forgive me guys cos i'm from the UK where most of our Argos are work vehicles for hunting. are you hunting or just camping when you go along these trails and how long do you stay for?...looks like awesome fun wish we had the space and wilderness to do this!
@cherokee445 Sorry, I have never had the chance to operate a Mule, so I would just be blowing smoke up your a## if I even tried to guess. I have no doubt that the HDI will haul whatever you want, but personally I prefer the Conquests (not made any more).
@jackreece123 You bet, there are also other machines like Atex, Swamp Fox, Maxes, Hustler, Mudd Ox. Check out 6x6world if you want to get into the whole AATV thing.
@bignik1375 Well, since I have 4 Conquests, I think I'm probably biased, lol. I prefer the 8x8 models, the smaller ones just don't have enough cargo space for me most of the time. That's not to say they're not any good, they are a great toy, just not for me.
@SarannyLexDCI The dogs love it, and would have to be tied into the machines if we wanted to keep them there. They are welcome to ride with us, and do sometimes, but they typically jump out if we try to force them.
My old dog loved all this stuff!! He wouldn't move all day Monday after a weekend in the cabin, but by Tuesday or Wednesday he'd be ready to go again! First one in the car every weekend. He would sit on the lawn and watch me pack in the coolers and bags/boxes. Would not move away from the car for love nor money!! I had a used 1980 Argo and it was OK but the Newfoundland Govt banned the use of ATV's on 'non-established trails' , ie bogs, marshes and anywhere else the Argo could go - Fuckers!
@MrMrtiki Actually, most of the time, the dogs take of chasing birds along the edge of the lake when we get there.
There are always lots of stops and breaks along the way. I've seen people keep up to us while on foot, working their way along game trails in the trees.
@landahoycaptain The dogs have the chance to ride anytime they want. Usually they bail out within a few minutes. I see no reason to force my dogs to ride if they don't want to.

how did that quad make it on some of those trails. Also any 6x6 or all 8x8 argos
cire00200 10 months ago
@cire00200 Quads do OK. That's all I used for yrs going out this way.
Not many 6x6's around here. "They just don't have enough cargo space" is the most common reason I hear.

Another great trip. What is the origin of the trail you're using---oilpatch cutline? trapper's trail? guide trail? couerier dubois?
branthunter 1 year ago
@branthunter Mostly Cutlines from Forestry and Oilpatch. Some are just trails we push through from one cutline to another.
