Good, competitive fight. Great smaller man vs a very good bigger man. Julio Cesar Vasquez was a southpaw that could bang. I would take Pernell Because has just as good a defense as Floyd does but he is more aggressive and knows how to do it without being reckless.Not to mention the southpaw stance and he displayed more power in his accent up the ladder to the higher weight classes.

EXACTLY! Vasquez was BIGGER STRONGER HARDER HITTING More exprienced version of Margarito. He bounced Winky Wright like a BASKETBALL dropping him 5-TIMES and beating him. PRIME Terry Norris wanted no part of him. He was the most DANGEROUS & avoided elite fighter of his time (early -mid 90's) and Pernell a former light weight champion with no power takes him on and beats him. Yeah, Vazquez was very dangerous. Not only did Whitaker beat him, he did it easily. I was a kid when I saw that fight and I remember Whitaker pretty much won every round.

I also watched this fight last night as well. This fight was actually a lot closer than some people think. What messed Vasquez up was the numerous point deductions against him for rabbit punching, and he failed to go to the body against Whitaker. Remember Whitaker fought very flat-footed in this fight and got caught more than he would have liked to. I think Whitaker would have had serious problems with Terry Norris(although Terry was slipping around this time as well)if they would have fought in
