One of the biggest disappointments, in my opinion, is bus service. I've traveled Greyhound in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, this past decade and now this second decade of this new millennium. Buses used to go to small towns and now I have to drive 5 hours round trip to pick someone up from the closest bus station. In 1990 Greyhound had over 4,400 destination, now it is less than half. Walnut Ridge, AR has a train station, but no bus. Go figure! So, I take the train. What's up Greyhound? :(
Do you know that Greyhound charges an $18 fee for 3rd party e-transactions. Over 8,000 people have signed an online petition. Google:
Eliminate the $18 Gift Ticket Fee
for the direct link to the change dot org link.
On 11/21/2011 Greyhound received a very detailed letter from Shawn Ambrose, along with 7,000 signatures, asking Greyhound to eliminate the gift ticket fee. 12/26/2011, Shawn Ambrose hasn't received a response. Ask Greyhound on Facebook why they have not responded.
Anyway, forgive the bitchery. I will not stop using GH because things have not been this bad in the past. But this last time I sure as hell wanted to boycott them. :( I will be using them again this week to see relatives for Thanksgiving. Cheers.
CONT'D....last time I used GH, I was never told to put ANOTHER tag on my bag. The lady at the ticket desk put one on it which had my destination to where I was going and where I was returning. I thought that was sufficient enough. On my trip back home, my bags got left in another city because I did not tag it again. Nor was I told to. The station where I came from didn't even have tags. I went up to one of the employees for help and he was the rudest sob I've ever met and said it was my fault.
The Greyhound Bus line in Memphis, TN SERIOUSLY needs to get its act together. Not only do they have some of the RUDEST, most UNPROFESSIONAL staff and drivers, they do not know how to update new information on their websites (like the recent new location) nor do they ever answer the phone at the ticket desk when you have questions. They either give inaccurate info if any at all. People who don't use GH often are supposed to have ESP and know exactly what to do. They tell you nothing. Idiots.
Im soo excited to travel from Cincinnati to California on one of these!!! :) I hope we get a bus with wifi on it, i heard it comes on all the new buses.
Since the 2009 Prevosts were first to have the seatbelts I do expect more likely all new bus orders will come with seatbelts. As far as the drivers area. I did see the 2009 Prevost X3-45s have USSC driver seats with detachable shoulder straps which I do not recall seeing in use by Greyhound drivers. I believe the MCI DL3s have shoulder straps for drivers but Im not 100% sure. And the D4505s I believe possibly have driver shoulder straps as many D Series coaches have them except commuter coaches.
i hate the fact that Greyhound doesnt let you know which buses are new when you purchase your ticket. im a loyal Boltbus rider but I couldnt find any reasonable tickets for thanksgivin holiday so i tried Greyhound. I thought i would be traveling on the newer buses. the greyhound website advertises the new buses for trips from DC to NYC yet when I got to the station it was one of the really really old buses with ripped up seats. I will stick with Boltbus. Greyhound failed big time!
About the new seat belts installed on passenger seats of the Greyhound buses. Will they be mandatatory for the passengers to use and will seat belts be installed on passenger seats of Megabus and Coach USA buses in the near future?
@jimmyjam537 Seatbelts are not required to wear while on a bus. They have been added as an extra feature for the comfort of our riders. We do not know the status of seatbelt use on coaches run by other companies.
I rode that bus from Buffalo NY to ride was awfull thay saided to have more leg room it is worser that before. The seats were hard as a rock i give it a 4 out of 10 bad
@GoGreyhound hi yo have a good video and great bus i jut to take that buse line from New york city to Springfield .Ma .every week before wen I was living in NY.Ny and i move to holyke.MA. can i have your video if you can send me to me please .let me knw pls.
@josgaleldo Thanks for your support, josgaleldo. We are proud of the bus and this video. We can’t send it to you, but you can watch it on YouTube and our Facebook page. Also, feel free to share the link to this video on either channel.
@straightbaked nope i think you have to be lucky. the new buses are limited. i learned the hard way. im never doing Greyhound again. i thought i was getting one of the new buses but instead i ended up on an old bus with ripped seats and a dirty bathroom! i feel like greyhound needs to step their game up esp. when there is better options like Megabus and Boltbus.
@CMLovejoy They get some government funds, but only for some routes and they arent government owned, they are part of First Group, which is Scottish. I like the new colors and the way they're trying to improve things but respecting the past. Anyway, you can't have everyting that gets government money painted red, white, and blue!
Nice! One of the new ones like this drove passed me going south on the NJTP, a few months ago..Nice to see Greyhound stepping it up..Some of those old buses look like they're gonna tip over driving straight down the interstate..
@FianoAlecia actually they do i live in new Jersey and I see them all around New Jersey/ New york Area. I'm actually gonna take one to West Virginia in a couple of days. I will take a video and show you that your wrong!
this summer we are going outta town and ridding the bus i hope its this one....i really do cause they so called had the new ones last year but we got the old ones...sucked :(

Also the 7 clearance lamps front & back means the coaches is fully visible at night by other road users.

well for those who dont know greyhound will be placing x3 which is what these new coaches are not prevost thats just the company who makes them but our entire fleet will be x3 but greyhound will not get them as fast as we should cuz we have to share with bolt but we will get them soon
Cool. This new paint scheme has the look of a private, custom bus...like it belongs to a music group that's using it for transportation while on tour.
They are missing tv screens on the back of the headrests and electrical outlets for phones and laptops, and also needs table trays like on an airplane.
This new design looks much better than old design gets bored. How does my comment offend you. When a driver tears the side of a bus off because they are not watching the mirrors. Before these buse were painted in the blue, they were white. Why is is that with in 2 weeks of getting the new buses in white that 2 of them had to go to the body shop for repair due to the bus drivers not driving right.

45 footer like the d4500 and other 45 footers.See
the trick is to lower the overall hieght and make
the weelbase further apart than most, therefore eliminating that nasty hunky overhang in the front and
rear. This makes the bus look really lengthy when
actually it's just some minor stat tweaks to improve curb appeal.Nice bus but I'm a MCI D series guy.
