@skatologyBrn I wouldn't go that far. The backing track makes it sound fake. Check out my band's new Peter Gunn video for comparison. We played it all live and it shows!
My school orchestra is playing this song, just the cellos, for our final concert, and I have the part you were playing. It so makes up for playing the sort of boring part to Imperial March.
@azoro13 well i got the backing from a CD that came with sheet music, i dont have it anymore though and i forget what its called. if you google peter gunn backing track you can probably find it
Great job young man! You remind me of when I started playing the sax when I was 11 (i'm 42 now). You're doing great! Practice, practice, practice...you know. Take a look at a video of my uncle, Jim Aldridge playing the same song in a band about 50 years ago He was my inspiration to play the sax and perform..listen to his version, try to learn some of his techniques in it, growling, trilling, double tounging, embouchure manipulation and...practice ALOT. Stay positive and good luck in all you do!
yeah i'm working on growling and i'm starting to get good at it now, but this video is from awhile ago when i didn't even know what growling was. thanks for the advice
Hey, it's steve from the band, We were wondering that if we did Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen if you could the solo, if you don't want to it's ok, but it'd be a cool touch.
You sound great Mike! That is a very difficult song. I've got it too in my Mancini album. Especially those loooong notes at the beginning of the song are difficult because they take a lot of breath!!!
Well, you don't seem to have a problem there.
Keep it up man, I am looking forward to your next video!!!!!
WHOOO RAMONES SHIRT AND PETER GUNN WHAT COULD GET BETTER! WAIT ADD BACON!

The Jazz Version of Peter gunn. And its sounds good.
MarcelHall21 2 years ago
ah but as i read in other comments you are just 15 years old?!
so for your age it really is not bad.
but you can try playing it a bit dirtier and try growling
if you want to know how to do growling you can write me a pm or search for it.
it will take a long time for you to learn it.
it took me 2 weeks dayly training.

man feel the music
you really need to feel it.
sorry to say it but it doesn't sound really good
try become a dirty sound.
i know that it's better with a tenor sax because i play tenor and i love this song.
but like this it sound's like a 8 year old kid olaying the second year on a sax.
and if you can
try growling.
and i will sound much better.
Phile220491 2 years ago
On a Alto Sax? I find it better on the Tenor.
AintYoHood 2 years ago
yeah, i like it better on tenor too, but i don't own a tenor sax so i gotta work with what i have
mike20731 2 years ago
I think you do not feel it. Feel the music.
