The dj at my post-prom back in high school was an ok dj (as in the music stopped completely for about 5 minutes becuase he hit the wrong button or something), but he was wearing some nice clothes, similar to what you're wearing. So, he was an ok DJ that was looking good, which earns a bonus in my book, not some slob kinda dj.
Looking good! I'm a tux wearing DJ myself, and I have to agree with jiblethead88 the tux always gets the utmost respect. Also I find them very comfortable, the shoes, now that's a different story but I've learned to live with it.
I also bring a pair of black tennis shoes. I only use these for loading in & loading out. The reason is that after wearing dress shoes for the whole gig, it's nice to change shoes. Gives your feet a break. Also, these tennis shoes don't stand out because they are black. If they were white, it would draw attention to your feet right away. Black tennis shoes are great for load ins & load outs.
great vid as always. I'm a tuxedo guy. However, I don't overshadow the wedding party because I'm wearing black, with a black vest and black tie (not a bow tie). I figure I should look one notch below the groom.
Good point about looking neat and feeling good. My tux is the most comfortable suit I own - suspenders mean my shirt is always hanging properly.
Another note about the tux, people think I'm in charge. No one argues with the guy in the tux (I'm 6'4", so maybe that helps a bit).
Actually i just did my first job totally in black socks last night, it was a sweet 16 and my shoes got drenched in the downpoor so i just took them off, and i actually worked much better as i was so much more comfotable, and the best part no one cared at all.
At most gigs, I take my shoes off and dance in my socks. Nobody can see my feet when I am DJing as I have an LED Starcloth DJ Booth. When I am leaving the stage or stepping out where people can see thats when I put me shoes back on.
Personally, I think the Dockers "look" appears a little cheap for a wedding. A nice pair of fitted dress pants would look a lot better and more dressed up.
For an event outside a wedding... the Dockers look might work.
Sorry, you just look cheap, common, and ordinary in the Dockers!
Well, your OPPINION is I look Cheap, Common, and Ordinary.
My oppionon is that I do look Common & Ordinary. That's the look I'm going for. I don't want to stand up there & be the center of attention or dress like I'm a member of the Wedding Party. I'm dressed pretty much like the Bride's cousin is dressed.
I feel it's almost empathy with the crowd. It's practical and works for me.
Brian..you are indeed funny, but good points for the mobile guy.
As a club guy I have been wearing black Reebok or New Balance kicks for over 20 years..comfortable and yet I think people are not looking at your feet too much. Go figure...
u look very handsome Brian!(it's okay..i'm a girl, lol) One of my dj lady friends likes to dress to the nines for her gigs. She's pretty wild. She wears colored wigs and depending on the theme she'll wear costumes while she spins. I just want to look nice but feel comfortable. Good Vid!
I'll get right on that, Brian.lol! Back in the day , I rocked the tux look but, I have found the most comfortable and professional thing that I prefer to wear these days, is a dressy/formal suit, something with a bit of glam to it.High heels, erm, bad idea! I have found dressy/shiny mid heel pumps or mary janes work best....most importantly, show your personality with style and class!
Pierre Cardin are really nice. There are other brands here and there I pick up as well. Bottom line is you should try your shirt on and take the arm thing into consideration
Hey Bry, youre kinda right, when I try to DJ by sitting down ... I just mess up my whole mix :P that works maybe only if youre mixing something like "Sound of silence" by Simon n Garfunkel ;)
I have a question: Will you be at the BPM show this year ? Maybe I can be there, I thought I was about to study this month, but as things went, I not sure anymore :P
Would be cool to c ya there ... great job u do ! Carry on ...
Wouw, youre quiete fast in answering comments ^^ didnt xpect that ... and btw, sry for my bad writing, Im kidna drunkt coz I just came home from a birthday party ... I guess you can imagine ;D
Just listening some of my owne mixes, quiet selfish but well, I like the songs I mix haha :)
Whats up over the sea in the US ? Tell me some stuff, I need to get dry lol
Oh I have no idea. This will be my first time in that part of the country as well. My hotel has already been taken care of by someone else so I'll find out where I'm going when I get there
i have laughed a lot, as you showed to adjust a Light. You looked a bit like on a Comercial Show > Oh Brian, look, this is a nice shirt and you can adjust a light with it, but that is not all. That is not all Brian??No Cindy, after adjusting a Light it looks stupid on you. Oh Brian, it can be looking stupid?Yes Cindy but thats not all. It can be wet. Oh Brian, there are so many things what this Shir can do. I love it. Oh yes Cindy.Lol.
Heres a tip for the shrit, some metioned sweet through the shrit, wear an under shrit. It stops all the sweat from going to the dress shrit. Also I wear all black with a white tie. It looks good and sharpe,I love it. Thanks for the video. keep up the good work.Oh yeah I wear Skechers,
i remember way back to my prom, when the DJ was some radio personality they hired, he wore the radio stations t-shirt, now granted; they had a separate Emcee in a tux, but the DJ" still looked way out of place. but even in that situation, can a t-shirt" be ok if it's like a "trademark" for the DJ? ex - Bruce Vilanch always wears t-shirts no matter what?
Good video, I have seen a Dj do a wedding with a t shirt and jeans not good!! I dress like you but without the tie im not a suit person but I will where one if the gig calls for it
great video as always! i just wear shirt, tie and dress pants also. gotta be somewhat confortable. i also carry a pair of confortable shoes in the car for load in and load out. sometimes i kick my shoes off when the guests start too cuz i have to admit i dont have the most confortable shoes to dj in.

I can't wear the shoe brands he mentioned. Unfortunately, there are very few shoe manufacturers that handle EEEE sizes.
New Balance makes some post office rated shoes.
They come in black. They're not the prettiest shoe out there, but they sure help my feet.
What is the name of the "cut" of the second shirt? "Husky"?
Jubal24 3 years ago
Strangly enough, I have a similar problem with shoes. Thing is, my feet are small so it's hard to find shoes at most malls, shoe stores, etc.
hmm I have no idea. It's just the way the shirt is cut. Quality shirts usually have a better quailty taylord cut
