For a first person perspective of what Birkenau looked like and was type in "Kitty Return to Auschwitz". It's 14 parts long and a woman that was there describes exactly what Birkenau was like. Birkenau was another part of the Auschwitz complex. (the part with 4 large gas chambers)

I don`t know what building she was at 5:00 but all the gas chambers and crematoriums of the extermination were in Birkenau not in the main camp which is where this video obviously was shot. She seems to mistakenly think this building was one of those used for main exterminations which it isn`t. Those were all destroyed by the SS. This is most likely just one of the smaller crematoriums in the main camp used to burn the bodies of those who died of illness, starvation, etc.
That is Krema 1, one of at least 8 different areas where people were gassed to death at Auschwitz-Birkenau.

While there were smaller "gas chambers" around the main camp mostly for eliminating the sick and weak my point was that these are not the "gas chambers" one normally thinks of when we discuss mass extermination at Birkenau. All those were destroyed. Krema 1 was used to kill approx. 10,000 people over a years time which in itself is tragic but pales in comparrisson to the mass extermination in Birkenau. Actually Krema 1 was reconstructed by the Soviets in 1947

As a Polish citizen I must say that for us it is very emotional.
I've been to Auschwitz camp today with my class.All Poles were sad or thrilled...some - crying.
Norwegians were giggling.Germans were chilled like after few joints not talking about Swedes...just ridicolous.

But the hair was shaven off to protect the prison from an outbreak of Typhus. that simple. All camps in europe in that era used Zyklon B. For a first person perspective of what Birkenau looked like and was type in "Kitty Return to Auschwitz". It's 14 parts long and a woman that was there describes exactly what Birkenau was like. Birkenau was another part of the Auschwitz complex. (the part with 4 large gas chambers)

In the winter with the snow on it looks like Santa Claus may come across the field any minute in his sleigh pulled by reindeer. Most of those pictures are typical images of war. German cities after air-raids looked like that, bodies were piled up. Armies often travelled like cattle packed in a train to the front-lines. Just cause the jews had to travel like that its like this massive crime.

I don`t know what building she was at 5:00 but all the gas chambers and crematoriums of the extermination were in Birkenau not in the main camp which is where this video obviously was shot. She seems to mistakenly think this building was one of those used for main exterminations which it isn`t. Those were all destroyed by the SS. This is most likely just one of the smaller crematoriums in the main camp used to burn the bodies of those who died of illness, starvation, etc.

Testimony of SS-Unterscharführer Perry Broad, describing gassing in Krema I in Auschwitz. Quoted in KL Auschwitz as Seen by the SS, p. 176:
He describes gassing in Krema 1, but not enough room to post here. People in the SS hospital next door said they could see men with gas masks pouring the tins of Zyklon in holes on the roof of that structure.

Yes thank you for pointing that out. While there were smaller "gas chambers" around the main camp mostly for eliminating the sick and weak my point was that these are not the "gas chambers" one normally thinks of when we discuss mass extermination at Birkenau. All those were destroyed. Krema 1 was used to kill approx. 10,000 people over a years time which in itself is tragic but pales in comparrisson to the mass extermination in Birkenau. Actually Krema 1 was reconstructed by the Soviets in 1947

It took innocent peoples lives, therefore makes it as bad as the gas chambers up at Birkenau. You can see the remnants of the other gas chambers but due to the extreme rain that Poland had you had to stay well away as the immediate area had become dangerous. Even the "Ramp"was quite soft

Every year he goes back to pay tribute to his family and remember. He actually said that Auschwitz 1 was a "Paradise" compared with Auschwitz-Birkenau. So we get to know a little more straight from an actual prisoner.

I´m german and we´reDo you know how many jokes about those camps and the holocaust in germany are told? You can´t do it in public, tho, but with close friends...you realize...no german gives a shit about this stuff...They make fun of the nazis and the jews alike. Example? I visited such a camp in Dachau with school and a friend of mine said in front of the gas chamber..."dude I smell weed, do they sell weed here??" few people laughed. THIS is how german people are! keep it in mind

and the biggest part of the germans would have not supported hitler, if they knew that he told lies...ONLY lies. the unemployness was so high...famine was there and they thought, because hitler told them, that everything would be better. how should they know?

i´m german...and the hardest thing to hear is the prejudices like "all german are nazis".because we´re not.they told lies, they told the population, that hey will all get jobs and stuff.and this was bullshit.and even if they sent the people to the concentration camps, they told them they would vacation.they took everything with them, hoping for a better life.
germans are not nazis,the people in the war just didnt know that it would go that far.they wouldn´t have done it if the did

This was done by weak people who followed evil people and dont think that this cant hapen again. As long as greed and evil and indifference to others suffering is allowed to take place on a mass scale this will happen again and again. Human genocide has taken place throughout human history and its happening as we speak somewhere in theworld . it's easy to blame the germans
but hate for no other reason than the fact that others are different is a human flaw that a lot of us have in us.
