Well, I believe Grisha's picado is as good, as is his overall technique. But Paco not only has the technique, he has the creativity.

I believe that his picado is outstanding but I cant say that its like pacos. Ive seen many of paco videos and have seen the fastest picado that human kind can ever accoplish, with out employing tremelo to play a scale, which is a different technique all together.

I want to see Grisha make his own compositions... so far he is nothing but an extraordinary intrerpretor of repertoire, with awesome technique.

Grisha's picado may be a fraction slower, but arguably a fraction stronger. The sounds are slightly different. Grisha, being a nonspaniard, probably will never be the innovator Paco was, but keep in mind he has a considerable classical repertorire & most classical guitarists incl. Segovia were "nothing but interpretors of repertoire".

@davidleealford Fo Grisha is a good player in terms of technic, but this is flamenco, it´s everythign about expression and compás, about strengh and flamenconess, somethign you can only learn when you live rounded by dancers and singers. Its not about speed, or repertoire. Comparing Grisha woth Paco is like comparing a Hong Kong basketball team with Lakers. Grisha doesn´t play in the NBA of flamenco. There you´ve got Vicente, Sanlucar, Cañizares, N Miguel, D del Morao, PArrilla ..

@HJF091173 ah yes he's a great guitarist, but poor Paco is not gypsy so it's not really flamenco. Diego Gastor said as much so you can't please everyone can you? Wait, some more astute than I said Diego's compas was often off a little (ranch style flamenco). Round and round we go isn't that right? lol.

@davidleealford ... in our land , in Andalucia, it´s not necesary to be a gipsy to be flamenco...and not all gipsies are flamencos...only few of them... It´s something very complex to understand if you´ve not been born there... Greetings.

@HJF091173 yes that's right but not all gypsies will agree just like some Blacks think only they can play the blues. To this argument, I suggest YT-ing "Johnny Winter" + blues", who is an albino! Their jaws drop...Anyway, that which is gypsy in in the grooves of the hand and perhaps the heart. I doubt the DNA. Just my .02.

@davidleealford You have made a very good comparison. I suggest people to see Capullo de Jerez o La piriñaca.Both non gipsies but full of ´blackness´ There´s a very inetersting point. SO many of those gipsies who say that only gipsies can do ´Black´flamenco have ancetors not being flamenco. They´re not able to explain too why only the gispsies of Andalucia sing flamenco and not those of Hungary, or even nothern Spain. Nevertheless I must say that without gipsies flamenco wouldn´t be as it´s.

@davidleealford Also add, that among those being genius in flamenco, the precentage of gipsies is very high...It means they play a k-role in our music... It´s just it doesn´t mean it only belong to them ...ANd from the very roots there was non-gipsy people involved...

People with regular jobs, pursuing education, etc. will rarely be as good as others not going that route, in the right environment and dedicating endless amounts of time. However, there are exceptions.

aver dejemos de discutir por eso y admiremos el arte nadie lleva un cartel en la guitarra que ponga , soy el mejor es solo cuestion de gustos yo personalmente acompañando me quedo con manuel morao , melchor marchena , luis maravillas... pero como guitarrista en cuestion me quedo con paco porque componiendo a mi parecer es el mejor junto a sabicas es como quien es mejor mc sicario o capaz pues no se macho cada uno hace su estilo y los dos son tremendamente buenos bueno un saludo

sicario... lo que pasa es que no has visto a otros tocaores... te vas por lo comercial, escucha una buleria del niño miguel y sabras que paco no es ningun Dios, escucha la musica del gran sabicas y sabras que paco se queda corto, escucha los piques de paco cepero y sabras que paco no es el mas veloz... en fin.

Ademas Paco de Lucia lo dijo una vez: La mejor guitarra de españa es el niño miguel.
