  • Would make a mean pencil sharpener.

  • 40 years now

  • yea Wankel (the inventor of rotary) originally worked for mercedes and developed the idea for the rotary, mercedes used the rotary for a while than mazda bought the idea years later. does anyone know if mercedes is still using the rotary on any models?

  • GM, Ford, Mercedes, and many others licensed the technology, but none ever made it out of the prototype stage. Mazda has been the only one to produce a rotary powered car in the last 20+ years.

  • yea its too bad they haven't developed it any further than it is now. it has a lot of potential

  • sad but it has not much potential it need scompered to the other engine huge amounts of fuel and in our days its all about fuel economy bla blabla

  • talk about cheap shit

  • thats so badass. this is the first time i see a real one..not just a visual effect.

  • no way its a fuckin spirograph i had one as a kid.

  • Where was that shot, looks like the one I stripped for display at Weymouth tech!

  • Owl's Head Transport Museum, just out of Rocland, Maine

  • Oh it ain't my one then, same bolts tho!

  • correct me if i'm wrong.. but i think Mazda is the only one making rotary engine.

  • mercedes

  • thats called excessive knock

  • i still dont understand how the middle part spins in these. it seems to go faster than the rotor itself

  • the rotor spins once for every 3 times the eccentric shaft thats why they spin faster and the reason for the spinning is because it acts as a makeshift crankshaft

  • Never mind, I just noticed the tag.

  • Is that a Mazda rotary engine? It looks like one.

  • yes

  • correct me if i'm wrong.. but i think mazda is the only one making rotary engine

  • suzuki re5, mercades had a prototype, and some older lawnmowers, and a truck from mazda

  • ok thx.. i don't know too much about imports

  • Sounds SOO wrong. Someone plz fix it, I can't watch :(

  • the stationary gear is loose.

  • haha yip its going the wrong way i fucked my seals up on my s4 rx7 and am in the process of taking my engine out 80% there im new to australia from new zealnd so i was wondering if any1 knows wea i can get some rotor parts near brisbane ???? thanx

  • its just reversed it looks like its going the wrong way but he is actually using the front housing with the front cover instead of the back iron..... :D

  • Yes its going the other way, Nismo go learn physics and then work out why its impossible for them to go the opposite way....

  • It looks like it is turning the wrong way because you are looking at the back of it, if it were mounted in the car and you were looking at it from the front you would notice that the intake and exhasut ports are on the left and the plugs are on the right, yet in the video that is cleary reversed.

  • why is it going the wrong way?

  • the enging is turning the right way the intake stroke is at the top. as for twin rotors both rotors do spin the same way as the eccentric shaft can only turn one way, the rotors are how ever 180 degrees apart in their cycle

  • TWO WORDS

    ANAL SEX

  • what is your problem

  • engine sounds a little dry :-P lol

  • 13b 12a are twin rotor. they wouldnt both go the same way

  • Are you serious?

  • why is it going the other way?
