  • I've played for 36 years. Have won many awards. Toured - in which I played for (on average) 25,000 people 3 nights per week across the globe. I know for a fact that I've made more money playing my violin than Heifetz but I will never, never, never, come close to what he was able to do 20, 30, 40 years before my time. Amazing. I will always be in utter awe of him.

  • i love heifetz's tone so much.

  • Oh so beautiful !!

  • 1:21 such a good taste...

  • BRAVÍSIMOOOO!!!!!!

  • Stunning. Brilliant. And at 1:54 it becomes otherworldly. Just under one minute of pure bliss.

  • I have come to believe that, in my opinion, Heifetz is probably the single greatest musician who has ever walked the earth. Superhuman.

  • Perfection.

  • What a small audience. It breaks my heart! </3!

  • God, how I wish I'd met him once...

  • @bergkalis ME2

  • çokkk mükemmel bir muzik ruhun terbiyecisi gibi:)

  • For a generation nis name was synonymous with perfection . If someone was great at something they were the Jascha Heifetz of { table tennis , ice skating , or anything } .

  • seeing heifetz in color makes me more bitter that I didn't get to meet him in life.

  • Wowww ! He plays so well .

Gooood i wish i was as good as him :( :P

I play this song too and i just love it!!!

  • is this 1972?

  • did he do double harmonic on the finishing note?..

  • I think this piece was very aptly named.

  • @kittyluvr12

You just figured that out now, da!

  • Fantastic interpretation! So many different sounds are born from his violin! Played with gusto, feeling and supreme expertise.

  • Is this Heifetz's last recital? The one that was televised nationally? Brooks Smith at the piano (I think).

  • Jes remembah: what you liable to read in the Bible

    It aint necessarily so !

  • you don't use your elbow when you're performing? the motion comes 'from your upper arm', as i have been reminded, countless numbers of times. 0.0

  • There are different schools of teaching with regards to placement of the right arm. Obviously the elbow has to move, it's more a case of how much that's the argument.

  • my teachers have always told me to keep my elbow still and use it as a hinge. If you need to stretch further, extend your wrist. but just remember- It ain't necessarily so!

  • What a master! I've had this on LP for many years; this is the first time I've had the pleasure of watching Heifetz perform it. He did the arrangement. Does anyone here know if he knew Gershwin?

  • Heifetz KNEW Gershwin, they were friends ^^

He once asked Gershwin write a violin concerto for him; but poor Gershwin died of brain cancer at 38 before he could... =[

Heifetz arranged many of Gershwin's greatest hits... American in Paris, Summertime, 3 Preludes, Bess you is my woman now, and so on...

    Genius... BOTH of them...

  • Heifetz did american in paris arr? wow, what a guy, he's one of the few 'masters' right?

  • awesome!

  • Playing this piece at a recital in a few weeks :)

  • mmhh..molto bello..mi è piaciuto moltissimo,soprattutto l'ultima nota.Per non parlare del meraviglioso suono del suo saltellato..

  • King...

  • The best!
