@Kanoppo The original recording on the Foxtrot album was done on a Martin steel-string guitar. Though this is a classical Bach-inspired piece, the original recording was actually done on a steel string guitar...
@Kanoppo I like it both on classical and steel string instruments. In,fact there is a whole school of classical players that play and write specifically for steel-string instruments. I recorded my rendition of "Horizons" with an Ovation steel-string guitar, but I was basically playing the album version. I like it both on classical and steel string instruments.
@Kanoppo I like it on both classical and steel-string instruments. I think they each have their own pluses and minuses. I recorded my version on a steel-string Ovation...you can see it on my channel.
All of those that put "Steve Hackett Cover" on their recordings are unfortunatley wrong. Steve Hackett is the guitarist for Genesis. It's not a cover. A cover means a different band/person did it. Only one person to my knowledge has ever done this piece, and that is Steve Hackett. Genesis is in my tags though.
thanks a lot for upload this vid is one of the best because i can see your finger clearly and that is helping me to play this song, you do it very well
That's very impressive even though you figured it out yourself. Maybe someday you'll be able to right yourself a song. Plus you're like the only one who can play Trigun's Rakuen song. That's a very nice guitar by the way, how much was it? It must've been very expensive.
Well I had used the tuner on the guitar itself, which I had always found to be quite accurate, but for some reason this piece does seem a bit off. It's probably because this is about the 10th take and I had been cutting corners... Guess I need to take my time from now on. But I would not mind reposting it at all!
As a die-hard early 'seventies Gabriel/Hackett fan who bought 'Foxtrot' (BEFORE their SAD post '77 descent into a Phil Collins pathetic 'Pop' band)-AND- as a recent fellow owner of a (beautiful) Ovation USA Legend; Gotta say, you've done well BUT, no excuse for NOT tuning your Ovation properly (shame on you !)
Post a new vid' with your 1777 LX tuned & you'll (deservedly) get higher marks - a class guitar deserves a better advert & more attention to detail.... however good your playing is.
this should be played with spanish guitar

Thank you! The guitar itself was a gift, but the retail value was $1800. I really should start posting again...
