I suppose I ought to thank you first for such great videos. Спасибо!!! With so many bad Russian "lessons" on YouTube you truly are a godsend.
I'm interested in that book that you mentioned at the end of this video. What's its title, if you don't mind? I'm after books in Russian I can use to expand my vocabulary and if that book is relatively easy, I'm game!
@Pinepelt There's a lot of bad language tuition out there, period! There are, on the upside however, a good many good books. If you look on oioioio dot you know what (this is to get round the spam block there is here) you'll see all my recommendations in the second category down (selecting categories from the left hand side.
SO excited to find your lessons. They are extremely useful to me. I just graduated with my B.A in Russian language but there is still SO much that I have left to learn.
Я забыл поблагодарить вам за этот видео - спасибо! Я все понял (хотя после неоднократных видов). I noticed что вы теряете свой акцент во время разговоры - я тоже. лол
The use of "vid" is not quite correct here. Better "prosmotrov". Unless you wanted to say "after multiple aspects/species" in which case, you'd be OK.
Lermontov's most known work, the Hero of our Time, is a great piece, and I think every serious learner should make it one of their first posts of call in the literature.
Oh, I understand that. I however cheat. My wife Maryna is from Uzhgorod and speaks Ukrainian,Russian, Slovakian as well as a few of the other dialects that the area has to offer. You got to love that Transcarpathian region and the Rusyn language they speak. The true meaning of Gods Country. Cheers Patrick
I hope Maryna likes my Russian stuff, also. Some of my viewers are actually not learners, but Russian native speakers getting entertained by watching an Englishman "be" a Russian and teach the Russian language.
Thanks for the lesson, prof., and good work with explaining the irregularity on the мочь conjugation. Almost thought it would be one of those "just memorize it" moments.
I don't believe in forced memorization. There are a couple of videos on this channel about the goldlist method I devised for memory, BTW. Glad you liked the explanation. Almost all irregular verbs in any language can be explained by unravelling the mysteries of philological linguistic history. This one can see from the excellent and leading book of Prof. Dr. Moritz Maria von Igelfeld "Portuguese irregular verbs", which I can thoroughly recommend.
i am from romania, and although romanian is not a slavic language, i think it is easier to lean russian if you are romanian rather than english. how many languages do you speak in total?
Simply "govorit'" is enough. If you say "Vy umeete pogovorit' po-rumun'ski" it means "do you know how to have a little talk in Romanian?" which is not precisely what you wanted to say.
Da, eu vorbesc rumuneste, dar nu foarte bine. Si tu?
Eu sunt roman! I've always been interested in foreign languages and now russian is my latest hobby. Thank you for this opportunity to make some progress.
Sie sind bei mir willkommen! Ich wohne in der Hauptstadt, Sie muessen aber zeitlich bescheid sagen weil ich oft reise...Wenn aber alles klappt, wuerde ich Ihnen gerne Bukarest zeigen...

This must be my favourite lesson thus far. "Maybe some big pyerson is standing in the vay, blocking you vith his hands like this." Nicely done.

What is the name of the song on the intro of this video? Sorry if this has already been asked, and I missed it. Thanks for making these.

Balalayka. I can't remember the artist, but if you read all the comments someone has written it somewhere.

Excellent lesson and song. Many thanks. What was the lively intro music?
By coincidence, my teacher has just suggested Lermontov to me. (I'd never heard of him.)

I've taken it nice and slow, so it should be worth your while reviewing the whole course.

Buna Steluta, esti romanca dar nu locuiesti in Romania, nu? Salutari!

That's what the EU is all about - now Romanians can easily travel to other Member States (but choose America anyway! ;-) )
