  • Is that Lex Luthor?

  • I love this guy :D

  • haha that guy is so energetic

  • hi yamaha team, great tutorial!! ..im a beat maker and was wondering how to do triplets and doubles on the high hat on the drums section on the mm8,which occur mostly in hip hop genres..? thnx

  • Thanks Bert, I now own a yamaha MM6. Yamaha hit the jackpot with this guy.

  • Great realist sounds.

  • Lolololol 1:32!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm making breakcore/hard idm/idm and i don't give a shit what am i using :D

  • Anyway is mm6 useful as a recording tool for composing music for beginners like me? Is there any bad points about it?

  • @Sodam7 Yes, it's useful as a recording tool for you and there are no bad points about it.

  • Hebat!

    Great demonstration too!

    Greetings from Indonesia.

  • 2:06

  • I kinda wish yamaha would make a new version of the mm series

  • I own 4 Yamaha keyboards. Entry level? Try 'easy to operate'. When you want to get it on without a lot of hassle, this is the one for you. I really like it.

  • Every keyboard is wonderful, u just need to know it and then combine all the effects together and make a call song or remix XD

  • cool!

  • lol this dude is too much, and I mean that in the best way

  • Man, why Yamaha MM6 so strongly oriented and propagandize to electric "music'? The demos on this machine - are deep electric shit. The big part of built-in patterns is rap and electric "music". Why? What the hell? This machine is very-very good for it's price. The grand piano is great! The functionality is also amazing. I'm sure, Yamaha high- quality instruments must be oriented on a true art: instrumental, rock, pop, jazz, blues music and musicians, but not for shit (rap and electric...)

  • @BasilGnet This is a great keyboard I could use for my productions because my styles are R&B & Electro but I prefer to get an older version of this same brand like a couple of years earlier because the older, the cheaper

  • IF you dont want this after watching this its something wrong with you! :P

  • Does it have piano touch? Please respond

  • @jackrob5 what do you mean?

  • @dangeurs If it has a piano touch it's because when you play it feels like you're playing piano. But it's ok, I got my answer by somebody else!

  • @jackrob5 so what you mean is if it has weighted keys??

  • @dangeurs yeah kinda

  • @dangeurs the answer is yes

  • So how many tracks per song? I mean how many instruments per beat can i have. I want to buy it for hip hop production becouse sometimes i`m sick of opening the pc and the midi keyboards. So can i make a beat with 1 track of drums, 2 with lead synths, 1 base and 1 with strings . I seen on theyr website saying that they support as arranger 8 tracks per song and can store 5 songs on it, but i want to be shure

  • good demoman

  • i love your review, very enjoyable. but that synth just sounds bland to me

  • @casm2003 I love this keyboard. Hasn't disappointed me yet!

  • HELP!!!!how many layer of sound can the mm6 can do? im a big fan of orchestra sounds..i feel like adding different elements on the sound like adding timpani on the lower part of the keyboard and use velocity switch on it. thanks for the response :)

  • @vonne25000 It's not that powerful actually. it can stack 2 sounds together. and with 32 polyphony. it's gonna have note drop out. you might want to check out some higher range keyboards if you cant to do Orchestral sound. I personally prefer a kurzweil pc3 series board. they have the best orchestral sounds,

  • @cvl85 I played at a concert with it and the note drop was annoying, I had to go back home and get my motif.

  • @bigshaq12 Ya I did too. was playing with a simple piano ans strings. and the strings just cut off.. Grrrr!!!!

  • @cvl85 LOL... can't go wrong with the MOTIF my friend. even the MOX6/8 are very nice!!!! the quality pretty cheap but the sound is OMG!!! out of this world!

  • @vonne25000

You should also try a soft-synth like Garritan Personal Orchestra. Memory on keyboards to load sample sets is small compared to PC RAM. eg. 128MB versus 4GB.

  • Eu tenho um.....e voce ? rs

  • Look at that guy's fingers!! :O

  • 245yw

  • does this have more than one split point? cant seem to find how to do that?

  • @sadworld111 look in the Utilities button or something like that. then scroll through the options using the dec/inc buttons...

  • Ahahaha, that guy has some real fun presenting these machines ;D

  • 1:30 -- Babap EEH!

  • why don't the rotary knobs get disabled when you save a performance? it could sound totally different when you call up a performance if your knobs aren't exactly as they were when you saved the performance? am i missing something?

  • seem like the rotary knobs should get disabled when you save a performance because when you call the performance up it may sound different if your knobs aren't exactly as they were when you saved the performance? am i missing something?

  • O Bert Smorenburg conhece e muito, mas parece que fumou umas...

  • "when you buy the machine you'll impress your girlfriend and all this stuff, because it's very important when you're musician."

    Bert Smorenburg

  • @fedalxis lol

  • This video made me buy the mm6

  • @DRUMyourgoals same here m8!!

  • @mytrifanesti Well not necessarily entry starter level, more of a...entry level workstation/synthesizer. :)

  • @mytrifanesti Well not necessarily entry starter level, more of a...entry level workstation/synthesizer. :(

  • 4:40 for he is not important impress his girlfriend he got a boyfriend

  • You're the best ...., very cool :-)

  • Bert is the coolest....

  • do the lead tones on this thing mono or hav a portamento effect

  • hahaha. This nigga really feelin' this shit.... URRRph!Uhh!!! hahaha. you be the judge. lol

  • can anyone help me??

am i right in thinking this keyboard has no speakers?? do you have to have it through computer to hear it??

    thanks :)

  • @haani4 Your riite it has no speakers.. but yu dnt need a computer.. yu can use headphones or an input device such as an amplifyer or PA system etc

  • @haani4 You do not need a computer, but you do need external speakers. You can use it with a computer as a MIDI controller, but all you need is a keyboard amp or any other speakers.

  • I would be grateful if someone could tell me the answer... I have the MM6 . I know how to write songs or patterns... my problem is that I write a pattern and when I press PLAY it doesn't repeat the written material... it plays it only once... what have I to do in order to repeat playing my recordings ??

  • @Sharpblade91 from what ive heard, this board is not not a worksatation, you cant loop, quantize, or import and export wav files. if you connected it to an interface and a daw than you can do alot more. at least thats what the dudes at guitar center told me.

  • @mytrifanesti that keyboard cost $500$ u

  • @mytrifanesti that keyboard cost 500$ u

  • How do I select the drum machine? Is it the metronome?

  • @ViniciusGuitarGuy Press PATTERN and select one, then press START/STOP to start your selected Pattern.

Metronome is just a "ticking clock" to help you keeping a Tempo ;-)

If you have other questions, just ask via Inbox

  • @mytrifanesti that is his job ;) . but his price i rather affordable compared other synthesaizers. that's the reason why this is an entry machine... here in greece it costs 530 euros, while others cost 1200 and 1500 euros... :)

  • look at his face at 2:31 ! he is expressed so funny! xaxaxax! i LOOOVE this advertisement!!!!

  • Is there a successor to the mini-motif on the way? I finally have the money to buy this but it may be prudent to wait... Thanks for any response!

  • @loeher182 I don't know but i'm in the same situation so if you find something tell me

  • This guy annoys me so much, enthusiasm is great, but not that much :S

  • I never came back and said anything after I ordered my MM8 a year ago. All I can say about this keyboard is that if it is in your price range and you want something that you feel should probably cost more, order it.

I have definitely NOT been sorry I bought it. It's a wonderful keyboard that has brought me lots of satisfaction.

  • I want it so frickin bad it's not even funny.

  • Hi all! Does anyone know the voice's name of 0:36 and 0:46?

  • this guy really knows how top play this toy

  • Hi,

Does anyone know if the MO6 has an auto-accompaign feature on the left hand side, like the MM6?

    thx.

  • That improv base synth was nice.

  • 10 morons didn't like it!

  • This keyboard from Yamaha is realy realy great!!! I find Yamaha make more keyboards for amateurs but this thing is amazing, i have the "yamaha psr sq 16" GLG Danny

  • "Just to impress your girlfriend becasue that is very important when you are a musician" @ 4:40 . That a good one lol. Thumbs up if you like that for a lough!!

  • @expressmalta he just said that in such a 'matter-of-fact' way... i wonder how many times he rehearsed that lol

  • I have an mm8 but very limited to drum beats. They are repated 3 times, either full, with bass or just drums. They cold have included more drum beats and included 2 extra buttons to have with bass or drums only. They sounds sine digital are not very easy to modify and store new sounds. Otherwise good synth with nice arpeggio. Also at this price would expect to change the drum kit. Very limited to beats. Great synth overall.

  • @expressmalta You can make your own drum beats however you want them! :D

  • @ut000bs Hi can you tell me how to re program the drum beats in this beast?? Really appreciate. It has great sounds. I have the MM8.

  • 1,000$... isn't really affordable lol

  • @Jetplane1123

compared to a good synth, it is really affordable

  • @Jetplane1123 lol its about 450 bucks

  • I tried one in store, it doesn't come anywhere close to how it sounds in this video, and it felt like a $200 keyboard. The piano sound is very thin and overly processed...The keys on mm8 felt very awkward. However, the keys on the Mo6 and Mo8 were great!

  • this guy is the man, learnt so much from his vids.

  • I just have to buy this one now! I wasn't too sure about it but now i am. lol i had to crack up at the part with the arab music. :)

  • heavy metal geeetarz. haha

  • Hah! I could watch this guy all day. Hes the definition of a funky white boy. xD

  • This guy is hilarious

  • it sounds like a dgx... children sounds...

  • yamaha hey want to know how to get your mail that I see that the pianist is very good and I want to send some tutorials

    thanks

    I await your prompt response

  • Bert's enthusiam for music alone is contangous enough for me to go out and purchase one! Even if it is an "Entry-Level" Synth Worksation!

  • 3 Words.

    Bert. Fucking. Smorenburg.

  • should I get this or a 9 yr old kork triton in perfect condition? I just want to add some crazy synth sounds ala Radiohead to my house band sound.

  • @jasonsr3 Dude...if u get this one, I will find u and crush ur machine. Get the KORG Triton...u can't get any better than that. Triton has awesome sounds. awesome look, and this Yamaha looks ugly....

    get the KORG

  • @BrandonProductions1 LoL thanks thats what I needed to hear, I also just saw a Roland fantom s61 on Craigslist for 399 that I think looks pretty interesting.

  • @jasonsr3 Oooo...that's a tuff one...um...idk...maybe the Fantom.

  • Piekny istument .

  • Does somebody know whats the song from the part that hey play on 4:25 - 4:33 ??

  • This keyboard from Yamaha is realy realy great!!! I find Yamaha make more keyboards for amateurs but this thing is amazing, the mm6 is much more than a keyboard for starters i think.

  • @europe85hollywood I think they call it a keyboard for starters because of the price. This thing is ready for the stage. You can do so many things with it. Add some editing software (a lite version ships with it sometimes) and the sky is pretty much the limit, actually.

  • 4:23 that song is pretty catchy

  • I love this man so much. :D

  • I was going to go for this but when i tried it in the shop i was dissappointed with the plastic fel of the keys. No doubt it its accessible and useful piece of kit tho.

I went for the MO6 instead, also a good machine.

    Bert for Euro President!!!

  • At 1:40 he plays the bass line from Jazz JackRabbit PC game intro tune :)

  • This guy is awesome. Good demo.

  • I will bye an MM6 if Mr. Smorenberg is involved: Acutually, I would bye a rusty handdrivern grass-clipper if he was the salesman. He is amazing in creating interest of a product.

  • man he could sell anything haha

  • this blokes a ledgend :L

  • Now would i be able to use q base live ?

  • I am wondering of it has the same "feeling" as a piano or more like a keyboard. could somebody please tell me?

  • @FeestMR If you mean weighted keys (like on a real piano) then no, and its a 61-key

  • hahaha, at 1:41 he's playing the bass line from Jazz JackRabbit theme song!

  • hahaha, at 1:41 he's playing the bass line from Jazz JackRabbit theme song!

  • lmao watch this with the captions its so funny what it thinks he says.

  • this keyboard doesn't transmit or receive aftertouch!! WTF? and I was going to get one...

  • I have a mm6... But the synth lead of this machine are stereo... for change stereo to mono???? Because in the S90 es are mono...

  • so do these things have internal speakers? cuz i cant see them on the actuall thing,

  • the on board sequencer is beyond bad for anyone interested

  • nice

  • What song is playing at 0:36

  • Im on the market for an MM8 or an MO8. Which one should I get (price is not an issue in my choice)?

  • haha, this guy is great. Make you wanna buy that

  • Can you please tell me what kind of piano or pianos you are using?? and what settings because mine doesn't sound that nice.

    Please anyone.

  • 'I have a cutoff and resonance - KNOB right here'

    Ha! love him.

  • i wish i was related to this guy lol

  • Wow, this guy is too much. This guy literally needs a chill pill.

  • I have to say this guy is an awesome presenter.

  • you must be the best mm6 player and very well explained demo video, i am off out to buy one this minute. :0) bonkers.

  • can i toouch without a pc ?

sorry, but i don't know a lot of english

i hope you can understand me-

if i dont have a pc, can i play this mm6?

  • i was going to sell my MM6, but the way you play it makes me wanna keep it. Your the truth... care to share and tips or secrets for a guy thats only been playing for 4 months ever... I play in churches by ear..

  • just spend the extra money and get the Mo6!!!

  • the paino presets seemed pretty good. the organ sounds however turned me off a little bit

  • this guy is such a credit to yamaha, really good player and he really gets into it, great videos.

  • This keyboard has some good sounds. But no built in speakers. So I think you'd need some amplifier to play live.

The bit at 2.20 sounds a little like Gigi Dagostino.

  • I got my new yamaha MM8 this labor day sale, I got tthe best deal of all for 789 dollars, I checked all the music websites they all listed for 999 dollars for a new yamaha MM8.

  • in france it's 600 euros

  • Well, I ordered an MM8. I wanted the weighted keyboard and full size is important to me, a piano player.

    Wish me luck! :)

  • How'd the MM8 work out for you?

  • i was considering getting this at some point but now that you mentioned MM8 and its size i might have to check that out as i'm also real picky on size.

  • what is with the weighted keys what do they do?

  • It's semi weighted but nice

  • @ut000bs You're already lucky. Why more luck? :)

  • @ut000bs I see you posted this a year ago. How do you like your MM8 now that you've had plenty of time to play with it? Thanks for any input.

  • Great demo. At the very beginning at 0:04when the two white lines open he looks like he's asleep then all of a sudden he wakes up and begins demoing.

  • hahahaha it does

  • @kingofkeyboards that is because Bert is an android.... lol.

  • @Novaheart1998 haha yeah :)

  • @kingofkeyboards lol Yeah it doe's look like he's sleeping.

  • @kingofkeyboards LMAO i cnt stop laughing lol

  • @kingofkeyboards xa0x0axa0!! what a great comment! like a still robot , which presses the play button xa0xa0ax! great demo ! And this synthesaizer is rather affordable comparing with the others. :)

  • how much money?

  • About $700- $1000 I think

  • as of sept 27th 09 it is listed for $600 on guitar center, but i think its 14% off so price might go up next month

  • 600-700

  • about $600

  • i'm getting one my self soon!

  • did u ever get it

  • Bert, not only a great musician and peformer, but your enthusiasm makes us want one!

  • Agreed

  • OH yeah, it better do midi.

  • In Argentina the price of MM6 is U$S1000. Yamaha, what's wrong with you? -.-

  • its half that in U.S

  • Yeah same here in Europe...

  • Same in Sweden, a wee bit over US$1000. But then again, everything's expensive here. I'd buy one tomorrow for $650!

  • @corran6horn go to thomann - you can now buy a mm 8 with 88 hammer action keys for just over 500 euros brand new

  • I can buy it for 499 Euro :)
