Brandi's singing is simply beyond compare, we know ...and this song so beautifully arranged and full of wonderful lyrics. But that one line went right to my soul "I'm not too proud to beg for your attention and your friendship and your time, so you can come and get it from now on." It is a phrase I have shared with only a few special people, people I can trust to know the depth of feeling involved in that phrase, the willingness to be open to them, "not too proud"....it is a powerful phrase.
@gurlsingerfan the lyric is actually "I'm too proud to beg" that's why it ends with "so you can come and get it from now on" but it's an easy mistake to make
@meow580 various lyric sheets on the web seem to agree with you. Perhaps I was most moved and pleased with the way I heard it the first time. I am still happy with my mis-reading, maybe its a Freudian thing...instead of accidently saying what I wanted to say, I accidently heard what I wanted to hear. :-) That left me with the last part of the line, "you can come and get it from now on" meaning that my attention, friendship and time are a given, always to be had by my trusted friend. :-)
