yea Wankel (the inventor of rotary) originally worked for mercedes and developed the idea for the rotary, mercedes used the rotary for a while than mazda bought the idea years later. does anyone know if mercedes is still using the rotary on any models?
GM, Ford, Mercedes, and many others licensed the technology, but none ever made it out of the prototype stage. Mazda has been the only one to produce a rotary powered car in the last 20+ years.
the rotor spins once for every 3 times the eccentric shaft thats why they spin faster and the reason for the spinning is because it acts as a makeshift crankshaft
haha yip its going the wrong way i fucked my seals up on my s4 rx7 and am in the process of taking my engine out 80% there im new to australia from new zealnd so i was wondering if any1 knows wea i can get some rotor parts near brisbane ???? thanx
its just reversed it looks like its going the wrong way but he is actually using the front housing with the front cover instead of the back iron..... :D
It looks like it is turning the wrong way because you are looking at the back of it, if it were mounted in the car and you were looking at it from the front you would notice that the intake and exhasut ports are on the left and the plugs are on the right, yet in the video that is cleary reversed.
the enging is turning the right way the intake stroke is at the top. as for twin rotors both rotors do spin the same way as the eccentric shaft can only turn one way, the rotors are how ever 180 degrees apart in their cycle
Would make a mean pencil sharpener.

yea its too bad they haven't developed it any further than it is now. it has a lot of potential
musclekid13 2 years ago
sad but it has not much potential it need scompered to the other engine huge amounts of fuel and in our days its all about fuel economy bla blabla

i still dont understand how the middle part spins in these. it seems to go faster than the rotor itself

Yes its going the other way, Nismo go learn physics and then work out why its impossible for them to go the opposite way....
