Bill Evans was the most influential pianist in the history of jazz music.EVERYONE after Bill Evans was influenced by this man. This is not an opinion. It's an absolute fact.
@JazzVideoGuy Sure, I mean Keepnews' opinions on Bill Evans. In some parts it seems he's about to say something interesting and then it's edited. Great Video anyway, and thanks for sharing it.
@daves9377 OIC. He's a man who sometimes goes in different directions when he's talking, like a solo that's improvised, so I had to try and edit his clips in a way that would make sense and have some continuity.
You delete any comments that do not help you make money old man. You are not man enough to admit that this listing on youtube is nothing more than a tease commercial to help you sell product. You make up so much now that Bill is dead - and you present yourself as "the" authority. We know that you write in comments about yourself just to stroke your ego and again, trying to make sales. Bill Evans had the talent, NOT YOU. Don't forget that. I dare you to let this listing stand here.

wow so fascinating so many pieces of the puzzle . The depth of Bill's introversion and true humility. The insights into the Lafaro / Evans partnership very cool .
Yes it is. Unfortunately the riverside releases were remastered for general purchase in 16 bit and while they sound good maybe not quite as good as 24 bit. Some Riverside albums are available remastered as 20 and 24 bit but at a higher cost.
I own a large number of Riverside Cds more than Bluenote because i like the people Orrin Keepnews recorded like Blue Mitchell, Cannonball, Jimmy Heath and Evans and Monk.
How about a hand for the producer Orrin Keepnews, for having the insight to record these cats in the first place? Try to get his book "The View From Within"(Oxford University Press,1988)-a great read on the fine hard bop of the period.
How about a hand for producer Keepnews for having the insight to record these cats in the first place? Track down his informative book on what it was like-places,personaliies and such-called "The View From Within"(Oxford University Press,1988)if you can find it. It's worth the effort.
One of the great unknown "masters." If you ask anyone about Bill Evans, they sadly won't know who he is. Except for those in industry. Thanks for posting.
Ahh,bill still has influence on young pianist, but yes most of the general public doesnt know him. They know Kenny G, a nothing player who makes millions playing mostly out of tune, simple bs-sad
My man! It seems that those who can't play jazz are most often in charge of the industry and look at music to be a tool for talking money out of the wallets of ignorant people who like to boast how they like jazz but actually don't like Charlie Parker after listening to him. Most things have been dumbed down for the buck and we have and are paying for it. The ignoring of jazz history and other historical contributions made by those who created jazz is one of the dumbest things..
but if you ask anyone about jazz in general, they probably won't know what it is anyway. xD ask a jazz player about Bill Evans, and they'll know who he is.
Only one thing has to be understood.

All are invited to a BEAUTIFUL Bill Evans master class on his life and music. Type in "Dave Frank" Evans on Youtube. Bill lives!

Bill Evans, even with his personal challenges, was a triumph in the world of jazz. Orrin helped Bill's music touch so many.

That's "Know What I Mean?" It's off of an album by the same name. It says it in the credits. It's a really great album, "Venice" is a beautiful tune.
