@KK96703 Indeed, you have never studied the Hawaiian language, and therefore have no basis to argue about the etymology of any Hawaiian words. The false etymology you believe in has been perpetuated by generations of non-speakers. Mary Kawena Pukui, who was an expert on the Hawaiian language, correctly believed otherwise. As have the majority of linguists in this area. I am Hawaiian, have lived in Hawaiʻi my entire life, and speak the language fluently. I doubt you've ever even been here.
@Kamaka675 Aloha, You are very fortunate to have lived in Hawaii all your life! I do live in Hawaii and I love the place, the people, the culture. Although I took a class on the Hawaiian language, there is still much to learn. I have read many books however on the history and the culture and I have protested along side Hawaiians in our attempt to bring to light the history of what happened here in Hawaii ~ Aloha nui loa and Mahalo! Love and Peace, KK
"Some Hawaiians...say that because foreigners did not know or use the honi (the Hawaiian word for "kiss"), a Polynesian and Hawaiian greeting by touching nose-to-nose and inhaling or essentially sharing each other's breaths, and so the foreigners were described as "breathless." The implication is not only that foreigners are aloof and ignorant of local ways, but also literally have no spirit or life within."
@KK96703 Again, that is a false etymology for the word haole. That is not the origination or meaning of the term. The term dates back to antiquity, before the arrival of Europeans, and has been applied to the god Kamapuaʻa in a chant as follows: He haole nui maka ʻālohilohi - A large bright eyed foreigner. The term has also been applied to foreign animals. Anyone who has studied the Hawaiian language should already be aware of this.

@KK96703 Unfortunately, the world haole does not mean "without breath". That is a false etymology commonly believed by non-speakers of the language. The word haole means foreign. Hā ʻole would mean "without breath," and would be pronounced completely differently. The word hāʻule, which an individual wrote as a result of a typo, is a completely different term which means to fall. The sushi here sucks. I don't know why, but I've never found sushi (on Oahu) that comes close to what I could get at 5 or 6 different places all within a 5 minute walk of my house in SF.
BTW, you're quite the idiot for so many other reasons in this vid. Please, don't move here. We have enough of your type as tourists. Come, spend, go home.
you must of got laid LOL go home bitch you do not know the first thing about having fun on the islands i am from hawaii but now live in GA the only reason i moved was because the cost of living is tooooo high, go home haole
But I have to disagree with you on your "most beautiful women" comment. You are in Waikiki, so you are probably seeing mostly tourists. Go hang around Wahiawa, Whitmore, and places like that, and you will see lots of ugly women(not saying they all are). Even on the beaches(maybe away from Waikiki) you will see just regular people, and plenty of pencil-thin asians. Just saying, get out of the tourist areas and see some regular people.
I agree with you. I live in Hawaii. GREAT PLACE! The only downside to living here is all of the construction of hotels. It destroys the look of what Hawaii REALLY is. But if you do, come to visit me!!!
Um. Just because someone's from Hawaii doesn't make them Hawaiian(Including myself) but yeah, quite a few, although not a lot at the same time do have iPhones.
Also, I'm glad that you got a taste of our Aloha Culture (Although that can't be said for everyone here). Also, you should stay for Winter. IT RAINS LIKE HELL. Er.. kinda. :]
Also next time you're on Oahu, you should go to Highway Inn (Hawaiian Food).
We as humans seem to show our best traits and strengths when put upon, it seems. The downtrodden are released and the become the tyrants and vice versa ad infinitum sadly.
