  • Chris Cornell's voice can make anything sound great. Though this song is pure ownage anyways!

  • gonna sink all the haters with my pink torpedo

  • needs rhytmn bass, lead bass, bass piano, bass drums, bass guitar, and bass vocals

  • @chuck3377 and it needs to go up to eleven

  • @chuck3377 don't forget a bit of backing bass

  • Aw, I like it. :)

  • Those guitars go to eleven

  • Chris' voice fits perfectly for this song.

  • Dayum, i love this version. So darn heavy!

  • people, look up the video version of this song....its way better!! Louder than Live the video version is a million times better...

  • It's called 'Big Bottom', not Big Bottom Girls. You're confusing it with Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen.

  • how fucking cool is this? frowngarden had a sense of humor even in their black hearted days.

  • @nworbrelytthefirst

they always had a sense of humor throughout their career.....more so in their earlier days though.....

  • i have noticed there are a lot of "experts" on music

a lot of "musicians" who make comments based on a word they heard somewhere

then they try to pass themselves off as knowledgeable for using that word

i assure you, soundgarden uses different tunings, but all of them are correct

and chris cornell is one of the greatest singers of all time, who has fronted not one, but two bands toward immeasurable success, and if you want to count temple of the dog...three

you sit home and type on youtube

  • @banklikefrankwhite1 Amen bro'

  • @banklikefrankwhite1

And, if we take in the amount of your comments and their size, you do just that three times as much as everyone else.

    Hypocrite.

  • @Haheehahohaheehoha if you take 2 comments and both being longer than twitter length, then i do what exactly?

i'll assume you're drunk..but either way, i'd love to hear you finish your thought

  • @Haheehahohaheehoha if you refer to type on youtube...i also don't go around bashing people who achieved more than i have. i do type on youtube, every time i can't sleep

  • this may not be the popular opinion...but i kinda like soundgardens interpretation

they play the song, but make it their own, just like their amazing cover of my favorite band ever's song come together

    awesome rendition

  • With these covers, Spinal Tap passed from parody into legend!

  • amazing cover. just imagine how good it would sound in D minor.

  • I guess we shouldn't take anything TOO seriously eh? Cheers to the classic spinal tap guys !!!

  • Now this is a cover

  • FN ROCKIN! Had to be a blast at this show!

  • I like this, it's Soundgarden's own style.

  • it's pretty sad when you consider yourself a great band, cover "spinal tap", and your version is much, much worse than the actors' version. this is a great song, but a horrendous cover.

i'm not a fan, but maybe was soundgaden the worst band ever? they are bad for a high school band. horrrible.

  • @what1111000 Your opinion is redundant. Soundgarden are pure class you muppet!

  • @what1111000 you're stupid

  • @what1111000 I agree. Guest, McKean and Shearer are severely underrated as musicians, and Soundgarden are terribly overrated. I was relieved to see grunge die.

  • @noi5emaker Retard.

  • @HillsideStrangler469 Taken as a verb rather than a noun, that would be possible. However, as the latter I fail to see how differing opinions relate to neurotransmission velocity.

  • @noi5emaker while I agree that Spinal Tap are underrated, how is Soundgarden overrated?

  • @Lawldudz Because they're lauded as harbingers of great music. This cover proves they can only create shite noise.

  • @noi5emaker well you shouldn't base your assumption of their music by one mediocre cover. They have a lot of great music, some mediocre music, some great covers, some terrible covers. Point is, on the whole, Soundgarden really does play great music THAT THEY CREATED. their covers might not be so great, but theyre still good.

  • @Lawldudz I wasn't basing my assumption on this cover alone. I was basing it on their entire discography. I was an adult for the entire 90s. I remember only too well.

  • @noi5emaker well from the way you said "This cover proves they can only create shite noise" it seemed to me that you based it all on this cover. I apologise, I understand why someone wouldn't like Soundgarden etc.

  • @Lawldudz No worries, I can see that I wasn't completely clear. But hey, each to his own!

  • can't match Spinal Tap - the loudest band ever

  • "i gonna sink her with my pink torpedo..." the Tap rule, and they're only a piss take lol

  • "i wanna sink it with my pink torpedo..." the Tap rule, and they're only a piss take lol

  • So what if the song was a joke? It was still a great song and this version kind of sucks. The lyrics of the song were the damn joke, the music was actually great.

  • You can cover Metallica, you can cover Beatles, you can cover Mozart, you can cover Dylan, you can cover Bach, but you just can't cover Spinal Tap. They are above it all!

  • Grab the audio from this tune at thetunify doht cohm.

  • Just goes to show ya, nobody rocks like the 'Tap!

  • Get that fucking electric guitar out of that song right fucking now...

  • Gimme a break. You can't even hear the bass, the drums are playing too straight, and Cornell is off key. They murdered this song.

  • Seriously, lets critique a cover of a song that was meant as a joke in the first place...wow,running out of things to bitch and argue about has never been MORE apparent.....

  • @killuhjaye73 lol exactly

  • Tuning your guitar is always a good option

  • OH MY GOD!! OH NO THEY DID'NT!!

  • Shite!

  • Yeah, they killed it. No they murdered it.

  • Yeah, they killed it.

  • I have a bootleg 45 with this and Earache my Eye on it.

  • that went in one ear and out your mother

  • wow that guitar is desperately flat

  • Chris isn't even in key.

  • that sounds siick!

  • They can't hold a candle to Spinal Tap.

  • YIKES

  • it doesnt sound right unless its all bass...talk about mud flap my girls got em

  • wow this is just terrible

  • rawwk

  • "Big Dumb Sex" is Soundgarden's answer to all the glam band's and their songs filled with sexual innuendo.

  • I am sure SG got the joke, I mean they have songs called 'get on the snake' and 'black hole sun' if that isn't getting the joke, I don't know what is.

ps. Spinal Tap..greatest movie of all time,

  • awful

  • this rocks.

  • You all suck just my opinion, any comment here should be about how SG rule

    full stop :D

    Soundgarden rules!!

  • M U D F L A P S rule. More cushion 4 tha pushin. I miss having a bbw gf. This song brings tears to my red, red eyes

  • I was definitely born way before Soundgarden got together, and I can tell you that Spinal Tap was making fun of the metal bands of the 1970s like Sabbath and Zeppelin and Rainbow and Dio, not any grunge bands, not any industrial bands.

However, having said that, Chris Cornell sounds wayyyyyy offkey in this song.

  • Yes, I know that Spinal Tap was making fun of the bands you mention (and others). I guess what I'm saying is that Soundgarten became one of those ridiculous metal bands bands a sort of self-parody that is amplified by their covering this song. But that's just my opinion. You're entitled to your own.

  • Th song was originally a caricature of the hair metal scene at the time. I can assure you SG got the joke. They loved pulling the piss out of the hair metal bands as much as any grunge band and what better way to do it than with this song??

  • Hair metal didn't exist when that film came out - was actually directed at all those Deep Purple types from '70s mate. They didn't like it at the premiere and remained stony faced the whole way thru'!

This particular rendition proves how few Americans understand irony and how the 90s/00 scene became exactly what the film parodied.

  • Oh? "Hair metal" didn't exist in 1984?

Just wallow in your own ignorance. . .

  • Agreed!

  • sounds like drop d tuning

  • uhh......im pretty sure Spinal tap WAS NOT making fun of bands like Soundgarden who were about as far from glam/corporate rock or butt rock as i like to call it, which is what Spinal Tap was mocking....Soundgarden were an extremely progressive band who ranged from heavy metal to punk to psychadelic blues....Soundgarden knows what Spinal tap was about, they just liked this song as its hella funny....

  • far too seriously? they did a spinal tap cover mate......

  • I take your point. I'm just not convinced that Soundgarden perceived the irony ...

  • Considering that filming for the movie "This is Spinal Tap" was finished no later than 1983, before Soundgarden had even formed, it seems unlikely that Reiner, Guest, McKean et al had Soundgarden specifically in mind, or even knew of Soundgarden, when writing the satirical songs.

  • Spinal Tap's sources, influences and targets are legion. The current band, as shown in the film, has elements of many bands of the 1970s to early '80s: Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Mott the Hoople, Uriah Heep etc. Then the flashbacks draw from early '60s Brit Invasion groups such as the Small Faces (Gimme Some Money) and early Beatles (All the Way Home is much like One After 909), and flower power and Sgt. Pepper influences ca. 1967-68.

That's to name only a few.

  • when soundgarden covers a song, they always change things up and make it more rocking. and this is no exception, this cover kicks ass, i love it dearly

  • Song is called Big Bottom, not Big Bottom Girls

  • Soundgarden louder then live vhs ( i own the vhs and the cd, and 2 albums both with different cover pics)

filmed at whiskey in summer of 89 i believe

BTW your listening to a live performance...

  • News flash to those who can't resist bitching about this. It's from a low budget film of a live show - two chaotic situations rolled into one. I own the video, so I know firsthand.

  • DREADFUL

  • Riff is awesome. Cover's aren't supposed to be same as the original otherwise whats the point seriously?

  • I love spinal tap, thanks soundgarden!!!

  • The original was played with 3 bass guitars so they might have used something to make their regular guitars sound lower and that could mess up the tuning/intonation. I like it though.

  • fuck u+

  • it is in the right key

  • Too much guitar. Not enough bass.

  • wow... i never expected this...

    TO BE S0 AWES0ME!!! :D

  • this version is awesome

  • talk about bum cakes...

  • my girls gottem!

  • big bottom drives me outta my mind..

  • how could i leave this behind?

  • The original is a timeless stone cold classic. This is a mess. What were they thinking?!

  • sunmachine09:

In answer to your question: NOT A @#(*&^%$!!! THING. I admit that 's harsh, especially from someone who was really pissed when Soundgarden broke up, but the original is classic. Cover versions don't bother me in general-every now and again a cover actually surpasses the original-but what kind of fuckery is this? My ears are vomiting!

  • Definitely not the same with guitars in it.

  • I agree... it needs bass guitar, lead bass, rhythm bass etc... Guitars ruin it.

  • The Drums at the beginning are messed up also

  • @aircooledTOM true, I'm a guitar player and I wholeheartedly agree!

  • Its called big bottom.

  • hey dude i was watching the other vid

  • hey yo curls! THE LOOSER THER WAISTBAND THE....

  • Each velvety cheek day

  • I actually have this cd, i like the utube version of big bottom an earache my eye better but still damn good song

  • you thought that beeeeecause 'big bottom girls' is actually a song from queen. 'big bottom', happen to be the real name of this cover song from spinal tap.

  • It's Fat Bottomed Girls

  • you're absolutely right. my mistake.

  • this one goes up to 12! awesome!

  • I think it sounds pretty good.

  • It's just "Big Bottom"... you're thinking of Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls".

  • This is from the "Louder than Live" promo CD. It came in a brown corrugated cardboard sleeve with yellow/black tape on it.

  • Thanks, I'll update it.

  • It also came as a limited edition cd digi-pack in the UK for Rusty Cage, along with Earache My Eye. They were different versions to the 'Louder than Live' recordings, I do believe.
