george's playing progressed really fast. In this tape he plays very stiff, choppy and unsure of himself but by 1964 he was worlds better. Like the way he played the lead guitar part on "till there was you" on the Ed Sullivan Show
@rickeap ? Excuse me but no one likes your gay azz negitivity and it makes you so tough to come to this video and rip on them, they did go some where and its called The Beatles!
@TheMaddster2000 LOL. Bro, It was obviously a joke. "These guys won't go anywhere", when today, they are the most talented, and most well-known group in history.
@nastar1 -Decca didn't help Best with using cheap equipment to record his drums. Granted it wasn't easy to record drums in 1962, but this is cheap gear I'm hearing.
The singer is Davy Jones. He was the original lead singer of "the Silver Beatles" before he started the Monkees. John Lennon then created simply "the Beatles" which ripped off a lot of the Monkees songs. Just a fact.

listen "live at the bbc" version and decide. what a change in vocal, guitar! they were very very talented musicians, no doubt. but it's not quite lennon-ish sing-a-song style and absolutely not george. looks like fake but i'm sure it isn't. i think that's because they were so nervous. i mean first time in studio, well maybe the second (my bonnie etc.) but they must be so nervous.
It's John of course ,he sang most Chuck Berry songs the beatles covered. There was two songs that were Chuck Berry did that beatles did versions of that John didn't sing lead vocals on
Grahamjarman you must do ketamine. Whoever considers them self a Beatles fan would not lie about looking up George singing this song (it is obviously Lennon), and 2 would know right when he heard the first line that it was Lennon.

This is a Chuck Berry Song, and John does it justice, as does George with the actual CB lead parts. Very Cool!
