@Ialocin1985 just checked that norronna reacon pack, its to long, you have ahuge compartment at the bottom, the whole thing is to long, the berghuase vulcan has compartment on the front, its simpler and i bet its allot lighter, does the same thing, i trust the vulcan when it comes right down to it.
How you say it's "no frills" Deos this still mean that you have plenty of padding on the back and sides? and how sweaty is your back against this? Are there any systems like"bio fit" which are supposed to assist with airflow?
"No frills" means, that it doesen't have any useless bells, whistles and straps all around.
This ruck is very simple, but very comfortable and stable even with heavy loads. It has plenty of padding on it's back-system, hip-pad and in it's shoulder straps. All surfaces that touches you while you are wearing it, are made with material called "advent", which dries quite quickly.
Speaking as a former Royal Marine, who wheels and deals with predominantly 3 Cdo Bde RM, I can tell you that when fully loaded the PLCE Bergens straps tends to cut into the shoulders. Incidentally if they were that good, Hereford and Poole would use them trust me they dont!!!
Thanks I thought so chap thanks, Ive got two New PLCE Bergens which im looking to sell, long and short backs with 2 side pouches each. wheres the best place to sell u reckon m8? I'll get your Vulcan instead.
I'm thinking about buying karrimor sabre to do Bergen training. Could you tell me Bergen is most similar to the ones the army uses so I can accustom myself because I don't want to buy the standard PLCE issue bergen. Thanks
I have a 135 litre Bergan from 'Web-Tex' nice size, 6 external pouches which are usefull. Its pretty strong, i put about 4 and a half stone in it and it wasnt 'creeking' or anything.Of course- thats alot of weight but its nice to know it can take it!
I had a Berghaus myself for 5 years. It is a realy good backpack. The sidepacks can be zipped of and that is great. The back and shoulder parts are realy good. Nowadays i have a Lowe Apline Saracen. The one that is the best you have to find out for yourself.
Could you do a vid comparing the vulcan with the crusader?
