This would be a close race, what with the WRX weighing ~750lb less. Personally, I'd take the 3000GT VR-4 over the WRX no matter what, the Mitsu GTO has style and class, the WRX is and always has been an unattractive, to say the least, car. The engineering may be solid, well, except for the head gasket issues Subaru's had with the 2.5L Phase I and Phase II motors, but, there aren't a lot of people willing to sacrifice style for a reasonably powerful engine...I know I wouldn't

I've owned a na 3000gt since 97. I've raced my friends wrx and beat him many times. You have to understand that most of the older 3000gt's out there have lost alot of compression and horsepower due to old age and lack of maintenance. Go race an old early 80's lamborghini with a FOCUS svt and see who wins.

the wrx let him jump him when the awd should take the line and then a wrx can hold off a vr4 for about 2 to 3 car length win.

@Overst33r evo comes close? evo x is heavier with less power, yet posts higher skidpad G's and runs motortrends figure 8 quicker even though the sti is quicker in a straight line. Top Gear, the most respected car review show on earth, always would take the evo for the track, then want the sti for the ride home. sti's are known for understeering for a reason

I have both cars- and they're both AWD so dig would be a standstill, if not the VR4 would have a little more kick to it and as far as car lenghts it's the other way around. The only advantage a WRX has really is its weight.

the VR4 is dirty, if you were a licensed driver when it was in production you would know what i'm talking about. I have a vr4, im not a kid, and i know a fair amount about proper boosting. Also, i agree with you because the 350z is a great car, i got a buddy with a twin turbo one and another with an even bigger turbo'd G35. anyone who knows the 350Z knows that the G35 has the same engine. Great engine, not so great transmission though.

350z is a good car, far from great or legendary tho. the 4g63 engine is legendary and for good reason. the vr4 is a vastly underrated car. if someone offered me a 350z, but it comes with its fair share of problems and can't match a cast iron block 6g or 4g.

I agree the VR4 can be built to eat a lot of cars alive, but as far as the evo and the sti go the stock to stock is the the sti is faster meaning it has a higher top speed a more comfortable ride and a useful 6th gear, the EVO has harder suspension, more aero dynamic additions and a better gearing for racing, but by the end of a strip usually the EVO stock to stock depending on drivers, the VR4 runs what like a 13.4 with a good driver bone stock... all the cars are great but 350 u got issues...

I love when people call out the weight of the 3KGT because as far as performance goes thats the only thing you CAN say. the VR4 had a terrible driver, when my VR4 was still stock (i have a 1993) I would be dead even with STi's. A WRX with under 300hp at the crank was an easy win for me.
