I would recommend unscrewing the grille, carefully take the foam out and wash in warm soapy water/Rinse, leave to dry.
The Reason is, if the mic is used on stage with singers that spit/spray saliva a lot, it hardens on the foam creating a barrier between the vocalist and the mics diaphram.
Thus more input gain is required at the console, also the sound comming from the stage monitors for the artist is bouncing off the back side of the hardened saliva straight into the Diaphram, increasing f/back
John, Just unscrew the cover from the mic. It screws on like a nut on a bolt. Then spray all you want. When you unscrew the top off the mic you will understand why....
Jesus, don't do this. Please.
With a dynamic mic, all you need to do is remove the grille, then wash the foam and grille away from the diaphragm.
Or even better, don't let people vomit beer on it in the first place.

I remove the grille and use alcohol swabs on it inside and out, sometimes remove the foam and hand wash it.

Won't the spray leave fine droplets on the microphone that can potentially condense or leak into the electronics?
Nice idea, but I personally wouldn't risk spraying with the grille on. I think it's imperative that you remove the grille first.

Nice one!
There are many accessories you can keep in your spares bag, a McVities Chocolate Cake would be mine.
Great vid
