rom? do you mean the app?because all you have to do is go to dsi shop and select free category,then choose flip book studio.

no one will update because half the people in the world probably have a homebrew card

all flash cards with up-gradable firmware(aka acekard 2i)have bin patched to work with this version.

is it true if you update it your acekard r4 or m5 wont work any more

r4 & m5 im not sure.i think acekard2i & EZVi are the only one's that works until now after the update.check on your carts developer page they should tell you if theirs a fix.
