  • Intentional? Yes, for excessive contact. Flagrant? No. Remember, flagrant under high school rules means you're throwing someone out. I don't feel the defender was trying to injure the offensive player but she definitely used more force than necessary to stop her.

  • It was a hard foul. No doubt about it. Flagrant.... She did make a play for the ball. People forget basketball is quite a physical sport. I've played in games that were VERY physical. Can't blame everything on the referee.

  • I didn't think women could foul hard enough to get called for a flagrant.

  • Just another 'tough guy" who likes to try and prove something, making up for mommy and daddy not hugging him, or telling him they love him, and how special he is. Piece of S&$T Kid probably feels like the man walking through the halls of his little school. You can tell, after foul 5 he's trying not to smirk when he's standing on the block. Fact of it kid, when you graduate this year, you will be in the big world. You will be the guy at the reunion still living in the glory days. You are garbage.

  • ok stop with the kitchen jokes seriously! there laundry to be done.

  • thats pussy shit she was going to miss it anyway

  • not that hard of a foul... NO EASY BUCKETS

  • @memphistigers777 who the efff are you... the 89 detroit pistons?

  • All 6 people at the women's basketball game look really upset at the call

  • I stopped watching this when I found out it was girls. Get back in the kitchen

  • Ya I agree with the ref. One te I was dribbling down for a lay up and the girl checked me. No foul. So no foul on me I did it back no foul. If she's all right who cares she isnt hurt and no it wasn't a intentional I have had way way way worse hits. Like the ref said if you don't want your kid hurt don't put the child in sports my this 1 girl on my team gets her hand stepped on 35 seconds in the game she has the whole game stopped not toentipn she's sobbing my fingers got stepped on wah! Well we

  • I play basketball and that is not intentional I do that sometimes accidentally but it's just a regular foul dummy

  • @girlwhocancheck and your just a reg dummy... dummy!

  • final word. we dont question you at your job...

its not like i walk to your office and tell you that you suck at paper work...or suck at fixing cars etc.

plus if you went out there and referee'd youd be biased and wouldnt know what the heck to do. it pays well...if you feel your better...prove it...get a side job as a ref...work weekends.

venting cause i hate whiny parents...sorry...its been an interesting year.

  • @calebyourmaster Don't be sorry! You are right!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm a referee...first year...its hard making perfect calls everytime...but this really wasnt a flagrant...The thing that made it look nasty was the girl going for the layup at full speed...it was an all body foul...not a kick or hack...the girl seemed fine afterwards...fouls like this happen all the time...

this is a case of whiny parents...i have to deal with this crap all the time...i know its their kid out there that got hurt...but if it bothers you so bad...take them out of sports.

  • looks like it was called to me...

  • the foul is that the women are on the basketball court not the kitchen

  • um that was clearly not basketball that was netball

  • lol who cares what the call is.. this is girls basketball..

  • that was not a flagrant foul her hands where up, but got her with a body

  • Ummm...flagrant technical w/ ejection. What gave it away for me was the dropkick! Unfortunately, the official couldn't possibly have seen it as the defender was on the other side of the offensive player.

  • Fuck parents. I used to play hockey when I was younger. Every time one of us got tripped or cross-checked our moms would yell "he should be outta the game!" Annoying as shit.

  • packed house

  • really, thats it. that was a good call. The coach wasnt even that mad lol. Good job by the ref.

  • Makes me so mad when I'm playing and the parents yell stuff from the stands..

  • no need to call it flagrant. it was a hard foul, nobody was hurt, and the shooter still has a chance to get her points. i love the bitching parents though.

  • I have a question why are these girls out of the kitchen

  • i agree with mark she was tryin to make a play on the ball it was a hard foul but not a flagrant one

  • sorry dude these guys are right it was a hard foul but it wasnt a flagrant she was tryin to make a plan on the ball

  • ummm whocares its little kid playing..

  • "Flagrant" what? This is a split second type of call...get into the rule book and quit calling the game from the stands...

  • dirty foul, no flagrant

  • That wasn't a flagrant. Look like the girl was in the air when her and the other player made contact, while in the air she was off balance/slightly tripped. It could've gone either way.

  • should of been a flagrant, unnecasery contact and wasn't going for the ball

  • actualy she was she put her arm up to block the ball but the shot never came up cuz of the contact it was def a hard foul but not a flagrant

  • Thats a flagrant , she didnt even try to block it

  • Hard foul. Clean foul. Quit whining

  • only in womens sports would any1 call that a flagrant.. she went for the ball..

  • is she playing football?^^

  • Girls Basketball....*Yawn*

  • she went after the ball, no flagrant or intentional

  • girls basketball.....zzzzzzzzzzz

  • dangerous play => flagrant foul (aka unsportsmanlike)

  • Even if the player was going for the ball, an intentional foul can be called for excessive contact.

  • there is no way thats a flagrant she had her hand straight up and if she wasnt moving it would have been a clean block and watch the girl throw her hip into her

  • she went for the ball, but she did hit her with the body. i think its just a hard foul but ive flagrants called for much less

  • Intentional foul. Two and the ball

  • that was flagarant

  • thats not flagrant she tried to block the shot not hit the girl

  • why is this a flagrant again? because the other girl hit the deck hard? so what. i basically just saw the defender give a little bit of a push. honestly, i think there was a lot of acting by the girl on offense. either that, or their feet got tangled up, but either way, there's no way this was a flagrant foul.

  • i dont understand

  • Did she use or hands??? Nope it was her body they ran right into eachother. Ut just looked bad not flagrant

  • not! a flagrant . u need to learn the game of basketball more.

  • If you don't think this was flagrant, then you don't know basketball. At all.

  • what a cheap shot

  • thats a good call by the ref

  • That was a good call by the Ref.

  • that wasnt flagrant he didnt hit him in the head it was a body check its not his fault the other person is a small little bitch

  • ...u used "he" and "him"...

    but arent them women?

    LOL

  • wow theyre so ugly i didnt even notice haha

  • LOL you're a joke!

This is definitely a flagrant personal foul. Ejection to the defender.

  • you obviously don't know the rules of baskeball it was body to body contact its not her fault the other person is a bitch she bodied her thats not a flagrant she wasnt aiming at the head or anything

  • Dude, I have reffed for 15 years, including state championships I also played for 20 years and coached for 8. What is your background?

You're just a stupid punk. Buzz off.

You are probably related to the person that committed the flagrant foul and are upset that people are agreeing that she should have been ejected.

  • womens basketball is pathetic i wish they would all be ejected it'd be more interesting watching the floor than watching them play and your an idiot you probably referee special olympics games

  • hahaha i laughed at that "watching the floor"

  • how the FUCK is it pathetic?? the wnba would own your ass.

  • bullshit omhahaxd.

the defender does not show any intentions to go for the ball and runs straight into the attacker.

its not a common foul, too hard.

    flagrant

  • wen i first viewed i thought it was a video game

  • Definitely a flagrant technical ! she never made an attempt to play defense on the ball. Ejection, 2 shots, take it out opposite the scorers table half court.

  • Definitely Intentional, she didn't even play the ball.

  • i have had this happen to me tons of times before in games this isnt a technical foul at most it is an intentional foul

  • Comment removed

  • Black girls thoughts, "Ohhh no she diduunt!"

  • dumb niggers

  • "If that's not a technical foul, I don't know what is"

The guy in the video who said that obviously doesn't know. Technical fouls are only for non-basketball related plays, and this was clearly a basketball related play. Gotta love the crowd idiots.

  • come on ref.

    let the boys play! l0l.

  • pwned

  • wats being african american have to do with it? well actually they are black as white people are white. not african, they are born in america so therfore are American.

  • that was all ball!

  • @Spope1678 totaly

  • Hard foul, thats all. I feel sorry for the girl who took the hit. But she showed she's all that, my hat off to her.

This is social ball, the level of talent varies alot.

Also how much does the ref get paid, or is he just donateing his time. Lets not point the finger at part time refs, without them there's no social sport.

  • that was intentional and flagrant.. Two shots and the ball.. If that was the NBA or NCAA the player would of been kicked out of the game and suspended..

  • I love idiots who say the refs lost control of the game, fuckin morons! You can call the game super tight and something like this can happen. Now for you other idiots in highschool for a ref to call a flagrant intentional foul he has to believe there was intent to injure the other player. There is no flagrant 1 and 2 in highschool. To call that an intentional foul is hard because she made a play on the ball and caught the shooter on a bad angle. No way should she have been tossed or suspended.

  • ya but its like high school basketball

  • looking at this angle it was a flagrant foul , but the angle that the ref was, he would not have seen the same angle ,that is why i would think he never called it the way we all do. Wrong call but only because he did not catch the right angle. Refs are human

  • Not intentional....

    Flagrant.... Should have been tossed!

  • no da it was intentional, wat did they think she was going to do? let her score?

  • LOL!

  • not a flagrant, its a hard foul but she went for the ball so shutup and quit whining

  • Interesting comment from the stands: "If that's not a technical, I don't know what is."

That's actually true; he doesn't know. Contact fouls on live balls are never technical. This one sure does appear to be intentional, though.

  • however:

    Fiba 34.1.4.3

"If a defensive player causes contact with an opponent from behind or laterally

in an attempt to stop a fast break and there is no opponent between the

offensive player and the opponents basket, then the contact shall be judged to

    be unsportsmanlike."

  • that rule wasnt implemented until october 2008,

its a 50/50 call, you can argue she was making an attempt at the ball, or was after the player, either way the referee had to make a judgement call

  • dirty, but not intentional or flagrant

  • soo many thing to say but first u cant say that title is right its the opinion of ref and he went for the ball

  • As ref all I can say it is a disqualifying foul, at least unsportsmanlike.

  • lol girls basketball

  • and i will also point out, the referee knows it is an intentional, because look at his position after he has signalled the bench.. he goes into reverse mechanics (either on purpose or not) but to avoid the crowd and coaches, or he is so stupid he doesnt know his mechanics... which should be closest to the camera

  • as a fellow referee, I would agree with that being an Intentional Foul (possibly flagrant, depending on how the game was played up to that point). I disagree with the statement that he was so stupid. There are certain situations were I was taught to avoid staying table side in National Federation and Women's College Mechanics (ie ejections, T up a coach) You are to avoid the conflict so that it does not escalate even more.

  • lol i'm sorry i ref here in Australia.. down here we arnt scared of coaches, and if any coach has the nerve to question any call, or blatantly abuse a referee, he should be sent. I dont know about your mechanics in US so i'm sorry if i got anythin wrong..

If a referee does feel uncomfortable around a coach, then i guess reverse mechanics (as we call it).. which i guess happens in this video hapens. to be honest i forgot bout that my fault:D..

  • WATEVA U SAY HABIBI!

  • ok first of all i'm a ref...

Yes it is an intentional foul, but if u look closely the referee is not in a position to see, where as he sees the back part of (dark) player he only sees the play for the ball. From camera point of view, u see it was an intentional foul, excessive use of body.

  • as a highschool official if this were a boys game this would in fact be an intentional foul but the truth is n a girls game she was going for the ball she just isnt athletic or coordnated enough

  • ahahahahahhaha

  • As a high school and college basketball this is clearly not a flagrant foul, but is an intential foul as the girl clearly made no intention of blocking the shot

  • shit happens... refs just need to sometimes get off there knees and stop blowing the game

  • that is a textbook flagrant foul and deserved an ejection. The defender never made a play on the ball, then used 2 hands and a leg to shove the offensive player. Easy call, they blew it. His partner could have came and got it from the backcourt, he had a great view too.

  • um, your an idiot you can clearly see she went for the ball with her right hand, and yeah she got her with the body, but if he''s reffing by himself.... DONT BITCH aBOUT, you can say you dont want to play, becuase he wont make all the correct calls, from all angles...

  • oh come on. just a hard foul. toughen up. why even post this video

  • No...this is a flagrant. She doesn't even want to go up and block the shot. She runs as hard as she can into the other player.

  • Hard contact foul which would make it Intentional not Flagrant. I think you have been watching NBA and mixing up the rules.

  • not exactly glad, but relieved to see there's not just inept refs in PR. wow.

  • well I never thought that was guna happen

    whats wrong with the ref?

  • the person going for the layup got kneed

    in the air

  • It is obvious that it is intentional. If she was ejected I would have no problem with that. 2 hands to the back is very dangerous.

  • There is no way that is a flagrant foul. It was a hard foul but not a flagrant foul. It looked worse than it really was.

  • Mark: You remind me of the tv news reporter showing the thief a video of him stealing from the Goodwill bin and then setting up shop at the flea market. He admits it was him but says he didn't do it. Same scenario here. The malicious foul is staring you in the face and you still don't get it. You'll make a good juror for someone being tried for first degree murder.

  • What are you talking about?!?!? If you call every hard foul a flagrant foul that would ruin the sport! Also the girl who got fouled should be warned for taking the ball away from the girl who commited the foul.

Let me guess you were a fan of the home team right??

  • how is that not a flagrant? the fouler didn't even try to stop and judge her strength and speed, and since the shooter jumped - hard foul x jumping = flagrant foul...

  • it was obviously dangerous play, as, lets be serious; she didnt have any intent on getting the ball. its gotta be flagrant!

  • @promonorm actually ur not suppose to let the person get a shot off. and she only bumped her. and since shes a girl she just falls that why it looked bad. Girls basketball is funny to watch

  • @markablock Uh. It's flagrant...it was unnecessary, intentional, and excessive.

  • hard to tell and plus we have the luxury of watching over and over, not a split second desicion.. and depending on the point of the game and what has been called the entire game. its really the refs decision but he's obviously an idiot bcuz he's got a ten count going and there is no back court ten count in girls basketball.

  • Intentional, not flagrant.

  • I was at the game. The correct foul was called because the defender went for the ball and once the shot was blocked, both players collided and the girl fell. The contact happened after the block.

  • You must have been at a different game.

  • It was obviously a flagrant. Just because you go for/and or block the ball doesn't mean you can knock someone into the third row just for fun.

  • you are a retard. doesnt matter if she went for the ball, she needs to control her body. runs into her @ full speed. flagrant foul, maybe even ejection. on top of that, she disrespectfully walks away instead of helping the girl out

  • Actually it completely matters if she is going for the ball. That's what distinguishes a hard foul from a flagrant foul. From what I can see it was the right call.

  • Hahaha, I'm sorry but that comment made my day. "she disrespectfully walks away instead of helping the girl out" - that part especially.

    1. It makes a HUGE difference if she goes for the ball because if the INTENT was to make a play on the ball, it's not an INTENTIONAL foul on the person, it's on the ball, thus not a flagrant.

    2. I'm not saying that I agree with how the player reacted afterwords, but since when is being respectful to the other players part of the rules? Again, not condoning.

  • no its not in the rules, but if ur gonna play the game, u should learn to respect it.

watchin it again, yea it does look like she goes for the ball BUT she needs to learn how to do it without steaming into her opponent. maybe she INTENDED to go for the ball but that doesn't mean it cannot be called a flagrant foul. too much contact, she doesnt jump for the block or reach for the strip, she just steamrolls into that chick while reaching for the ball

  • Unnecessary plus excessive contact. Thats a flagrant 2 foul, an automatic ejection and a $25,000 fine.

  • at :14, did some girl say,"SHES A F*****

  • At first I was thinking intentional foul, but upon further review, I wouldn't mind seeing a flagrant foul called here

  • yea thats a flagrant...

  • it called killling ppl

  • im a basketball referee..yep clearly unsportsmanlike

  • she flopped... and the spectators are little whiny bitches

  • you my friend, are an ignorant retard....cleary flagrant, she basically raped the girl

  • Unsportsmanlike clearly

  • I'm not positive, but i think the girl that got fouled was Ben Roethlisbergers sister, Carlee, from Findlay, OH. She was always getting fouled hard, people wanted to mess with her because of who her bro was. Plus, the guy talking to the ref sounds like a typical Findlay fan, acting all high and mighty. It was clearly a flagrant/intentional foul though.

  • shutup kevdved... the officials can clearly tell the difference between a clean, and flagrent foul. Just cuz a team is losing, doesnt mean they take it out on the other team. do you know anything about Basketball

  • It's easy to hate on the officials. The fact is the people yelling from the stands don't have any training or the angels to make the call. But they seem to think they make every call right and bitch about how poor the officiating is. If you think it's so damn bad and you make every call right go join your local association and help out. If not please just shut the fuck up

  • true dat

  • I wouldnt have even called a foul it completely clean.

  • now way that wasn't flagrant

  • Clearly Flagrant. Duh. I woulda called it.

  • The only thing the ref did wrong was not calling a tech foul on the dick head yelling out.

Im a referee and i doubt youd fing many refs that waould call that an intentional foul

  • Lrn 2 spll?

  • OMG!

    And those are girls!

I hope I never get hit like that!

  • take it like a man haha

  • owned

  • Flagrant.

  • You never, ever, shove someone down like that. Flagrant foul and should be ejected. If you want to foul hard, fine, GRAB her so she doesn't rise and fall on her damn head.

    Bad call by the referee.

  • She played the ball that's why it's not intentional...good call on the foul just let it go. Fans trying to control the game here and the ref keeps good control

  • It is not a flagrant foul. By definition per NFHS rules, a flagrant foul is an act of fighting and is automatic ejection with one game suspension.

It is an excessive contact foul (mechanic is intentional foul) penalty: 2 shots and possession where the foul happened.

While the official is out of position, he should still see the result of contact is excessive. Perhaps he is less experienced than most officials so let's hope a fellow official talked to him and he learned for the next time.

  • yes but the player was making no attempt to try to stop the ball. It was a cheap shot and should be 2 shots plus possesion.

  • Exactly.

    DCInternatonal= low IQ

  • lukeder and immortal you two have the low IQ!

Read DC post again. He says it is an excessive contact foul which is actually an intentional foul. 2 shots plus possession. He was agreeing with you!

Read the whole post instead of the first sentence!

  • was a flagrent there doesnt matter if shes playing the ball, persons on a drive cant hit em in the back.

  • oh Jesus! lmao, that was hilarious

but yeah, thats definitly a Flagrant, because there was absolutely no play at the ball there.

  • "o jesus!" lol

  • It was a flagrant foul. The defender "made" a play on the ball but she also put here knee out which made the girl go flying.

  • play on the ball? glasses. they are called glasses. they help you see better! she just ran into the girl - no play for a block or the ball, Mr. Charles!

  • this is not a flagrant foul because the defensive player did make a play on the ball. The guy in the stands that is yelling is right, its an intentional foul, due to excessive contact. As far as the official's rotation goes after the call was made, they are in 2-person crew, and the calling official can either go table side or opposite table on foul calls depending on local or state policies. He did what he needed to do after he screwed up the call tho-he stayed away from the coach.

  • no play on the ball! been playing since I was 8 and am 40. this was not a play on the ball!

  • This is clearly a lower level game with lazy, tired or inexperienced officials (they may be working their 5th, 6th, 7th... game of the day). But that is not an excuse. The official who makes the call is out of position. If you watch it again and think about his angle, he probably only sees the defenders back and the offensive player flailing to the ground. If he would have been prepared for the steal and booked it down the court he could have had a better angle to make the flagrant call.

  • the foul wasnt missed.. it was just called as a personal foul instead of an unsportsmenlike foul.

probably the wrong call but the foul was called

  • wow r u kidding me

  • Yes a bootleg video of the WNBA finals!!!!!

  • hahhahahhhahahhahahaha
