@stridexr no enough! You are misinterpreting my comments. Just let the video happen and we will see. I am sick of coming up with the same points that if you weren't so stupid you would be able to understand them.
Fun aside, you need to do some research, and get your facts straight. If you wish to learn, I can point you in the right direction. Programs like iAlertu provide some security in the sense that they may annoy the perp into leaving your machine alone, but ultimately, this is noob security, I say this because there is only so much you can do to ensure your box is not physically stolen, what you need to be looking into is what you can do to increase the chances of recovering your box in this event
@stridexr This is the last time I am saying this I spoke about more than just iAlertu so quit referring to it. You are the one who needs to do some research. Prey is a program meant to track your laptop. You use it WHEN it has been stolen to track where it is. This also means by the time someone reformats your computer you would have already tracked where your laptop is. iAlertu is just to prevent it from happening in the first place and if you payed attention it is not meant for anything else.
@diablo9333 Kid, you're an idiot. "just iAlertu so quit referring to it." I referred to it once in the past 6 comments? "This also means by the time someone reformats " I thought you said there was no possible way they could format it? "you would have already tracked where your laptop is" Not unless they mask their IP(or dnt go online), in which case, youre fucked. "and if you payed attention it is not meant for anything else. " Have you been reading my comments? that's exactly what I said...
@stridexr why are u so angry...... be nice. geez. its a curtosy video. just enjoy it...he didn't do it on purpose to annoy ur highness. geez.......weird thing is ur probably an adult.....creep.
@stridexr actually.... you can't even shut it down, let alone format it. On top of that I spoke about more than just ialertu so it wouldn't be a waste of time.
@diablo9333 Damn. I was pretty sure pulling out the battery would shut it down, then you could boot from CD and format, meaning everything you stated would be a waste of time. I guess I'm just not as pro as you...
@stridexr there is the possibility of pulling out the battery, however on most macbooks it is not possible. Ones from late 2008(I believe) past are integrated and therefore cannot be removed. Older ones like mine can though. Also why are you so concerned with proving me wrong? First of all ialertu is a free program and not aimed specifically for macbooks but all macs for unwanted access and second I speak of more ways to improve theft protection. Also ialertu is mac only.
@diablo9333 Why are you so upset that someone is correcting you? I'm merely pointing out the gaping flaws in several of your statements, "I speak of more ways to improve theft protection" - no you don't, you apparently speak of Tips For the Ultimate laptop theft protection, false advertising?
@stridexr Im upset at the fact that I speak of more ways when you basically say within your comments that I speak of one. For example "....in which case your 5 minute video is a waste of time". In today's world it is "Ultimate" because those are the only possible ways to protect your laptop from being stolen. I do apologize that I have no software for windows similar to ialertu but the first software I spoke about tracks where the macbook is so you can track when it is stolen.
@diablo9333 "I do apologize that I have no software for windows similar to ialertu" blech..Windows...
"In today's world it is "Ultimate" because those are the only possible ways to protect your laptop from being stolen." No they aren't, there are much better ways to do so.
"because lots of people don't even know about these types of software and tools that you can use." Nice, diplomatic answer - I like this.
@stridexr It is also "ultimate" because lots of people don't even know about these types of software and tools that you can use. Why do you have to troll?
Good question. I am on a mac so I wouldn't know. It is there but it doesn't show it running. I am running it right now and it shows no sign of the programs running. On windows I don't know. I suppose on windows it goes in program files and just secretly runs in the background. On a mac I would assume it goes in the applications folder and does the same.
@diablo9333 I was trying to give you some pointers and you haven't said anything constructive. 80% of your information is wrong.
