just watched a show the other day on the history channel i think, and it had scientists examine the shroud and could find no evidence of paint, pigments etc. they did however carbon date it and found it to be in the 2nd century i think, anyways then they brought up the flaws with carbon dating. nonetheless, it was a pretty good show. btw the scientists examining for paints etc were skeptics

yes i watched that discovery last night they said that in the 12-1500s french reweavers mixed in cotten cloth with linen to repair damage then died the cloth...the corner the scientists carbon dated..unfortunately the chemical used to preserve the shroud has messed up the carbon on the rest of the shroud so even with a piece from the center of all original cloth it cant be dated correctly

radio carbon dating proved the shroud to be a fabrication. This thing dated to somewhere around 1200AD - 1400AD. Even the catholic church won't swear by their lives that this is the burial cloth of jesus.

The shroud is not a fake. The shroud has been interwoven with cloth made many years later. When they took the small pieces to carbon date the shroud it was found they took from the wrong area. The carbon tests were off by 300 years, there were 4 independant tests. Textile experts have confirmed the portion of the shroud tested had interweaving where another cloth was attached to the back of the shroud. Either way no one can duplicate this artifact.

yes i watched that discovery last night they said that in the 12-1500s french reweavers mixed in cotten cloth with linen to repair damage then died the cloth...the corner the scientists carbon dated..unfortunately the chemical used to preserve the shroud has messed up the carbon on the rest of the shroud so even with a piece from the center of all original cloth it cant be dated correctly
