im having trouble starting ubuntu it says error 15 cannot find menu.lst i have menu.lst EXACTLY where it looks but it doesnt see it i guess how do i fix this MESSAGE ME
It wouldn't technically be installed on Vista but what you would do is download and burn an iso, then reboot the computer using the cd...might need to hit f12 or something like that to get the cd going but the installer should take you through sensible steps after that. post back if you have any questions.
You could install Vmware(Virtual Machine) on your computer, and that will allow to install Ubuntu on a MS machine. And to do the opposite you would use [Virtual Box] to run an MS OS in/on a Linux machine.

Gaim! Forum take about century in a half! They can't even answer a simple question! Like how do I access my second partition in ubuntu. I expected that if I make an ubuntu partition, that ubuntu can access it!But to noo! I have to command line ape shit!
Ubuntu may not mount the partition automatically, you'll most likely need to use the mount command to connect it temporarily. once you have the right settings, you can put another entry in your /etc/fstab. Good luck.
This has the potential to become an epic thread but ok, let's do it. It sounds like you might have it read-only. You should check permissions on your mount point. Also do mount and see what options are enabled in the mount for that partition. Mine says: rw,nosuid,nodev,noatime,allow_other
The video you used for response has nothing to do with this one. If you're going to mount a drive, you have to choose a place to mount it to, say: /mnt/windows. So I'm saying go to /mnt and do ls -l at the command line to see if it says drw rw rw. If the mount point doesn't have the rw's and you don't see rw for that drive with you do "mount" at the command line, then you're probably not going to be able to write to it.
I installed it and use it about 95% of the time for my own overall use. If you have Ubuntu, Beryl can be obtained through Synaptic at System -> System Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager.
