i find it extremely irritating how nbc nit picks the turns, for any country other than the states. but nastia, in almost every beam routine, does the same little "balance check" that she did here, but they never say a word about it. but, to me, it looks just as bad as any other balance check.

Pavlova was robbed of a medal....she wobbled waaaay less than Cheng Fei....Fei's routine was actually rather sloppy.....but she had the "home team advantage"...

she always had a rotton attitude, I understand why she can be upset, but you don't have to be so rotton and mean to the other gymnasts.

I definitely agree that she deserved bronze, but even if she hit the kolesnikova she still should not have beaten Shawn or nastia

@CopGymnast861 Well her SV was 0.3 lower and her wolf jump full turn is very deductible. A picky judge would have decrease the SV. If so, she loses both the sill value and the connexion bonus which could be very very bad. A "normal' judge, though would have taken deduction for the lack of height and the wrong body position. And of course the crossed leg on twisting znd the flexed feet on the sheep jump. Anna would probably lose points on the dismount of course, for the small wobble ...

@CopGymnast861 Nastia looks cleaner, and she is very clean on beam but she had .3 less than Anna. If Anna would have hit, I think she would have challenged Nastia for silver. Anna is also a very clean gymnast when she it. But since the judges did not take the proper deduction for the wolf jump like they should have, I think Nasta would have won the silver whatever Anna did.

@CopGymnast861 ...after the full turn, probably also for the wobble after the Onodi and for a incorect position of the leg on the Omelianchik. They are small deductions but considering the higher SV and nastia's wolf jump, I think Anna would have been silver. She just needed to hit the Kolesnikova :(

@Missnewyork28 no way she would of got silver. Bronze if they didn't overscore cheng fei. Theres just noooo way she could beat nastia with this routine. Even if her start value was higher.

@mortella23 I said "If Anna hit", no mistakes, no missed skills, no missed connexion. In that case, Anna should have been silver. There is only 1.025 between Anna and Nastia and Nastia's A score is not correct, she should have lost the bonus connexion after the wolf jump. So actually with this coutine, she could have challenged Nastia.

bottom line is there were too many gymnasts at the time that were better then her. if she performed this way at the 2004 or even 2000 olympics she would have gotten a gold somewhere, I am sure.

I don't understand why wasn't connecting her front aerial, tucked side somersault, and Kolesnikova here like in Athens. In some of her beam routines in Beijing, it looked like she was attempting to but never connected all three.

@Darkangel127 that is true. my guess is it was a 3 tenth downgrade since she didnt hold the handstand and a tenth for the balance on the handstand on the way down. 15.9 + 4 = 16.3 = gold medal.
