I've played for 36 years. Have won many awards. Toured - in which I played for (on average) 25,000 people 3 nights per week across the globe. I know for a fact that I've made more money playing my violin than Heifetz but I will never, never, never, come close to what he was able to do 20, 30, 40 years before my time. Amazing. I will always be in utter awe of him.
For top philosophy of religion & sceptical analysis of Bible & religion try Robert M Price, John W. Loftus, Dan Barker, Victor J. Stenger. For a generation nis name was synonymous with perfection . If someone was great at something they were the Jascha Heifetz of { table tennis , ice skating , or anything } .

Bad gerswin edition. He dunt really play out the true colours of 'JAZZ'. sometimes some music need to be 'jazz' style, he's nt enough.Virtuosic performance,(perfect tune), but the music is somehw not there yet.
There are different schools of teaching with regards to placement of the right arm. Obviously the elbow has to move, it's more a case of how much that's the argument.
my teachers have always told me to keep my elbow still and use it as a hinge. If you need to stretch further, extend your wrist. but just remember- It ain't necessarily so!
What a master! I've had this on LP for many years; this is the first time I've had the pleasure of watching Heifetz perform it. He did the arrangement. Does anyone here know if he knew Gershwin?

Stunning. Brilliant. And at 1:54 it becomes otherworldly. Just under one minute of pure bliss.

I have come to believe that, in my opinion, Heifetz is probably the single greatest musician who has ever walked the earth. Superhuman.

Fantastic interpretation! So many different sounds are born from his violin! Played with gusto, feeling and supreme expertise.

Is this Heifetz's last recital? The one that was televised nationally? Brooks Smith at the piano (I think).

you don't use your elbow when you're performing? the motion comes 'from your upper arm', as i have been reminded, countless numbers of times. 0.0

Heifetz KNEW Gershwin, they were friends ^^
He once asked Gershwin write a violin concerto for him; but poor Gershwin died of brain cancer at 38 before he could... =[
Heifetz arranged many of Gershwin's greatest hits... American in Paris, Summertime, 3 Preludes, Bess you is my woman now, and so on...
Genius... BOTH of them...
