I liked the 2010 MS3, but the GTi is better. For $350 u can chip it and make it an MS3 but still have a better interior and overall quality. GTI is 1st on my list, but the MS3 comes 2nd.
i got the '09 MS3, i don't really like the new styling all that much but the inners of the '10 are supposedly much better, o well... i'm modding it anyway haha and got a good deal. GTI is nice too, but i think i heard it had it's own problems like every car and i see GTI's everywhere, atleast MS3 was rare in my area. You can get the GTi with a solid seat pattern, and not just in leather, you can get solid cloth seats as well. But what's the ppoint? It just isn't a GTi without the plaid seats :P
you must get a 60k or more manufacture warranty bumper to bumper at no cost, if you're planing to buy this cars, turbo is not well done YET. if those bast.......rs at vw say this car is good they won't say no to give you that minimum warranty. Don't be fool by them.
The MK5 is much nicer, the rear lights of the MK6 is like a Touareg !!! I have to admit that the interior is nicer than the MK5, but I won't trade mine for an MK6 ... have to wait for the MK7 perhaps.

1. This is a 2010 VW GTI... They will start to sell this fall.. 2. The current and latest MKV GTI, with the TSI 2.0T, does 0-62mph in the low 6s.. I own a 2009 and can vouche for this car it is fast.. I heard that the other 2.0ts(FSI,TFSI) were not as good but I can't say for sure.. although it is listed at 200bhp it produces 190hp to the wheels and anyone who knows anything about cars knows that doesn't add up.. it is like closer to 210bhp already and with some tweaking can easily be high 5s

GTI's are getting slower! The '337' GTI hit 60 in 5.9 seconds. The 24V VR6 GTI hit 60 in 6.5 seconds. The Mk6 GTI was listed as hitting 60 in 7.0 secs. 5's... no way.

0-60 in 5?! This guy is a fucking dumb shit! I just test drove it today. I will say that it is a "very quick" car, but it just feels so God damn light, which is kind of scary. I felt as though if I were to drive aggressively I would end up eating shit. I drove the CC as well...VERY floaty suspension..and the clutch in both cars is weird...
0-60 in the high 5-sec range is very plausible. I have a 2008 GTI w/ 6 sp manual, and it feels nearly as quick as my '06 WRX which had over 300 hp at the flywheel. My WRX was in the high 4-sec, 0-60 range, so the current GTI is easily in the low 6s...no doubt about it. He was dead-on about VW being conservative in it's hp and performance specs. Subaru is the same as well. My "230 hp" 2006 WRX TR dyno'd at >250 hp. These are verifiable facts proven by repeated dynos.
That's all good and well. The fact remains that on their own website, you are provided with a 0-60 time of 7.3 seconds. Why would VW lie about a 0-60 time AS BEING HIGHER THAN IT REALLY IS? Are they wrong? I had a 2000 Jetta GLX, which I loved mind you so I am a tremendous fan of VW. I drove the 08 Jetta and I thought that sucked as well. I'm sorry though. As to the GTI you are wrong. To address your question, why would VW underrate their hp, torque, and performance figures...for insurance reasons - just as muscle cars in the 60s and 70s were spec'd low to lower insurance costs for the buyer. Don't be so sure of yourself, when it's obvious you don't know what you're talking about. Ferrari and Mercedes consistently low-ball their performance specs, just as VW does. VW is not "lying"...they are simply being conservative & doing the buyer a favor by keeping insur. costs down.

I like everything but the grill because it is just so dang tiny. I loved the front of the MkV because of its simplicity. And I'll agree. It's a GTI, not a Lancer. If any car in their lineup needs a change, it's the Jetta.
I agree that the new GTI looks more "Japanese." However, I think that this new design approach is a good thing. It looks more clean and simple, yet refined and balanced.

i personally own an 'o7 MK5 GTI, and although I did have the PCV issue, it was fixed in about 30min and was free (recall). I don't have any rattles, and honestly, its one of the better made VW's. It's decently fast and handles excellently. The Civic Si handles slightly better but the VW GTI is definitely faster.
I have an '07 and I do have the dash rattle. It is annoying, but other than that the car is great. The rattle wouldn't keep me from purchasing a GTI in the future.
Hopefully the MkVI will be put together better than the MkV. VW has pretty much come out and amitted that the MkV was overengineered, without much consideration for construction practicality. This is why phrases like "The Dash Rattle", "The Window Rattle" "The PCV Fix" are commonplace on GTI MkV forums. Love the idea of these cars, but the horror stories about owning a trouble probe rattletrap with only 10,000 mile son it turn me off.
As soon as you wash it, you're already swirling the hell out of the paint. Doesn't really matter how careful you are...black paint shows every little flaw.

Wow- what they don't say is that this car will probably be spending more time in your dealer's service bay than your garage, Of the 36 major manufacturer brands sold in the US, VW is ranked 33 in reliability. So what does VW do to address this? They dropped their basic warranty from 48 to 36 months. I guess they figure why should VW fix their own mistakes, when the customer can instead!

I like everything but the grill because it is just so dang tiny. I loved the front of the MkV because of its simplicity. And I'll agree. It's a GTI, not a Lancer. If any car in their lineup needs a change, it's the Jetta.

I agree that the new GTI looks more "Japanese." However, I think that this new design approach is a good thing. It looks more clean and simple, yet refined and balanced.

Hopefully they leave the all the little Gremlins out of the MkVI.
VW has admitted that they overdesigned the MkV, without enough thought to practical construction.
I like the GTI's, but I don't quite trust VW yet.

no it does not in my oppinion. Germans would never copy Japanese design it goes the other way. I see more Japanese cars copying the german sesign like the lexus copying Mercedes.

its possible.
the mk5 0-100 time of 6.9 secs with DSG is under rated. with a good launch, it will do a 6.5
the mk6 with a little more HP and a good launch might be able to do it under 5 secs

mk5 with dsg can do about 6 secs max, but 10hp will not bring that to under 5...

i personally own an 'o7 MK5 GTI, and although I did have the PCV issue, it was fixed in about 30min and was free (recall). I don't have any rattles, and honestly, its one of the better made VW's. It's decently fast and handles excellently. The Civic Si handles slightly better but the VW GTI is definitely faster.

and you can use it for a lot more than the si. I have an 06 which is pretty much the same and I love beating dbag civic drivers.
I love the new look GTI though and adding 10 more HP will be a nice addition

I have an '07 and I do have the dash rattle. It is annoying, but other than that the car is great. The rattle wouldn't keep me from purchasing a GTI in the future.

Hopefully the MkVI will be put together better than the MkV. VW has pretty much come out and amitted that the MkV was overengineered, without much consideration for construction practicality. This is why phrases like "The Dash Rattle", "The Window Rattle" "The PCV Fix" are commonplace on GTI MkV forums. Love the idea of these cars, but the horror stories about owning a trouble probe rattletrap with only 10,000 mile son it turn me off.

I don't need GTI version. A normal Golf 6 will have 1.4 litre engine with 160 BHP which is enough and fuel consumption will be only 40 mpg and that's a petrol. Great engine!!!!111

I looked at VW's a couple of years ago. Loose interior parts including the automatic shift lever, loud road noise, poor fit on body parts, ....In other words, a major piece of crap. Next!

Wow- what they don't say is that this car will probably be spending more time in your dealer's service bay than your garage, Of the 36 major manufacturer brands sold in the US, VW is ranked 33 in reliability. So what does VW do to address this? They dropped their basic warranty from 48 to 36 months. I guess they figure why should VW fix their own mistakes, when the customer can instead!
