  • this is amazing, and the video made me cry ;u;

  • @popularpotato hahahaha. troll.

  • @officialperson this made me laugh.

  • This is my favourite song by Emmy, its so sad and still not at all over sentimental

I saw her last summer and she was wonderful :)

  • I don't see how this song is twisted...devastatingly sad perhaps, but not twisted. I dislike the video but the song is incredible, I tear up every time I listen to it. <3 Emmy the Great, Emmy the Incredible more like.

  • i just love this...i love her, i think shes amazing and these people like Akon....Jay z and crap get so much hype where as these people are so much better.... and produtive...lol

  • Great song, could need some producing tho perhaps.

  • This is kinda twisted XD

And she has such an innocent voice with it...

  • Unless it's her brother or father perhaps?

    Just a thought.

  • Or for that matter it could be a mother, sister, or loved friend. Nowhere in the song does it actually say who the person she's in the car with is.

  • goddamn!

  • somewhere in Nottingham!

not sure of the venue, my friend's taking me.

  • oh ok

    im going in london

  • im going in london tooooo :D :D

  • Emmy, would you marry me:)

  • yes

  • This is the most twisted song! I love it. lol

  • I've been a fan of Emmy since I heard her on XFM Exposure a couple of years ago and eventually saw her at Reading festival this summer - so good I had goosebumps throughout. I can't wait to see her again in November; since Reading this has become one my favorite songs.

  • I've loved this song since I saw Emmy perform it sometime last summer. It's such a compelling and intriguing melody yet is juxtaposed terrifyingly with the horrors of the accident. It leaves me stuck between wanting to know more... and wanting to know far less. This video is fantastic and suits the mood so perfectly, giving just a hazy view of the story, just like we receive in the song. I'd love to see you come back to Kendal again Emmy!

  • Emmy is incredible. To me the unusual words she chooses and how she sings them perfectly fit the situation. It's a feeling of shock and emptiness. Suddenly nothing matters anymore, as what has just happened makes everything insignificant. So you might as well think about whether it's Mia or M.I.A.

    Beautiful, just beautiful...

  • my new favorite band

  • IS her name Mia or M.I.A. I've always been confused about that...

  • its M.I.A.

  • isnt she called emma lee-moss?

  • less is more

  • isnt she supposed to be lying in the car crash while shes singing this, and the flippancy your talking about is because shes contemplating life whilst shes laying there and is just in an odd state of euphoria? and shes running through all these pointless tasks that need doing, and turns her attention to the radio.

thats how i figured it anyway ^_^

  • that's just how i saw it, jabbott376. the 'coldness' another poster commented on is a function of the anaesthetised, dissociated voice that drifts over various topics as the speaker lies dazed after the crash. it's a great way of mixing up seeminly banal shards of consciousness with the horrific details of the accident, and leaves a lot tantalisingly implicit. for instance: 'who's going to cancel my date?' is the real horror of the song that she was planning to cheat on her companion?

  • by the way, i just can't work out the lyrics in the second bridge. can anyone help?

    and you and me

are still but the scenery moves

well why would it stop just cos suddenly there's one where there used to be two

    and everything's quiet

    but . . . looks like the speaker . . .

still playing some compilation we made

feels like a lifetime sitting alone

so i start humming along to the tape

  • just because he's dead it doesn't mean that everything else stops

    basically life goes on

    i put that really nicely(!)

  • But...looks like the speaker lived through the blow.

I dunno what the first bit is. I just always go But it looks like the speaker etc

  • canopies and grapes is great

  • pretty legend

    it now makes more sense

    x

  • This is ok. As for whether it's true, maybe she's a bit like Conor bright eyes. His brother didn't die in a bathtub.

  • I saw Emmy on Sunday at King Tut's, she's fantastic! Will definitely be keeping an eye out for her in future...

  • Does anybody know if this is a true story? She seems to very flippantly discuss very heavy themes (Edward is Dedward etc...)... It's powerful stuff x xx

  • i read an interview with were she was saying how she writes about situations that are made up or at least not about her... i cant find edward is deadward anywhere

this sounds personal tho.. when she says "i still remember holding my hand against your face just before it was sprayed" do you think shes implying that she made him/her crash? like is that against as in she was messing around, or as in caressing him/her? is the song meant to be sad and tender or do yous think its a bit heartless?

  • I think its a brilliant style of song writing. It's really intense the way she seems to be so cold towards these things that would probably leave a massive impression on you. then again this is probably a way for her to talk about these things, tis good.

  • She said at a show I was at once that if all the songs she wrote were real she wouldn't be alive still (implying she probably would have taken her own life by now). I think she just is really good at writing sad things.

  • i'm edward,still alive

  • ive heard that emmy the great will be the next kate gash if she decides to go ahead with new controversial east end surgery to turn her vowels into cockney arm pit farts and expand her head to the size of a guiness book of records breaking pumpkin.

  • Very nice, Maud.

  • This is a really original video. I love it!

  • hi this video is funny and Emmy the great songs are amazing. Hope she will play in Paris ^^.

    Thanks for the video.
