So far it's 2 months past the "initial launch" and nothing happened. Well at least they got about $370 from it. What bothers me is that Empire Arcadia, a very trusting and pioneering group of pro gamers where a part of it. Either they were tricked or in on the scam.
lol, this thing appears to be in shambles already (surprise...). Not one scrap of news or info on the site has been updated since the day it launched. The forums have a whopping 25 total posts from about 10 people who somehow got tricked into paying 10 bucks just to post in a completely dead forum, haha. Half of the posts are already complaints about how nothing is going on with wwfog. Either these guys have no idea what they are doing, or they just launched the site WAY too early. Or both.
This is a great idea....but I think that, after so many years of there being free gaming/records resources, I can't imagine too many players "buying into this," literally.
If it COULD be run like the NFL, wouldn't the costs and prize money be covered by fans who either came to events or logged in to watch like a "PPV?"
I think the Gamers Championship Series, which Scot Rubin had ended AGI to help with, was very similar to this...but never really got going. We'll see what happens here...
To emphasize: It would be VERY cool to see this work....to have another competitive gaming body out there could only be beneficial to players. Perhaps the random element of competitions might be the thing other organizations missed. This way it doesn't just become a "Halo league" or a "GTA" league....
she should be called "Hailey Hot", because if she was bright...she would have called this douche-bag out on his obvious money grubbing venture. Music industry guy+gaming league=crap
at least the 10 dollar fee to post anything on their forums will stop them from the inevitable round the clock moderation they would have needed to keep deleting all the posts insulting this dude and his half baked idea
lol at each of my comments with exactly -1, wonder who that was *coughtoddrogerscough*
It's finally official...website and concept are garbage. Nice little gems like this:
"Gamers and gaming supporters can sign up for membership with WWFOG for $10 per year. Membership will provide gamers with input privileges on how the organization is formed via access to the forums."
Oooh, I get to pay 10 bucks to share my opinion on your forums?? Lucky me!
I agreet. You want a good business man backing a business venture, not a gamer. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like this guy is either one. They launch a big venture like this- and the website doesn't even come up when searching for the exact name of the company?? Ridiculous. Next they charge 10 bucks for the ability to post on their forums and act like you're getting to steer the direction of the company for that, lol. I don't see very many good business decisions being made so far
So what? i hate people who say exactly what you said. Whats your point? Nobody does anything for free and dont think for one second that your favorite gaming organizations are doing it for the love. They all try to make money off of you.
As long as this guy does it legit and comes hrough with what he promises, it will greatly further professional gaming. I have ben waiting years for someone to do something just like this.
He could be trying to cash in, but so is everyone else. Get use to it.
lol, todd rogers comment marked as spam and then he deletes. Then I get a mail from a random wwog lackey trying to chastise me for criticizing it even though all I did was report what I heard on a podcast. Same guy? Either way, pure comedy. I was trying not to bash, but if the people involved are this insecure about their big venture, that doesn't reflect well.
*Cue the "you don't know what you're talking about!", "you're not a real gamer!" spam...*
I think that we all need to sit back and wait for the launching of the Worldwide Federation of Gaming, this guy is the real deal we met at E3 and he already has several luminaries of Empire Arcadia & Fatality in his camp of recognized champion caliber gamers. The theory behind ""For Gamers By Gamers"" is exactly what it means, the gaming population will decide which games are to be played tested and competed on.
Isn't this what we are all looking for is an outlet to show case our abilities as gamers. Did you ever sit at home and wish to make a career out of getting paid for gaming, well Michael is offering the public just that chance to get paid for what we do and that's play video games.
So i think the proof will be in the pudding so to speak, let the League talk volumes for it self when its established and then strike while the iron is hot and jump on board to be a part of a gaming team to compete against the best and earn a name for yourself as you've always wanted to.I just wanted to set the record straight about that and to also say that Michael is a visionary that will make things stand on end in the up coming months in the gaming community.
To be clear, I wasn't trying to judge whether or not the league will be good, I just realized that was the guy they were talking about, and was commenting on what I heard. Although I will say it's strange that it's supposed to be lauching soon, and there's still no website. Nice ad though lol
they were talking about (read baggin on) this guy/idea on dj Wheat the other day, I think when combofiend/valle were on. They seemed to think this guy was just talking out his ass about empire arcadia acutally being signed, although they did say the guy was talking to Justin wong at the gamestop tournament.
I'm interested to see where this league goes. The last couple of months I have been complaining that there is no real competitive league that runs for the gamers. WCG runs for each different country and MLG runs to rake in a ton of cash. I would be interested to see how the league starts off with and I would love to see a TV network pick up a day's worth of gaming content every tournament. Hopefully, he would be willing to come on Coin-Op sometime!

....and the last game the CEO played was Pong....
What I see is a stuffed suit with dollar signs in his eyes wondering how to best cash in on the $8 Billion a year gaming industry.

Does it really matter? If he can make this happen, does it matter if he's a hardcore gamer or not?

Has anyone ever watched Metalocalypse on adult swim? Pretend I'm the main guy in the tribunal.
*clears throat*
Another gaming league? After the failure of the CGS, I am most doubtful. Let's wait and see how this one turns out.
