Japan Robins Vs American dream in final playing the 2nd player so as to have the rock music when somebody is on the 3rd base.... damn nostalgia that was great!!!
I used to love this! I always remember seeing it in the departure lounge at Manchester Airport and always pestering my mum for 50p so I could have a game on it. And that noise when the baseball went in the air. It was addicitive!
@Laker1011 I love the Japan Robins, too! My batting order is: 1. Toyota, 2. Suzuki, 3. Honda, 4. Kagemura, 5. Oh, 6. Tokoro, 7. Nagashima, 8. Mori, 9. Kamikaze. I do a lot of bunting with Suzuki and often Toyota and Tokoro. Did you know that in Tournament, when you get to Game 3 or 4, Ninja Blacksox has you very powered up?
Did you know that the music has words? "Make Selection, choose between a Vs. and a Tournament, Cause in Vs. mode you start up and you play just one quick game. Tournaments take much longer, Cause you start with 16 teams, narrowing all the teams down and down, till you're left with just one."
Well the tournament is up to 16 teams so no matter how you slice it you have some teams that will be CPU-CPU, if you choose the option that is highlighted, it will speed it through. I own the American game on a Japanese AES so it converts back, however it wont affect any gameplay, I play it on AES save it to my memory card then play it on the MVS and continue on in English :)
@RoboArmyInMonsterLnd Robo, did you get this resolved? I bought mine about a year ago, and fortunately have the USA version. Funny that in the manual, some of the team names are half-Japanese (like Tensai Brains instead of Creative Brains).
@JLW2490 Yeah! I've always seemed to love sports video games, and my early interests were boxing games, people thought I liked fighting; so did I. It's just that my favorite GAMES were boxing/street fighting. I wasn't much of a baseball fan (real or video game) growing up, but the NES AND Neo Geo Baseball Stars got me very into it! The MUSIC of both really turned me on.
@JLW2490 Same with me! I was a basketball fan for the most part, but the NES version of Baseball Stars got me into it, because I could name my players and teams. Then, I played this Neo Geo version in the arcade. I'm 38 now. I bought a Neo Geo two years ago just for this game. I live in Seattle, we lost our NBA team, and I gravitated towards baseball, so I appreciate this game even more.
@drunkensailor112 You know,I never got deep into Baseball Stars 2. I believe you that it's good. Is that the one where players can turn into "robots" for certain at bats? That's one distinctive feature that I remember.

I always thought Baseball was for ladies. Softball, Baseball, same thing.

What a ridiculous game. Shouldn't those ladies be inside preparing food and drink for the men?

I once beat the computer 18 to 0. I scored 9 runs in the final inning. I always played as the "American Dreams". Such memories.

Great video Merlin. This game was pretty good for a launch title for the Neo Geo. The Baseball Star games are awesome.
