  • It is not an electric sarod either. The presentation has been given a wrong and misleading heading of Mohan Veena. This instrument is known as Surshingar. It is a cross between Surbahar and Sarod, with the sound box and the jawahiri bridge of surbabahar (and hence the droning sound) and the fretless fingerboard of sarod. It was invented in the 19th century but was so rarely played that it became almost instinct. It has a glorious bass sound. It is a great pleasure to see it revived by Ghosh

  • I´ve never hear an electric sarod before (or even suspected that such a thing existed), but I must say that the instrument has a charming and beautiful sound.

  • thats an electric sarod, not a mohan veena~!
