is tales of abyss better than tales of destiny 2? I played tales of destiny 2 with my younger brother when we were about 9/ and 12 and again at 14/ 17 and it was very enjoyable both times since it was epic, and had the most original storyline (whats cooler than defeating God with will and switching time periods to change the present and future??) and Im wondering if newer tales of destiny series are equal if not better than ToD 2

I also believe it's Luke and Asch who merged with Lorelei. I mean, yeah his hair is long, BUT, remember why the gang went there in the first place? The coming of age ceremony, which is when a baticul noble turns 20, and Luke was 17, so it had to be a time skip of three years. The guy is left-handed like Luke, but we don't know for sure. :) *replayed the whole game again lol*

Personally, I think the person stading in front of Tear and evryone in that bed of flowers that night by hod, was both Luke and Asch. They both lived with lorelei when they descended into the core. I think they merged with Lorelei.

No one knows for sure.

The one coming back is left handed just like Luke (Luke is the mirror image of Asch). But the hair of the one coming back is long. I believe it's a mix of both of them. Asch's hand moved when he came in contact with Luke in the final scene, when he was suposed dead.

So I think Luke is in Asch's body.

It might explain the long hair, and why he talked to Tear about the promise of coming back as though he was Luke.

But really, we can't be 100% sure.

@preseassin The anime's great! I think it sticks to the story and feeling of the game faithfully, which is an incredible achievement, given how amazing the game is! Certain parts are more emotional in the game, but just as often it's the other way around. Overall, the music in the game is better, but the music in the anime is great too. I think they've done the anime cutscenes better in the actual anime too. The game and the anime complement each other perfectly!

Not Martel. Yulia. The only real thing the games have in common is the Artes/Techs/Eres and the voice actors, since Van's is also Will's, from Tales of Legendia.

Right on two counts, wrong on another. It is Yulia in the beginning and the techs are all Tales staples (although Luke had some new ones like Fang Blade/Sougazan). However, Van's VA was actually Michael McConnohie. Cam Clarke, the guy who voiced Will, is also Kratos's VA but he didn't voice Van.

I never thought of it, but it somewhat makes sense, the Luke Asch hybrid only mentioned making a promise to SOMEONE, not specifically Tear, possibly meaning that he somewhat but doesn't have his memories?

I think they just didnt make him specify who it was to make the ending vague, as to whether it was Luke or Asch who came back. Because each made a promise, Luke to Tear and Asch to Natalia. Also, if he lost his memory, I dont think he would know the significance of going to Tataroo valley where they would be most likely to meet. Just my opinion though.

It is still Symphonia 2, I already explained the logic of calling it the second Symphonia game. And if you think "Knights of Ratatosk" is going to stick in NA you don't know anything about localization. The fact remains the tentative title was "Tales of Symphonia 2" it is the second Symphonia game, and when it comes to localization it will be called Tales of Symphonia 2 with no sub-title.

Each tales game is free standing, so you can go buy Tales of the Abyss. I suggest you do it's fun, though confusing at some points.

Almost half the games are connected to one another.

Aselian Timeline: Phantasia, Symphonia, Symphonia 2, ToP - Narikari Dungeon, ToW: Summoner Lineage.

Then there is Destiny and Destiny 2, also phantasia was connected to one other main tales game which I forgot. 7 out 16 games are connected. That's over 40%

there is no "Symphonia 2" it is Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatosk it is NOT Tales of Symphonia 2

and yes a fair number of them are connected but not directly you can play any of them without playing a different one first

It's still the second Symphonia game, and before it got an official title it had the tentative title as "Tales of Symphonia 2". Since it had recieved that title originally and it is the second game with the symphonia title I am allowed to call it Symphonia 2.

You can play any sequal without playing the predecessors, Hack and Xenosaga games do not require you to play the earlier parts/games.
