailout stuff. Who's insured? What's insured? The fine lines are hairy, the proposal itself needs lots of transparancy.
I cannot believe the Television/Radio/Newspaper Media Giants aren't reporting what every informed American already knows about this fiasco! I'm afraid the country will find out far too late. It is truly scary how someone like Obama, with the help of corrupt power players, could actually become President of our country in the age of information. God help the clueless youth of the United States!
Might want to try doing some research and VETTING of your candidate instead of believing the false messiah. Might want to start with the article "Operation Board Games".
Thanks for making this video. Obama is running the most deceitful, shameful campaign in recent history. I am shocked at the hate emanating from the Left. To have this group in the White House will be a change, alright, but definitely not a good change for America.
America needs a couple of Reformers, not a group of haters.
i knew it! obama caused the stock market crisis! your vid about sarah palin being experienced was absurd but more convinsing. how much does the mccain campaign pay u to make crap vids?
I do it to get the satisfaction of reading perturbed e-mails form people like you. I do it because people deserve to know that Obama befriends he same people who gave away no-interest, no down-payment mortgages to people who could not afford them, which cratered our economy so now he can run against the damage his cronies created. All those people kicked out of their homes? Obama's best friends got rich doing it. How does that make you feel?
so u think fannie mae gives mortgages to people? maybe this is why your small brain is so confuzed. they buy mortgages from banks and mortgage companies who were doing the predatory lending. if you think obama is to blame for the deregulaiton of the banking industry over time than you need psycheatric help. does mccain pay u enough for that?
That is why "giving" is in quotes. The Clinton Administration passed laws that penalized banks for not giving enough low-income loans. Fannie Mae was then used to enable the "giving" of those loans by agreeing to guarantee them and buy them up. They then mixed those loans in with the "good" loans and sold them off as securities to the banks. Fannie Mae created the subprime market, and then made their securities impossible to value because they hid the bad loans in them.
Fannie Mae gives the banks guarantees on those mortgages. What they doe is take the one loan you made and trade it for securities which are a mix of loans from other banks. This way the bank can make interest off the loan it made, but diversify its holdings with loans from other parts of the country. Fannie Mae was mixing bad loans in with those securities, and then made impossible to tell how many bad loans there were by overstating their asset basis in their financial reports. Shell game.
Unfortunately, because of the bad taste left in everyone's mouth after Bush, I worry that we as a people are being sold that everything Republican is bad and Democrat equals good. As we can see, both parties are full of corruption and need a good housecleaning. I just hope that people don't run from one inexperienced, bought politician on the right side to his equivalent on the left.
A) Obama had NOTHING to do with those policies.
B) In 1995, there was a REPUBLICAN Congress
C) If those policies were 'flawed', why hasn't the Republican Leadership revised it over the past EIGHT YEARS???
D) This doesn't excuse the LACK of oversight for the past EIGHT YEARS
E) This doesn't address the FRAUD that's transpired over the past EIGHT YEARS in the industry.

Get a clue before you post. It had nothing to do with the issuance of mortgages, it had to do with getting money for community upkeep.
TheMouthPeace 3 years ago
I hate to rain on your parade, but if you want to make a vid resembling some sort of truth, then you would have included the fact that McCain also recieved from freddy mac and fannie may. But do go on, you republican's don't ever seem to let the facts stand in your way, that's what I love about you people.
Conspiratorpress 3 years ago
The video says how much McCain got. He got $832 a year on average, but most of that was a long time ago.
Obama got $42,200 a year, over the last 2 years.
Sorry, facts suck for you.

This is great! Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I will defintely share it with the folks.. McCain/Palin 2008

Housing Enterprise Regulatory Act of 2005
John McCain wanted to regulate them. He is against bad regulation.
Stop spreading lies...

Funny that the Bush admin. is behind these bailouts, considering they are so vocal about how Government has no reason or right to bail companies out.
Not to mention he wasn't even on Fannie's payroll. Darn!
MForce2k 3 years ago 2
They were Government Sponsored Securities that became worthless.
A bailout is just a loan, by the way. AIG has to pay it back, but I am sure you did not know that.
...and I suppose you prefer a total economic collapse.
The Democrats caused this with the Community Reinvestment Act, it is no surprise that Housing Prices took off in 1996, the year after it was enacted. It forced banks to give subprime loans. But I am sure that you knew about that. It is what caused this mess.
TheMouthPeace 3 years ago
If you didn't already know..
Phil Gramm made strong efforts to pass this Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act in 1999, it served to reduce government regulations, separating banking, insurance and brokerage activities. So the argument is that 'this may have been pivotal in encouraging the corporate practices' that led to what we have now.
jd4eva645 3 years ago
BS. It was Fannie Mae and the Community Reinvestment Act in 1995 that created the subprime market. It FORCED banks to issue subprime loans.
How is that for good regulation?
The banks went broke because they were stupid enough to buy securities from a Quasi-Government Agency run by Democrats.
Just Google it and learn.
TheMouthPeace 3 years ago
the community reinvestment act of 1995 was bipartisan. republicans had 6 years of complete control to change this but didnt. homeowners lenders and investors all stupidly thought housing prices would go up forever. but i blame the great satan barack obama. and mccain the hero knows exactly how to fix this. and the earth is flat.
blangston86 3 years ago
Well you know two out of three isn't bad, sorry the Earth is NOT flat.
jick111 3 years ago
It might have "FORCED" banks, if you like. Who FORCED the securitization of that debt? Who forced the brokers to break up and peddle shares in bad debt?
You're not an economist, nobody credible is making this claim that anyone was forced to make loans to bad risks. That's an absolutely false claim.
tobor0 3 years ago
Go read the actual act itself. It absolutely says that if you take deposit accounts in a neighborhood, you have to issue an equal amount of loans in that neighborhood.
The holder of a checking account in a poor neighborhood does not automatically qualify them for a mortgage, but the CRA says that it does, de facto.
In 1994 Obama sued Citibank for this very reason and won, so the facts suggest that they were legally forced to do this.
...and I am an economist. The WSJ has said it.
TheMouthPeace 3 years ago
Awesome video. I'm sending it out quickly to as many people as I can. It will be a pleasure to vote against Obama.

Maybe John McCain will seal our borders so that nobody inside America can leave even if they were sure they could legally do so. But then they'll be taken on a virtual reality trip where they think they are leaving the country, and they're only looking at virtual countries and virtual people.
erelriuj 3 years ago
Maybe the world is flat and there isn't any outside countries and America is the whole world, like The Truman Show, or that episode of South Park "Canceled." /shrug who knows? Anyone know? Does it matter if you know.

GREAT video. It shows that Obama's judgement is sorely lacking.
Go McCain/Palin... They have proven themselves!

OK so you can't live without money very well. But just because everything is coming to a collapse and maybe a lot of people will die doesn't mean they don't deserve it. What is wrong with death to America? Do we deserve it?
erelriuj 3 years ago
The ground produces everything we need, if you don't mind living like a human being instead of a demigod. If we could reasonably defend our water rights, we wouldn't need money.

Rights are stupid. I don't believe in issuing people rights, whether they're from God or from the government.
erelriuj 3 years ago
If my ancestor was John Dickinson, well he didn't sign the constitution. Maybe he knew better.
erelriuj 3 years ago
I guess that's the idea behind rights, is that they can't be "issued" or revoked...nobody has that authority.
Otherwise, the truth is determined by whoever has the biggest army.
waggabu 3 years ago
Well, if everybody has the right to the pursuit of progress, then it also means that we should try to satisfy our wants and desires and even maybe live like demigods if we want to.
erelriuj 3 years ago
I mean to the pursuit of happiness.

Never mind. If my ancestor was John Dickinson, then he should have known better.

I don't think the president today or yesterday is all that powerful though because people hardly listen to Bush and they hardly listened to Clinton or Reagan or Carter, and other examples. And since Barack Obama doesn't anything to say, and since McCain has even less to say, it doesn't matter if anyone listens to them.
erelriuj 3 years ago
If you believe that Jesus is the king (Messiah / Christ) then you believe that you shouldn't have any other king. But we've given the American president powers of a king. Did he always have powers of a king? I Mean, hasn't he gotten more and more powers after various laws have been passed?
erelriuj 3 years ago
Maybe John McCain shouldn't have fought against Fannie and Mac.
Look, you guys care about who becomes president WAYYYYYY too much. It doesn't matter very much who becomes president. A president isn't even supposed to be that powerful. The Republicans have been especially enthusiastic in reducing the influence of the Constitution and increasing the power of the president so that he is like a king. You want a king? If you want a king, then u don't want to vote, b/c you can't vote for a king.
erelriuj 3 years ago
Well where did you think he came from? I mean only like 4 years ago nobody had heard of him. He just appeared on TV everybody on TV said he was great so everybody listening to TV said he was great or bad.
erelriuj 3 years ago
If any of you were informed you would vote third party. By informed I do'nt mean MSM brainwashing or watching youtube. Research how things work, voting records, the federal reserve,ect... Find out who owns these clowns. You personalize these puppets too much. Think about what a 3rd party candidate has to do just to get on the ballots. Think about why the 2 party system gets to make all the rules. Most of all THINK FOR YOURSELVES SHEEPLE! Why do you think the republicrats don't want to debate them?
wolfhybred 3 years ago
Not a bad suggestion. John McCain is about as third party as you can get and still back a credible candidate. He does not mind telling Republicans to go screw. Think about that.

I was going to. Palin changed my mind though. I've liked her since April. BTW- I am informed. Former Libertarian EXCOM of KS member.

Good work. Pass it on to EVERYONE you know - all your lists.

yes it would be brilliant for mccain to pay to air an amateur's 9-minute TV ad on an absurd premise: that obama caused the financial crisis. good call.

it's called editing blangston86 - get a clue.

well you didn't say that, countingyourowncontradictions. but i agree now: 30 seconds of stupidity would be less of a waste than 9 minutes of stupidity.
blangston86 3 years ago
Better than 4 years of stupidity...
Obama did not cause it, his friends did. Forcing banks to issue low-income mortgages did. Charlie Rangel did. Barney Frank did. Chris Dodd did.
They caused this foreclosure crisis. Obama looked the other way and is now running as the cure for his own disease.
What a sham.
TheMouthPeace 3 years ago
nobody forced banks to issue low-income morgages are u out of your mind?
blangston86 3 years ago
Sure they did. Obama sued them if they did not. His law firm did. He sued Citibank for just that reason.
Everybody, go read the Wikipedia page on this act and see if blangston86 is telling the truth. It is pretty clear he is not.
TheMouthPeace 3 years ago
Actually-- they did. Well, sorta. They threatened to label a bank 'racist' if they didn't put out those mortgages. (they got help from groups like acorn) Nobody in the banking industry wanted that.
destrecht 3 years ago 8

God help the clueless youth of the United States!
laughatanger 3 years ago 2
in the age of information maybe you should be more specific about what's so "scary" about obama. inform us plz.
blangston86 3 years ago
Might want to try doing some research and VETTING of your candidate instead of believing the false messiah. Might want to start with the article "Operation Board Games".

Thanks for making this video. Obama is running the most deceitful, shameful campaign in recent history. I am shocked at the hate emanating from the Left. To have this group in the White House will be a change, alright, but definitely not a good change for America.
America needs a couple of Reformers, not a group of haters.
Caffey85 3 years ago 2
i knew it! obama caused the stock market crisis! your vid about sarah palin being experienced was absurd but more convinsing. how much does the mccain campaign pay u to make crap vids?
blangston86 3 years ago
I do it to get the satisfaction of reading perturbed e-mails form people like you. I do it because people deserve to know that Obama befriends he same people who gave away no-interest, no down-payment mortgages to people who could not afford them, which cratered our economy so now he can run against the damage his cronies created. All those people kicked out of their homes? Obama's best friends got rich doing it. How does that make you feel?
TheMouthPeace 3 years ago
so u think fannie mae gives mortgages to people? maybe this is why your small brain is so confuzed. they buy mortgages from banks and mortgage companies who were doing the predatory lending. if you think obama is to blame for the deregulaiton of the banking industry over time than you need psycheatric help. does mccain pay u enough for that?
blangston86 3 years ago
That is why "giving" is in quotes. The Clinton Administration passed laws that penalized banks for not giving enough low-income loans. Fannie Mae was then used to enable the "giving" of those loans by agreeing to guarantee them and buy them up. They then mixed those loans in with the "good" loans and sold them off as securities to the banks. Fannie Mae created the subprime market, and then made their securities impossible to value because they hid the bad loans in them.
TheMouthPeace 3 years ago
Fannie Mae gives the banks guarantees on those mortgages. What they doe is take the one loan you made and trade it for securities which are a mix of loans from other banks. This way the bank can make interest off the loan it made, but diversify its holdings with loans from other parts of the country. Fannie Mae was mixing bad loans in with those securities, and then made impossible to tell how many bad loans there were by overstating their asset basis in their financial reports. Shell game.
TheMouthPeace 3 years ago
Unfortunately, because of the bad taste left in everyone's mouth after Bush, I worry that we as a people are being sold that everything Republican is bad and Democrat equals good. As we can see, both parties are full of corruption and need a good housecleaning. I just hope that people don't run from one inexperienced, bought politician on the right side to his equivalent on the left.
