  • Why didn't try Musemage? I tried Photoshop, GIMP, Photoscope and Musemage.

Photoshop is slow but gives a good result.

GIMP and Photoscope are slow and show no good.

Only Musemage gives a good result and is very fast.

I am new to lightroom and wanted to find out about files. As I am working on files what and making changes, what happens to my original file? Do I need to save as another file name? I don't have the book for this software, I am doing a 30 day trial, and so far I am loving it. It is alot easier than Adobe Photoshop.

  • @lifthard2001

I just had the same problem, have you recevied any kind of help?

  • Hey Yanik

As soon as I saw this video I opened up LIghtroom to check it out. I have Lightroom 2.6 and when I opened up the drop down menu there was no option for Soften Skin. I noticed that someone else had this problem. Any suggestions?

    Thanks! Corey...

  • Hi Yanik Thanks for that tutorial. I love Lightroom! That task looked quick and relatively easy with great results. Thanks again for taking the time to share that. Much appreciated!

    Cheers! Corey...

  • Thank you I was for that ^_^

    For Lightroom 3 Beta

    click on brush.

you'll see Effect: Exposure with an up and down arrow beside it. click on the arrows. and there it is.

  • Thanks so much!! This is wonderful!

  • fuggin A right!

  • I have version 2.6 and the soften skin option does not show up in the drop down menu. Do you know why this would be?

    Thanks

  • Wonderful!! Great LR tutorial, thank you for sharing your knowledge.

  • Well done!! Thank you!!

  • nice tutorial, but effect in selective work in PS is better than effect from LR

  • Thank you for sharing this! Excellent!!!

  • wow, amazing, I was not aware of the feature in LR, wonderful tool, thanks.....

  • Just for your information: in the video you said it didn't work to select several effects at a time to combine them. I know how to do it: in the upper right corner of the effects box there is a small grey square you can shift to the right. If you do so, you can adjust all effects you wanna use. If you then shift the square back to the left, you will notice that all effects you adjusted show up with a minus or a plus. Thought that also might be helpful to know.

  • I love it!

Can you do this with photoshop cs3?

  • yeah but it's not as easy as this technique!

  • thank you very much!!!

  • just a question. i am a newbee and wanted to concentrate on portraiture and still life. as of this time, i am still quite intimidated with photoshopping, or in this case "lightrooming" skins of people to make them look better. its the tediousness that i am intimidated about. i still have a lot to learn, and 1 of the things i would like to know is if i have excellent lighting and the model was properly applied applied with make up, will it help to ease up the editing proces at least a little?

  • thanks for sharing

  • I've used LR2 for awhile and had not noticed this feature. Again, nice job of teaching.

  • Does this SOFTEN SKIN tool exist on 2.0 BETA???? Or is it only on 2.0 final release?

  • awesome, dude. thanks for posting that tip. works break.

  • I have LR 2. Why don't I have the Soften skin option?

    Help Thanks

  • Did you ever find the answer for this question? I have LR 2 as well and don't see this on my submenu.

  • This is great!

  • You can do more than one thing with the brush/retouching tools and the sliders for clarity, etc.

Just click the little "Show Effects" Button in this panel - it is gray and black - and is located in the top right corner above the sliders but below the brush.

This displays all the sliders, not the silly + - from the standard settings. Now you can customize all the sliders in exact amounts for the effect wanted.

I keep Lightroom set-up this way always.

Just try this suggestion for so much more.

  • hi, when you resize photos to make them bigger, is there a way to do this without making them blurry or to keep the pixles in place?
