  • We build chip city!

  • im having a mork from ork moment here

  • i love when everything was this good

  • I hope that job site has good insurance policys.

  • thumps up when you watching this in 2011

  • @ManBugi now thumps up when you watching this in 2012 ;)

  • Martika could always make a song her own. This is no exception. Yes, we're talking about a 15 year old girl, but she nails it! A great performer and an even better recording artist, Martika WAS Kids, Incorporated, and dominated most scenes she was in, whether it was singing, dancing or acting. Her 1st new album in 20 years, "The Mirror Ball", is scheduled for a 2012 release! Check out martikamartikadotcom. Back and better than ever!! Viva Martika! Twitter & Facebook!

  • @kalamaty i know i quit watching when she left so i agree whole heartedly

  • They could have done better with this song. The tempo was a bit slow, and some of the singing was a bit off key.

  • fergie pre-methface

  • Futuristic Communist synthpop

  • Those kids are reckless with hammers.

  • What's with the Mork costumes ??

  • @rudestboy420 trendy...bring it back to 2011 lol

  • I love the 80s but i was born in 1999 wish i was born in the 80s yea i would old by now but its look so fun the be and 80s kid, so now i act like one, dress like one, talk like one, sing like one and do everything hat kids used to do in the 80s

people just think i am wierd though!!

  • Just hd a arguement with my ex-brother in law about Fergie being a Disney star or a Nicolodian star. Of coursse two men in their 40's arguing about a 80.s 90's show that was entertaining but to young for us is odd. He insisted that Kids Inc was a Nicolodian show, Then I remembered this video, and I won. Yes that slut Fergie was sweet little Stacy.

  • I just called the number to subscribe....no one answered.

  • 38 people didn´t built this city on rock n roll

  • uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. . .

  • Is it me or do those costumes look like Mork's outfit from Mork and Mindy?

  • just this heard this song 2 hours ago on 90.0FM from singapore!

  • NO disrepect for the video.... it was what it was... but, the vocals are something to reconsider. I ask everyone who watches this to take a clean listen to the cover. Martika's vocals are AMAZING! No one is lookin for a copy, and that's not what she's doing.... but, WOW! Brilliant from a little known artist who always seems to fly under the radar... no idea why! ?

  • hmm, it seems 35 people left this city...

  • It's easy to sneer at how bad this is in hindsight, and talk about how misplaced nostalgia for the '80s is, when it encompasses garbage like this. It's easy and essential -- keep it up, cynics!

  • Did they go shopping at the Klaus Nomi store in the Santa department?

  • Thumbs up if u wanted to watch this after watching MysteryGuitarMan

  • 35 people didnt build this city with us

  • this is kind of bad

  • I liked up until the part where they started singing.

  • Back when Disney was a pay movie channel. Now you get it with basic cable. Maybe that's whats wrong with Disney now.

  • @lormahoykyd2007 mo its Hannah Montana! Disney had gold in the 80's and the early 90's.

  • I don't get this vid. You have no idea what they're trying to build, there's no reason for them to be doing flips (major health risk on a real construction site), the jumping sound effects aren't needed, and some poses have no meaning (like the 2 kids holding items at 0:43 & the girl at 1:49). Well, at least the singing isn't bad.

  • @TripleMP3 lol i loved the comment. there truly is no reasonable explanation to do backflips on a construction site ;D

It seems like they are trying to build a minature sewer system. I guess backflips are ok in the sewers.

  • @TripleMP3 LOL! "there's no reason for them to be doing flips (major health risk on a real construction site)"

  • Comment removed

  • I was i so in love with martika in 1985, the costumes from the original V sereies are funny. same era.

  • I was i so in love with martika in 1985

  • are they from Ork ? if they are they make mork happy

  • we built this city..we built...on a sink hole...WE BUILT THIS CITY...

  • "to subscribe call 1-800-847-9000" XD....

  • fuckin hate little kids

  • Starship: An old "always-trying-to-be-contemporary" band with Haight-Ashbury roots, going through another evolution (Jefferson Airplane->Jefferson Starship->Starship)

Kids Inc.: A way for kids to hear current Top-40 songs cleansed of any imagery parents might object to.

The song: A reference to how bands like Starship help make 'Cisco what it is.

The uniforms: A acknowledging-nod to the band that made the song (Starship... Space-age uniforms).

I feel I've said enough already... now dig-it!

  • Thats Shit rocks it out dude!

    Awesome!

  • Where the hell was Mario Lopez, I did not see him!

  • NO!! NONONONONONONO!!!!!!!!!

ITS LIKE JUSTIN BIEBER AND KIDS BOP JOINED FORCES TO DESTROY

THE BEST SONGS FROM THE 80'S!!!!!!

  • @gamecatcher99

no, unlike kids bop and justin bieber, these kids actually had talent without studio help. ever hear of fergie? martika? jennifer love hewitt? this was them in their early days.

and by the way, if you think this is the best song from the 80s, you have a lot of listening to do

  • @MrPunkrocker39 true they have more talent than kids bop. and i din't know Fergie was with them, and i don't think that its the BEST song, its a good one and an instant classic. i think that Corey Hart and Jackson Browne are

the best! ( but this vid is corney!)

  • I've seen comments comparing this to Kids Bop... While I can see that, I would say what they did on this show is more akin to Glee! now. This was a different generation. These early seasons are my favorite because that's when I was a kid. I didn't like the later casts in the early 90's, but I had grown out of the show and I think the times changed and the show had run its course - just like MMC had run its course by that time.

  • Great cover! :-)

  • Long live Jefferson Starship

  • Boing!!

  • hmm it sounds like ryans lipsyncing? or is it just the video

  • @howardkevinm all the music vids were lipsynced. But it was their singing.

  • i gotta get this as a ring tone.......

  • that's cool.

  • I want to subscribe =P

  • Does this number still work? Ha, ha, ha... Classic Disney Channel...

  • This was my favorite episode... : )

  • this was a good cover gloria and ryan did it very well

  • @SuperShow23

i very agree their was a other song that Gloria and Ryan did super good was step by step that was in rock in the new year

  • lol.....Love the boing noises!

  • I loved this show when I was a kid!

  • This sounds pretty good to me :D

  • This cast consistently delivered every pop tune they had to cover, and they did it brilliantly! So many people talk smack, but it's amazing to me how this small group of pre(teens) gets so much attention! Could it be because they are AWESOME!? Kids Inc filled a niche at the time and each one of the cast (both singing and dancing) was awesome in their own right! The mix of all of them is what made the show so colorful & memorable to those of us who grew up on it! DVD's PLEASE, DISNEY!

  • Kids Inc. remains Disney Channels longest running series at 8yrs. everyone who was a kid in the 80s grew up watchin them. most of them are way popular now. Fergie is the blood hair girl

  • actually it went for nine

  • yes u r correct. 1984-1993. thanks for correction

  • @bijibadness. Its a children's show and its from the 1980s so its down with the times.

Most kids shows seem corny when you age, but Kids Inc was the Shiznit back than on Disney. This is my childhood here. Memories.

  • Wow I guess I'm the only one who loved growing up on Kids Inc. Wasn't expecting the negatives. Oh Well.

  • Watching this I am proving my age

  • I've started a petition to release every season of this show on DVD. you can find the url on my channel page, since I can't post it here. Just trying to get the word out!

  • The only 2 I saw do backflips was Wendy and Mario. Wendy did the one at 0.33 Stacy never did one in this video.

  • That guy is NOT a good singer. I'm sorry, but he isn't. He sounds tone deaf.

  • Fergie and Mario Lopez both did their own backflips in this video..how cool is that?

  • No they didn't, the guy that did the back flip was the other male dancer.

  • I actually used to like his as a kid....And still do....Something cool from my childhood to share with my own children....

Just for the record, though.....Is it just me, or do the outfits they are decked out in scream "Nanoo nanoo!"???? Seriously.... reminds me of Mork And Mindy!!!!!

  • i know right!!

  • way 2 fuck up a good song u lil fuckers

  • ROFL!

  • good song?

  • an ok song but still a classic

  • better than Kidz Bop...stfu

  • true

  • I MISS THIS SHOW!! I still know the theme song. I just found that out.

  • Quality tv that you will never see again.........

  • Come on guys...for what it was intended for, this show was fantastic...and produced 2 A0list and one B-list star. The kids were talented and fun to watch...They may have not been as good as the bands who made these songs famous, but I'd rather have them in my band than 90% of ya'll....

  • Ouch - why are they on the wrong note?

  • I freaking loved this show growing up. Yes, it's cheesy and quirky...it wasn't meant to be serious. It was for Kids...and I still think there were amazing singers on the show.

  • @CamuiSheila

VERY WELL SAID! I loved your comment! People forget that it was made for kids to watch, and now everyone is a music critic because the cast is all grown up! Let's remember it's audience, people! These kids were AMAZING singers and had great chemistry as a whole. It's probably shocking to them that so many people are coming out of the woodwork and critiquing them 25 years after the fact!!

  • This video made more sense than the original.

  • Good song turned to shit.

  • I think this would have been cool but when they added the sound affects it lost it's charm. It's sort of like if you took Starships version and then added fart sounds to it : )

  • Fail, wow fail.

  • Correction: EPIC Fail

  • i agree.

  • i love how kids incorporate absolutly ruin every song there is this has nothin to do with wut it really is about

  • OMG I remember watching this show when I was younger...whoa...how time flies...

  • OMG Wendy is so awesome I wish I could dance like her.

  • I wonder how much this pissed Grace Slick off, if she ever saw it. I mean, Martika and Ryan have great vocals, but I don't think Grace and the rest of the band meant for a bunch of Disney kids to cover their song, you know?

  • this is how i remember stacey fergueson before she became fergie.. after ofcourse Wild Orchid.. I miss the 90's..lol

  • I LOVE IT

  • ur a complete idiot.

  • it was a cover originated by the band Starship, a band i'm now obsessed with lol

  • lol 0:45... Remember when Disney channel was an add-on? They would play Avonlea ;)

  • @missalissao Yeah...I remember that show, and the Anne of Green Gables mini series they did

  • this show scared me

  • I feel so F-ing old...

  • mario lopez said he had no dnacing experiance when he was young

    pssh

  • LMFAO at the sound effect at :28

  • I love this song. Blender Magazine and VH1 can both go finger bang themselves.

  • @quiktymevideo A-men!!

  • Dammit, how the hell did Mork get to the cloning machine? xD

  • they look like the visitor youth from v - by way of a bedazzler gun...

  • dude. I was thinking the same thing. this looks like an episode fo V gone horribly awry

  • what was the girls name with the short dark hair thats sanging?

  • Marta Marrero, better known as Martika.

  • Loved Martika on Toy Soldiers, very unique voice. Didn't know she was from KI, so nice one!

  • You can goof on this if you didn't grow up with it, but the kids did have real talent and weren't the corporate prostitots that Disney and Nickelodeon churn out now. They were professionals and to my memory during their run on the series there just wasn't the now-typical bad press like family in-fighting, D.U.I.s, drug busts, plastic surgery, creepy photo shoots, and all the other sluttony that seems to surround the over-the-hill tween stars now. It was a big deal that Ryan had an earring.

  • ryan had a earring? never noticed lol

  • Yeah, to tell you the truth, i hate how almost all kids now days like that new disney crap. Im 14 and to me 60's- early 90's are the best music years.

  • Defiantly That and some new music is good.

    Im 15 btw

  • nice. same here

  • @Serifice what are you talking about their all fucked up rashaan and ryan got busted raping a japanese tourist behind the tea cups why do you think they got cut from the show

  • Their sounds and versions might of been whack, but they sure had great dance coreography.

  • omg what were we smoking back in '86???

  • This is a fake version. It left out the DJ talking about San Francisco in the middle of the song. Fraud!!

  • @titan0723 The 'Cisco reference was a nod to the band's Haight-Ashbury roots... So stop with the sex-references!

  • My ass makes that SAME sound when hit with a wrench.

  • The song was bad enough as it is. Add some pubescent kids and Hannah-Barbera sound effects and we got quite the music video here!

  • gonna date myself here but um cant they get sued by mork from ork for wearing those outfits.

  • Fosho- You, me, Fergie, Lacy, Mork, Mindy- we built this city.

  • if you're able to sit through more than 10 seconds of this video, you are either masochistic or just seriously fucked in the head.

  • hey, lol - you say it like it's a bad thing.

what happened to pure, fun, light-hearted music?

  • I'am the last one, but it doesn't have anything to do with this video

  • I forgot all about this show, Ha. Classic.

  • This is horrible, what are you people talking about?

  • don't forget it's from 1986-1993. This was a HIT back then!

  • horrible? where are you living? in the twilight zone? i can´t believe I have to read this.

  • Yeah it is horrible, I'm all for music from the 80's and I loved the version by Starship, but this just hurts my ears.

  • I like this one!

  • anyone notice that one of the dancers is Mario Lopez???

  • This group has better vocals than the original band. If we could get the Kids Inc vocals together with the Starship band - and forego the atrocious sound effects - we'd have a legendary performance.

  • Dope Mork and Mindy outfits

  • ah! the days when the Disney channel wasn't part of basic cable...I remember the free preview weekends. :D

What a great clip-for a great (and very 80's) show! Kids, Inc was clean, good fun! I really loved this show when I was a kid!

  • I actually remember watching this show before it was on the Disney channel and being bummed for not having the DC when it went to Disney. I was glad to finally have DC and watched it every day after school along with the MMC

  • yeah this is when disney was good.

  • Powwow23, I agree even in the past 4 years or so Disney's best shows were replaced with not as great shows. They are not as good as they used to be.

  • Is 'STACY 'Fergie' FERGUSON' feautured in this video? Love those 'MORK from ORK' costumes!!! If I'm not mistaken JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT was also part of this show, but that wasn't til late 80's early 90's

  • Yes she's in this one she's the cute blonde girl if you pause the video at 0:40 seconds there'll you'll see her :)

  • to think I used to think KIDS INC was cool. To think we used to dress like this.

  • now i wasnt born in the eighties but is just plain scary

  • I was born in the 70s and it was just as stupid then as it is now.Kids INC are reknown for bastardizing good songs.

  • Kids Incorporated had alot of future stars on its cast...Fergie (Stacy Ferguson), Martika ("Toy Soldiers"), Renee Sands (Wild Orchid), Rahsaan Patterson, Eric Balfour (24), Jennifer Love Hewitt, who was credited simply as "Love Hewitt".

  • @SteveChevy93 J. Love was a Disney product? NO-WAY!! Geez, no-wonder she seems so plastic!

  • these guys stink, hit the showers kids!!!!1

  • this song isint of them they sing it on the bad manuare

  • ...are you speaking English?

...are you speaking a language at all?

  • ya iam dutch i dont no this was a show srry but in dont really like how they sing it

  • no dutch

  • hahaha so 80's

  • Awesome cover! The outfits are so corny 80s though. Thanks for posting!

  • fergie was in there and still is in the vid. Her name was stacy ferguson. She was only 9 or 10

  • HOLY COW! I havent seen this show in around 10 years! Used to be a fav of mine. The video is awesome. Thanks for the trip down memory lane :)

  • holy shit i rember this show! thanks for the post!!

  • funny sound effects!

    blah!!! i like it!

  • Oh God this sound effects are shitty as hell.

  • oh my...

  • great song
