  • I've got a P40DC. Mine's has an extra window at the back. Dont tell me what it's for because I know already.

and also I'm gonna put in a 710 sound system into mines, so it sounds like EMD just repowered it.

  • They actually have 6 heritage units (5 P42/P40's and 1 F40PH Cab-Baggage). 2 are in phase 3, plus the Phase 3 Cab-Baggage Former F40PH.

  • At 7:20, yes that is a radio antenna.

  • Athearn is coming out with 2 Phase 5 P42s. Number 1 and 67. They are coming in early January.

By the way, Happy New Year!

  • @psvtrains Walthers distributes the phase 5. Athearn makes them, but does not sell them. If you want to buy these engines go to walthers.com,

  • @ExtraLt1 Well, Yes. It has Athearn on the Box, and says athearn on the bottom of the loco. I just like to consider them "Athearn Trains", but whatever... you can get them for a cheaper price (same locomotive number) if you search on google.

  • You should use these to pull the Zephyr. The 1st Engine will be the F3s, and then the Amtraks.

  • Cesar Vergara designed those locomotives he said the brutish look came from a need to have the locomotives get through the tunnels on the northeast corridor and to provide more crew protection. Amtrak sold some of those units to some communter RRs, not many. The good news is the stimulas money Amtrak got allowed 15 of the P40s to be upgraded to P42 standards and be placed back into service. If you come upto Canada you will see them and F40s. Both units are on the same train on my past video.

  • At 5:49 I see the number 119. I have shot the real life engine 119 many times over the years on Amtrak's Coast Starlight train and I even shot video of it when it was in this red white & blue paint sheme in year 2002 prior to it being painted into the pahse 5 paint. I also shot it after it was repainted. I have tons of vids of that real life engine 119 on my youtube account. These models have amazing detail!

  • Nice!
