Its a purse seine. Im in the skiff and i holld a hook in the end to hold the fish and the big boat noses up to a cape or to the beach. we hold it for about 30 minutes then close and haul back
alrite, that makes sense. but i was also wondering what u were doing when u actually set the seine, like it it a bar seine or what because i cant see in the video when u meet up with the skiff again?
we wud call that a draft net but on smaller scale

ok...how long?...looks pretty long.the seine we use for capelin is about 80 long and 18 deep. yours seems much longer...200, 250 long?

yeah 250 fathoms long. but we dont purse it all. if i remember right we pursed about 135 fathoms on that particular net

it helps keep the boat from listing. we put about half of the leads on one side then switch to even out the weight.
