  • @BustersTexas and the wcw brought in vince russo because the company was tanking. wcw was so great in 1999 that it let jericho, benoit, guerrero, malenko and saturn just walk out... it took you 5 months to reply and you still couldnt come up with anything that made sense. way to prove me wrong... if what i said is stupid then your reply there is no word for.

  • @BustersTexas its funny how you say "wwf is now is a bunch a shit a warn out bunch a hasbneds who all wrestle the same people that they wrestled 10yrs ago" when that what wcw was for a long time. you mind telling me how many or who are has beens in the wwe?

  • Big Show in WcW was awesome!

  • Ric flair is washed up

  • They really made Sting look like Superman here by taking out 5-6 NWO guys including Savage without the baseball bat.

  • THE NITRO GIRLS mmmmm. I still have a 1997 calander of them. lol

  • Raaaawww slam!!, holy shit did he just Henning Plex The Gaint to bad it got upstaged by Stings appearance

  • Giant > Mr Perfect

  • @MrColtini

    Not a chance.

  • BIG SHOW!!

  • curt henning perfect plex(henning plex) on the giant? OMG!!!!!!!

  • I was there that night. Worcester Centrum.

  • I was sure that the Giant would block the Perfectplex or get lifted an inch, at most. That was one of the most impressive feats I've ever seen. It looks like it should be impossible.

  • @spinemelter2000 Not only that Giant in WCW doing a kip up. Giant and most big guys in WWF are bread to be slow and boring.

  • Jesus Mr. Perfect is definetly one person who DID NOT take sterioids....Reason I say is because and anyone who has somewhat of a knowledge on how steriods work knows they can deplete muscle and energy over a period of time hence if he were using them. there is no way he would have been able to Perfect Plex The Giant

  • That Perfectplex really puts Henning on a higher level then he already was on.

  • 6:00 Holy Shit.

  • This match was ten times better than their match on raw in 2002 RIP Mr Perfect

  • I loved the nitro girls

  • Curt delivering the Perfectplex on the Giant aka Big Show was incredible.

  • I find it funny that everyone is talking about business and not talking about the awesome match you just saw

    Yeah...Giant did a nip-up...THAT! JUST! HAPPENED!

  • I agree. Wrestling is now about how charismatic you are on the microphone, not how good you are in the ring. I also like your business analogy. But as a business owner, you always have to have a contigency plan for the future. And now, there is no WCW. The money was great in the beginning, but it doesn't last forever. Meanwhile, Eddie, Benoit, and Jericho all jumped ship and had successful careers of their own. Careers they could've had with WCW and maybe Nitro would still be around today.

  • @dan51978

WCW did make mistakes by not pushing guys like that. Though they did push younger guys like Booker T and Goldberg.

I just can't blame WCW's failure on one person. Their company was an extreme case of boom and bust.

Anyone that says Eric Bischoff killed WCW would be a hypocrite because I ask, why are you watching this video?

I stand by that Eddie, Jericho and Benoit were made in WCW. Eddie and Benoit were only given the belt when more exciting and talented wrestlers left the WWF.

  • @Twissovski

Great example. How did guys like Jericho and Eddie feel after all their hard work, to watch a way below average performer like Goldberg jump over them and get the World Title in just over half a year? And Goldberg had the charisma of a dish towel and couldn't work a match or sell a move, and he botched more than Mongo McMichael. I disagree with your last statement though. There were plenty of great wrestlers when Jericho, Eddie, and Benoit won their titles.

  • @dan51978

Goldberg was simply better. He got a bigger reaction, had more intensity, drew ratings, had big moves and WAS charsmatic in the ring. You and all these other work-rate marks are missing the point and know nothing about wrestling.

The "fake" wrestling we know now was created for entertainment and not because someone thought "hmm, I want to see these guys wrestle hard just so that me and a few others can get hard over their work-rate"

  • @Twissovski

Ahh, I get it now. You're the bandwagoner. If it's hot at the moment, you get tingly in the panties. I know you're type. But, you're blind, saying Goldberg had any charisma at all. He stood there, roared a couple times, spear and done. He was a big-body who was dressed to look like Stonecold and everyone jumped on the bandwagon. Obviously you too. You should watch The Rise and Fall of WCW, you'll learn a lot about how WCW fucked themselves.

  • @dan51978

The rise and fall WCW DVD is complete bs. Its just WWEs chance to discredit any success WCW had. Basing your knowledge of WCW on a DVD proves that YOU have no knowledge about wrestling.

At the time, I wasnt a fan of Goldberg but I understand his why he was so successful. Your right, he was a 'big-body' who roared a couple times, spears someone and finished because thats what worked for him, the company and the fans.

This conversation isnt over. You'll want the last word...

  • @Twissovski

Did you watch the rise and fall of WCW? I own it. They talk about the Nitro where Goldberg beat Hogan. They blew a chance at millions of dollars they would have made on a PPV. Or Halloween Havoc that cut off as Goldberg/DDP match started? They lost millions that had to be refunded. These are contributing factors. Match up the time line. Nash laid down for Hogan, WWF won the ratings. Everyone got sick of the NWO. It was a poorly run company. Too much NWO, not enough everyone else.

  • @Twissovski

And I go back to my first posting to you. WCW had nothing after the NWO. Look at how WWF/WWE created successful characters out of Eddie Guerrero and Chris Jericho. Bischoff never even let these guys have a mic in their hand. It's not just work-rate. It's innovation. It's being successful not just now, but in the future. And WCW never had a future. The NWO angle lasted 5 years. That's ridiculous. No wonder WCW only sold for a total worth of $6 million.

  • @dan51978

    I've proven my point....

  • @Twissovski

    And that point is?

  • @Twissovski

Sorry but I prefer to discuss wrestling with people who at least have some intelligence and knowledge about it. Your references to Goldberg and your reasoning behind why Jericho, Benoit, and Guerrero won their titles just proves you don't know as much as you claim. In fact, you OBVIOUSLY know NOTHING about wrestling. This conversation's over. I won't be responding to anything you have to say and I appreciate it if you did the same. Move on with your life.

  • WCW was awesome man this segment with Sting was AWESOME !!

  • Mr. Perfect was a great wrestler. He can make any wrestler look good. You are surely missed....

  • 6:47 Buff: "Durr! No!!!! Run Away from the headbutt!"

  • @facepaintedlegend They didn't pay him enough to take a headbutt lol

  • Nobody can sell a move like Kurt, he'd even make stubbing his toe seem like bring tortured by a demon.

  • @Nackers69 totally agree....

  • dude giant was incredibly agile, i swear he moved like a man a 1/4 his size. i heard he was doing moonsaults in training, and dropkicks

  • Hey wasn't Stacy Keibler one of those Nitro Girls at the beginning?

  • @tehCrazian No. She didnt join the nitro girls till 99.

  • THE GI-HANT!

  • Comment removed

  • Kurt Hennig was incredibly strong, wow!!!

  • Curt Henning deserved to win after flipping the Giant like that, I mean come on now he's just a normal guy flipping a 7 foot 500 pound dude. That was the best thing I ever seen in wresting.

  • @flipfloppingnob It's Hennig, not Henning.

  • Man I love seeing these classic moments of WCW. Really brings back some great memories. Thanks so much for posting.

  • Hennig could have overthrew the nWo if WCW ever actually thought about the wrestlers that they had

  • Man Sting was awesome then, and look how agile the Giant was too! And you can't say enough about how great Henning was. These were some great years for wrestling.

  • What's more amazing, The PerfectPlex, or the Giant kipup?

  • One point for an escape.....? Um I'm pretty sure it's two for a completed escape, and one for an escape attempt that ends up in another hold....

  • @BoiseState8099 Me too.

  • Holy Shit!!! He didn't just perfectplexed him! He lifted him straight up 5 feet from the ground!!! Hennig is a Legend.

  • I still can't believe that Hennig deadlift Perfectplexed The Giant. Even though Giant was probably between 400-450 at the time (instead of the announced 500), that is an incredible feat of strength.

  • hennig's entrance is awesome

  • look at this crowd, it's crazy... the ring is full of trash in the end... crowd isn't involved at all in today's wrestling... damn i hate vince

  • Man this would had been a b-day present.....if i was 12....But im 10 XD I love wrestling it's the best sport(In my opinion)

  • I love that the Giant came out to no music

  • wow Hennig did the perfect plex on the giant he did it like a dead left to then the giant did that jump up was pretty kool even know he grabbed the rope

  • Holy smoke! 6:06. Holy! Hennig was the man!

  • hennig was the pro THE pro i mean it rip perfect body

  • i luv this match mainly cuz of the perfect plex n that kip up is just mad i'm pretty sure this is the night after fall brawl 97

  • this match happend 26 days befor i got born :)

  • @WraxxN holy shit does that make me feel old.

  • @WraxxN when was this match ?

  • @arrafatter September 29, 1997 my birthday is november 25 1997

  • @WraxxN lol same day as my friend

  • @arrafatter Then ur friend is very cool

  • @WraxxN and 1 month

  • Now THAT is gripping TV!

  • That PerfectPlex was BEAUTIFUL.

  • Best Perfect Plex I have ever seen and a picture perfect kip up. They don't make em like that anymore.

  • At 6:24 it proves how athletic Paul Wright (The Giant/Big Show) was...c'mon...you don't se often a giant almost 500 lbs. (aprox 200 Kg), standing at 7.1 tall...now that's what I call Impressive...If I'm not wrong...this is the only time he did a complete Kick-Up...maybe he used the apron as support...but still...

    B - Best

    I - Incredible

    G - Giant

    S - Super

    H - Height

    W - What's

    O - Outstanding

(If you like it Copy and Paste)

  • @EndyMcDonald He did it a few times in WWF around when he won the title the first time!

  • Between that Plex and the Kip Up, this video has gone beyond epic and is now officially LEGENDARY.

  • @JimRival Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • i had the same hair as hennig as a kid only it was black

  • at 6:02 now thats Perfect

  • scotty steiner executed a steinerplex back in 1996

  • This Shit was COOL!!!! Lets review... the AWESOME perfect plex on the giant/big show... classic nwo interference... sting comes in and cleans house... oh and fans throwing shit into the ring?!?! damn i miss this stuff was better back then. RIP Perfect

  • man the wcw crowd used to errupt so crazy like! good ole times

  • Henning was the biggest overselling clown to ever wrestle. Good to watch though.

    RIP Curt.

  • Paul Wight is the greatest giant in pro wrestling history for sheer skill...

  • No doubt... he is one of those rare giants that don't look or talk like they're mentally challenged

  • Hennig was the Man!

  • Hennig ruled. I was pleasantly surprised the Giant ain't take the belt off him here. That Hennigplex on the big man was insane. 1st guy to suplex him and Hennig wasn't even a power wrestler

  • Curt Hennig was very much a power wrestler...

  • lol you'd get a point for that in the Olympics

  • kip up!

  • Uh oh goodbye. what do you mean? Goodbye. Pwahahuh

  • the giant used the rope to flip up like that, i never noticed that when i originally watched the show, still impressive, but not as impressive as if he would have done it the conventional way, which i dont think he could have.

  • WWE leads us to believe that WCW was a shit, messed up promotion that did nothing to help younger stars with terrible booking.

WCW had the cruiserweight division, enough said. Also a world class mid card. Guys like jericho, Rey, Eddie would have never made it in WWE if it wasnt for their exposure in WCW, giving us world class matches. The main events were great even when they had celebs, overall WCW was and is the best we will ever see in pro wrestling.

  • Amen!!!

  • No, the WWE does lead anyone to believe that they were a shitty company; they just place great emphasis on it's failures. Never mind that WCW almost killed the WWE at one point.

  • WWF was never in any real danger. The WWE dramatizes the events between 1995-2001. WCW won in the ratings often times by a small margine but managed to gain the lead because their product was better. By giving away great TV they didnt do so well in PPV buyrates.

By saying WCW was killing WWE would be like saying Coke is killing Pepsi. Yeah ok different types of business before you point out.

    PS WCW4Life

  • (Claps in applause)

  • also wwe are still using there pay per views and titles. like great american bash and united states title

  • Plus, people always whine about how Hogan and friends held down talent. Now, that may of been true or semi-true, but Hogan himself along with the NWO were still very credible at the time with alot left to give to wrestling, as obvious because fans were tuning into Nitro every week because they were interested. Overall, it was a solid undercard with a solid main event scene for the most part. The announcers like Schiavone, Heenan, Zybysco, and Tenay as a third string man were also great

  • @Twissovski

All of those guys came from ECW and ALL of those guys complained how they weren't pushed enough in WCW. You're right, they had an excellent mid-card, but a terrible main event card. Even Bischoff agreed that WWE had better main events.

During the Monday Night Wars, WWE pushed a lot of the young guys like the Hardys and Edge +Christian and their upcoming superstars such as Triple H, Steve Austin and The Rock. By the time WCW tried to push guys, it was way too late.

    R.I.P Henning.

  • @Twissovski I agree. truth was that WWF/E will bury anything that isn't theirs. The truth is, if you see what they did from 1999-2002 during the attitude era, it isn't anything different from what WCW did from 1996-98.

  • @Twissovski A lot of people forget AJ Styles was in WCW back around 2000 or so. He went by "Air Styles" lol.

  • @Twissovski

I must disagree...talented people like Eddie, Jericho and Benoit were stuck in WCW because they would never let Hogan, Savage, & Outsiders take a back seat to anyone. Watch these episodes in full, and count the amount of time in a 2 hr period that was dedicated to Hogan and the NWO. Some mid-card matches involving Eddie and Jericho were shorter than Hogan's interviews and even some of the NWO's entrances. WCW was a shit promotion because they had NOTHING after the NWO. NOTHING.

  • @dan51978

Don't get me wrong but the likes of Eddie, Jericho and Benoit were awesome but Hogan, Savage and the NWO were better and in some ways Hogan is still better.

Lets say your a business man. You have these younger guys that can put on amazing "technical" matches. Then you have Hogan etc who can take a shit in the middle of the ring and get 20x the reaction these younger guys.

Wrestling isn't about how good technically you are. There are other factors, which is why Hogan is the best.

  • @Twissovski THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I been saying it for years. If Bishcoff didn't bring these guys on their show on mainstream TV Vince wouldn't of looked twice at them. They even had great main event matches on TV like the one we're watching now.

  • @Twissovski u do realize the wwe put out a video called the RISE and fall of wcw. they never speak negatively about wcw, n fact they still show there matches on vintage collection. wcw was great for 2 years, subpar the next 1 and was terrible the following 2 years.

as for the celebs comment, um david arquette (they gave him the strap), jay leno? the only entertaining one i cant remember was malone/rodman.

  • @Twissovski In the late 90s, WCW had a great undercard but a repetitive aged uppercard. WWF had a good uppercard, but their lower card was a mess and they could never put together a good cruiserweight division (on the rare occasion they tried).

  • @Twissovski truth be told they had more raw talent guys then wwf at that time

  • Yeah, but he worked a lot harder in WCW too, over the years, he's become LAZY in the ring

  • then the giant kicks out and up on his feet!

  • WcW rules

  • you can see here how the big show was slightly puttin on the weight

  • ya but he cant help it he has a giant disease it just happens

  • Sting Cleans House and NWO runs like mouses!!

  • 6:27 <---HOLY SHIT

not that many wrestlers can do that!!! and he did it...!!!!!!!

shit i miss the hell out of WCW

  • Paul Wight is the greatest giant in the history of professional wrestling...

look how he kicked out of the perfectpussyplex and went from back to feet in a second...

  • At the time, but since going WWE he's just gotten fat & lazy...

He was a beast back then....Couldnt even tell it was the same guy if you didnt know better

  • The Giant's hand is so big!

  • Not NWO TIME it's STINGER TIME!!! He Cleaned House Cause STING is GANGSTA!!!!

  • lol sting is like the police haha

  • I hear the Giant was fighting Shaquille O'Niel tonight....

    No really.

  • Shaq is a legit 7 foot 2 and he towered over Show. I would say Show is a legit 6 foot 11, but 7 foot 4? Hahahahahaha

  • shaw didnt TOWER over show, he was MAYBE a half inch taller than him.

  • True, maybe the wrong word. But when he was in WCW wasn't it ridiculous to label him as 7 foot 4?

  • it was believable at first when he was actually in shape and jacked... but when he became a fat ass his real height came to light

  • is the giant the big show?

  • yes he is

  • One of 2 most impressive moves I've ever seen, and neither one led to a pinfall. The other was Lesnar's superplex on Wight that destroyed the ring. If anyone hasn't seen that, go watch now!

  • HAHAHA, Buff selling nothing at 6:49

  • Years they became World Champions:

    Curt Hennig (1987, AWA Title)

    The Giant (1995, WCW Title).

  • wcw was wrestling. now that its dead half the world dosent look at wrestling anymore. it was the shit

  • very true my friend. wcw was wrestling.

  • how the hell does the belt knock out the giant? lol its a belt!! wtf

  • Might be the best execution of a finishing move ever-The Perfect-Plex to Paul Wight by Hennig is, what else, absolutely perfect.

  • God damn, that was impressive. I mean you have to get a little help with a jump from the other guy, but Hening whips him around. Great feat of strength there.

  • That Perfect-Plex to the Big Show was WOW!

  • bischoff being in the mic was a big aspect to the failure of wcw

  • curt hennig was so underrated

  • why was the ref still in the ref? wcw was so disorganized

  • i remember this because at the time, i was a big Perfect fan & i couldnt help thinkin," did he just perfect plex the Giant????" Paul Wight's "nip-up" was almost as impressive!!

  • Paul Wight looked taller as the Giant character than as the Big Show character.

  • That's because he keeps putting on too much weight.

  • no he didnt

  • that's cause they put lifts in his shoes so he would b 7'4. they did it cause he was billed as Andre the Giants son and Andre was 7'4

  • They didn't put lifts in his shoes. He was just thinner which gives the impression of being taller. Lifts? You think they're gonna give those to athletes like that. They'd kill themselves. The only person that did that was Raven and thats because one leg was ONE inch shorter then the other. You don't put 3 or 4 inch lifts in someones shoes.

  • Yes they did dude, they put two inch lifts in his shoes to make him 7'4" he is really on 7'2". Next time u wanna talk about something do your homework

  • I have done my homewook. It's called a

"BILLED" height. Meaning they announce you a certain height, but you're not necessarily that tall. Henning is 6'3", you're telling me the show is 11 inches taller then him here? The rubber on the bottom of his shoe might give him an inch and a half, maybe two. Show is a natural 7'1". I might give him another inch. His billed height at the time was 7'4", he never actually once stood that tall.

  • he had mucles here now his just fat

  • although it wasnt my favourite brand i NEVER understood the point of the "nitro girls"

  • The nitro girls were cutting edge entertainment. They were just dancingin the background for the demographic of male fans who watch wrestling. Up until that point the WWF never did anything like that. They had a couple of womens' managers, but never a dance team. It was clean entertainment. Then, the stupid WWF had to turn wrestling into Jerry Springer trashy bullshit. The Nitro Girls were a good complement to everything else going on. WCW had some great ideas! Cutting Edge!

  • Whats even erie is watching some of Chris Benoits older matches. I had an old VHS i broke out with classic matches from him....

I think the first two was him facing Owen Hart, in a blue mask before his WCW days...

Then i got him in tag team w/ Brian Pillman Vs Harlem Heat...

Followed with a classic WCW match vs Eddie Gurrero.

They're were more matches, but i swear to god it was those 3 back to back at the start..

    crazy

  • The Giant wasn't really an original name, good thing he got the name "Big Show" later on

  • Big show name is kinda cheesy, worse than that giant

  • 6:14 and 6:17 are amazing i wish the good wcw days would come back and not the bad old wcw ways in TNA.

  • WCW was so good for a few short years. It's amazing how quickly it went completely south.

  • nWo music was awesome

  • curt henning was one the greats,he did not really need the nwo,to do his thing, big show would be great if he walk one side of the fence

  • Yeah that was great. I remembering that I never saw that. Sting immediatly was one of my favorite heroes. Everybody was afraid of him aww mennn that was ultimate excitement. Beating anyone up with the bath.

  • Pefectplex to Big show, hell yeah!

  • Did the Big Show just nip up?

  • Omg yes he did :D

  • god big show really was poorly used,he didnt even have any music!

  • He walked out to silence as an intimidation tactic - he didn't need music. It was part of being THE GIANT.

  • agreed :D Big show rocks!

  • MMA has taken away the best wrestlers due to their surge and the money to be made. Most amatuer wrestlers had to go to pro wrestling once their careers were over. Same with a lot of martial artists.

  • 3:41.... Curt certainly felt that!! :-)

  • I have the entire season of WCW Nitro 1997 on DVD! Personal Message me if interested in acquiring.

  • So basically you stole an entire year, and now you want to sell it to people?

  • I was unaware you could steal free TV. And last I checked, I said nothing about selling it - acquiring means obtaining, not purchasing to give me a profit. The DVDs, labeling, packaging supplies, and shipping will of course cost money - but I'm just trying to do people a service since WWE never will.

  • fuckin eh buddy u telll that asshole
