Diabetes is very common, and it's a chronic disease, meaning it lasts lifetime, there's no actual cure for it, once you get it you get it, you just have to control your blood sugar and take care for yourself.

i get what you are saying that at least he can get good treatment. my bf found out only in july this year at age 19, id been with him over 3 years; and instead of celebrating our 3 and a half year; at home we were in the ER when i realized what was goin on.. 686 and DKA and it can seriously go bad if it falls to low or goes to high and can do damage .. so yes it is controllable and hes great with A1C of 12.3 at diagnosis to 5.5 since. but you're wrong that it isnt serious, it is.

ugh your stupid. 12.3 a1c is really bad, and 5.5 is too low. mine was 8.4 a few months ago and thats too high, just so you know 7 is what to aim for. theres no damage for having too high or too low if you treat it in time. the only people who lose limbs etc are people who didnt now they were diabetic and stayed at a high blood sugar for years. its not THAT serious, you can still live a perfectly normal live with it.
