  • is it just me or is there no zooming on this video?

  • shouldnt it be deshook?...

  • hy im from croatia :D

  • what's deshaked means ?

  • A video has been deshaked when the shaking has been removed by using a software. In this case I used Deshaker, a plugin for VirtualDub.

This is not a feature of the TZ5 and can be done with any video.

    I hope that helps.

  • Deshaking is pretty cool business!

  • Could you tell me how to get HD from TZ5 to work in virtual dub ive been tearing my hair out but just cant get it

  • First tool you need is MP4Cam2AVI. Just ask google and download the file from sourceforge.

MP4Cam2AVI quickly converts the container from Quicktime-MOV to AVI without the loss of quality. The video itself stays untouched.

Now you can load this AVI into VirtualDub.

  • what are these black things?

  • Black borders that come from deshaking the clip in post processing.

  • cool :)

  • i have a question this file is MOV. or ? and i have a limix dmc-fx37 and how or with what for a software i can upload it in a very good HD

  • I think I converted the MOV to a H.264 MP4 file because the MOVs are just way too big to upload.

I used MEGUI to convert but that wasn't a easy task...

  • continue....

    4) I heard that you can utilize the whole memory card while using the video but you are saying its only limited to 8minutes ???

Are the limitation for HD video or AVHD videos..

    Plz reply ASAP...

  • 4) One single clip can be no longer than about 8 minutes. But you can take as many clips as you want (or fit onto the card).

The TZ5 isn't capable of taking videos in AVCHD.

  • Hi Bro, it was very kind of you to upload the video.

I have some queries if you can help me.

    1) What is the current format of the video was ot HD or AVCHD (the new feature format).

    2) How much is the diffrence between HD & AVCHD quality.

    3) How much GB memory card should I buy to store atleast 1hr of AVCHD or HD recording respectively with 100 3mp snaps.

  • 1) The TZ5 can only record into a container called MOV. Inside this container it records a video format called MJPEG or Motion-JPEG. HD just means that the video has a higher resolution than 640x480. In this case it's 1280x720.

The TZ7 is capable of taking videos in AVCHD which happens to be just another compression type which is more efficent. But it's still 1280x720 pixels and editing later seems to be not so easy...

  • 2) You should check the meaning of these abbreviations and reask.

  • Get a 16GB SDHC card.

  • Q: great video! Does the camera allow you to adjust scene settings in video mode? I plan to take underwater HDV w/ the TZ5 and would like to know whether the underwater scene mode can be accessed in video to compensate for the low light conditions.

A: No, the scene modes cannot be used in video mode. But the whitebalance can be adjusted.

  • Does it work with Class 4 SDHC ?

  • For HD video you should use a Class 6 card. For taking pictures Class 4 is ok.

  • CHECK THIS IN HD:

    watch?v=2VJDdGt01Aw&feature=ch annel_page&fmt=22

  • Wow, that's cool! Works with my video as well!

    watch?v=AhoYbq2UCnc&&feature=channel_page&fmt=22

    How did you discovered that?

BTW: Your clip needs a deshaking! :o)

  • 1:26

What's his problem? He could at least smile...he must be evil.

  • Owesome video!!! How is the quality of the videos taken by this cam on say a 32-inch LCD TV??

  • Thank you. The TZ5 shots true 720p (1280x720 pixels) video. You can't judge the quality from the video you can see here at youtube because it is heavily compressed, even at "high quality".

I think it will look great on you're flatscreen as long as you're using a HDMI-/DVI- or VGA-cable.... to play it from a PC! Burning to DVD and playing it via a DVD-Player reduces the resolution and quality!

  • I have a PC on my HDTV, if i play a video on my TV., is it still HD?

  • Depends on how it's connected...

  • Also, how long does the battery last while shooting HDV? How many hours of HDV can the 8GB Transcend card hold? How long does it take to upload the HDV onto a computer?

    Thanks!

  • Q: Also, how long does the battery last while shooting HDV? How many hours of HDV can the 8GB Transcend card hold? How long does it take to upload the HDV onto a computer?

A: A 8GB card should last for 40 minutes of HD video. But a single clip is limited to about 8 minutes...

Can't tell you exact details about how long the battery lasts, but I never ran out of battery during a day.

  • Hi, I think of buying this camera. But one important thing I should know before I will buy it: Is there an autofocus while recording a video? If you move an object closer to the camera, does the camera focus on this new situation? Or does it get blurred? This is a very important aspect for me, so please answer me...thanks in advance

A: Yes the autofocus works while recording video as well as the zoom does!!!

  • Wow this is impressing, both cam and vid... I'm definetly buying this.

Have you ever encountered problems with 16/32GB SDHC cards? Because I've read in many places that those cards die in few weeks of use, many people have been complaining about loosing their pictures.

  • I can't say anything about 16/32GB cards. I use a 8GB Transcend card. Sorry.

  • Yes. It works on all HCSD. I'm using 32GB.

  • Great video! I'm looking forward to getting one of these cameras... I'm also interested in the HD availability in this video. How'd you encode it so well?

  • Do you think this is well encoded? I don't like the high compression youtube is applying even to the "high quality" version of the video.

I user MP4cam2avi to convert it from mov to avi. Then I do the deshaking via VirtualDub and save to an uncompressed AVI. After that I user MEGUI to encode to an iTunes compatible h.264-file.

  • That Deshaker software does a bang up job correcting your crappy camera skills, that's for sure.

  • crappy? I'd like to see YOU holding a small p&s-camera at 10x on a shaking boat!

  • i'm just playin', brother. I think I would be so bad that the Deshaker program would tell me to eff off.

  • :o)

  • sorry. rated before i read on.

  • why is the outer screen wobbling all over the place dude?? its making me feel sea sick

  • This video has been stabilized using DeShaker for VirtualDub.

The original would have made you even more sick, because the subject was wobbling instead of just the border.

DeShaker can remove the border by cropping the frame but I like it this way because one can see how effective DeShaker is... :o)

  • Should have cropped it.

  • Does the DeShaker for VirtualDub a programme which comes with the camera?

  • Q: Does the DeShaker for VirtualDub a programme which comes with the camera?

A: No. It can be downloaded for free.

  • Deshaker ftw!

Great Video, I'm gonna buy this camera tomorrow :D

  • But keep in mind that Xygen75 is probably using third party software to "deshake" it. If that is true, then the cam has nothing to do with the stable picture.

  • Yeah I understand where you're going, I was just saying that I was going to buy the camera, and my choice was not solely based on the stability of the camera.

    And the software is 'Deshaker'

  • I hear you. So did you buy a TZ5? I was about to buy one then I found out about the audio problem it has. It seems like the perfect still/video combo if not for the audio. I still might get one though.

  • Yeah I bought it, nothing wrong with the audio. But the microphone is very close to where you would place your left index finger, so you have to be careful not to cover it up.
