Great Slides!...I grew up in Philly listenin to MMR and the Hooters.... this vid is a nice flashback. gonna see them at the Electric Factory on Black friday '10
Just buy the cd (I bought the lp 25 years ago), convert the track to an mp3, and then put it into your ipod. Trust me, it's worth every dollar! Good stuff!!
Our HS was in that contest too. We didn't win, but there was such enthusiasm for the Hooters that the school booked a concert anyway. Strath Haven (formerly Nether Providence) High School, spring 1985. I still love The Hooters. Thanks for posting the song.
wow - i mean WOW!!!! i am sitting here with chills up and down my spine and tears in my eyes - the memories of youth that this brought back! these guys were picture frames for every teens life in philadelphia in the mid 80's......if any of the band ever read this know one thing: YOU ARE A PHILADELPHIA TREASURE!
Dude, thanks for posting an earlier version of this tune. The one from "Nervous Night", well, it sucks. Way over produced. The local single cut is really good too. Miss you Andy. You were really great with the band.
And R.I.P. and God bless Robert Hazard. Just learned of his passing.
Hey gcorp...this Andy, bass player circa 84-89. I was looking for the old arrangement of Heartbeat and came across this. I believe the contest winner was Bishop Shanahan ? I do know over 23 million 3x5 cards were filled out { i have a picture somewhere of us sitting atop the pile in a warehouse} and that the contest led to us playing at many many high schools . We dubbed it the Lasagna Tour because that is what every concert commitee thought was the easiest meal to fix for 30 band and crew
@kingtube58 I gotta ask, is this you playing bass on this track or was it the guy before you? For the record I always thought this version & the bass part in particular were superior to the Nervous Nights version.
@kingtube58 Dude - I was such a big fan of you and the Hooters. I can't begin to tell you. It's great to see your name here. One of my all time favs is your cover of Lucy in the Sky.... We're talking my Top Ten... of all time. Didn't you sing it at Live Aid? How frickin' cool was that? Love EVERY SECOND OF THAT SONG. Thanks for the memories Andy. Hope you're well.
That's cool you remember that. I remember they were the Main band on MTV'S New Years eve ball. I thing I still have the vhs of that. Man these guys are great.
@TrueColors311 No offense taken here for your good advice, your message was probably for me. Sorry it got misplaced, lol.

I LOVED The Hooters.
I met them at Space Oddessy (a record store in NJ) . I have that yellow 45 record with all of their signatures on it!
This is such an awesome version of this song!
