After 7 deployments and now finally retired, I have come home from deployments, or surprised my kids during R&R, and each time from the Fathers point of view-- there is a flood of emotions for the child they have been away from. Its a hole in your heart every day you are deployed. Coming home and seeing them is a "joy" those on the outside cannot even begin to understand.
